Okay everyone, here's an update. I took everyone's suggestions and the problem much better. Poser can still lock up but it problable 75% less than before.

I'm considering reinstalling poser, that is the one suggestion i haven't tried.

i'm going over the comments and something occured to me. i have my runtimes in the public folder. i don't fully understand windows 8 with permissions and admistrative rights. could there me something i need to change with my external runtime folders???

i have the program installed at C:Program FilesSmith MicroPoser Pro 2012 and i have external runtimes in C:UsersPublicDocumentsPoser Runtimes
