I use the Content Package Assist product to convert ZIP files to the kind of ZIP files that are installed by Install Manager. It works pretty well.
However, there are some products on Renderosity (SWAM hair, City_145058, etc) where all the DS4 files are placed under a "My Library" folder in the ZIP. I wish they would not do this! When I try to load a product, I get a lot of missing files warnings from DAZ and basically the file doesn't load.
I can fix them by unzipping, moving the files out of the "My Library" folder, rezipping, and then using the new zip in Content Package Assist. However, usually I have already installed the products through Daz Install Manager, so I also have to do an uninstall and a re-install.
Does Renderosity advance some kind of Best Practices for file layout to its artists? Please don't put DAZ files into a My Library folder in the ZIP!

Hi Tony_Stark,
On the contrary, I found the chart extremely helpful. Compare the Quadro M6000 specs to the GeForce GTX 980 Ti specs, and you might come to the wrong conclusion without the chart.
I certainly appreciate the creation of a standard benchmark for Render performance. However, I'm concerned that some folks are running the benchmark with all the spheres, and some delete two of them, so it would be best to name the benchmark with a versioning scheme to compare apples to apples.
Yup, a couple of days ago I ordered my GeForce GTX 980 Ti to replace my Quadro K4200 based on this chart (and some dissatisfaction with some render times)...

Charts mean nothing to me. Looks like we need to get as much power as we can, including RAM, video RAM, etc.

Hi Grum,
As I understand, it's something like that. However, it's not really "Contents folders". There is a "Content Directory Manager" under Edit.Preferences. Maybe you already knew about it, though. I don't know how "Runtimes in Poser" work.
If your question is really about "what is loaded in memory", I don't know the answer. I think DAZ Studio builds an index of your content, but it really seems to only load the asset when you put it in the scene.
It appears DAZ Studio creates its own temp files in the AppData folder on the system drive, or at least whatever the system understands is %AppData%. I think to move these, you'd have to move %AppData%, which I think only Windows surgeons should do.
Personally, I created about 6-10 different directories with the Content Directory Manager, because I can think of different scenarios that I would want some available. Also, I factor out new directories for different marketplaces. DAZ content installs fine for me 99% of the time, but content from other marketplaces sometimes needs some kind of fixup, which I'm still learning how to do.
Hope this helps

Hi All. Are you saying that I can create separate Contents folders, and somehow tell Daz3d to load them when I need them. Rather like Runtimes in Poser? Reference to the Temp Directories, where are they normally? And how do I move them? Grum

Thanks for the response RHaseltine!
I have many Renderosity purchased packages that aren't visible yet in DS. However, I think pulling one of them as an example might be helpful: Hongyu's Hair 2010 for V6/Genesis 2
When I unzipped this, I got a "Contents" directory that contained "data", "People" and "Runtime" top level subdirectories of "Contents". When I look at the README for the package, it also indicates the top level is "Contents". But, this seems counter to a variety of other packages that are working, which unzip directly to "data", "People" and "Contents". I naively thought I could just move "Contents/data", "Contents/People" and "Contents/Runtime" to "data", "People" and "Runtime" respectively, but neither configuration gives me DS access to Hongyu's Hair. So, if the README says "files should be HERE", but DS can't see it, what's wrong? Sorry if you are unfamiliar with this package; I'm asking the more general question and just trying to provide a specific example.
BTW, I am using Content Directory Manager to keep my "clean" DIM content separate from the Renderosity content, so that I don't muck up the whole thing as I try various fixes to the Renderosity content, like copying/moving directories. I have both C:UsersPublicDocumentsRenderosity and C:UsersPublicDocumentsRenderosityMy Library in my content directories, if that matters, because the folder structure seemed to imply content could be found in both.

Thanks LPR001. Is there some primer on how to fix things up? Virtually all of my DAZ3D purchased content is in the right places and working. With Renderosity purchased content it's just hit and miss. I spent part of the weekend just staring at files and folders of things working and not working trying to determine patterns and what simple moves or folder renames would make groups of missing content work. I can see in some places scripts of one sort or another are referring to files in some directory structure, so I can't completely move things.
I've also been looking through the README's. A lot say things like "should work for DAZ". It looks like in many cases I think I do have the right files, just something looks off about how to get DAZ Studio to see them.
What explains the various file extensions? Why are some DSON files text and some [apparently] non-ASCII?
What approach should I take in getting my Renderosity purchased content to load?
