of course its possible..it asks a lot of patience and time but it can be done..
This is what i do..
You make paths of every textures you like and make alpha masks of them..I guess if you work with illustrator you manage the pentool..
Once you have a path you can for exaple make a brush of your texture or you can convert it to a shape..This is not a method that can be done in a few minutes but its the best way to select the things you want..I hope this makes sense
