I'm in Germany so missed the discussion while I've been sleeping.;) Thanks to all who commented and helped getting the Fractals section in the GALLERY back. I've been talking about the gallery indeed and not about the forum. I'm one of those who don't have the time to talk much here, so didn't use the forum often, but, like all the many fractal artists here, want and use a special gallery section for uploading my fractal works. Boni's first comment clearly stated that she was talking about "no fractal images" for more than 80 days, which is ridiculous of course. One look into the Fractals gallery whould have shown. Anyway, the problem seems to be solved now - the fractal gallery right now showing 20,000 of 150,716 results, lol.

Thanks Len for letting me know about the Community Forum - much too read there as it seems. Will leave that for tomorrow since after my first attempt of uploading an image successfully (new small size, but not compressed like before (920 kb instead of the former 512 kb limit), which took me about 30 minutes until everything worked, I'm done for today. I'll stay tuned.

I haven't been active on Rendo for a while, just jumped in yesterday (after Rendo had been down the day before) to check the fractals gallery. I got slightly shocked to see the new appearance of everything, took me some time to even find the fractals gallery. Didn't find any new upload from you, Len, since July 31st, and due to reading your description I thought something must be wrong at your side (thinking of your health mainly). Now I thought maybe there's some news in the fractals forum, and here I am (after having searched for it for a while). Glad to see you posting here and seem to be well!
I didn't have the time to upoad anything yet so didn't know about the new restrictions, but since the max. size was only 512k in the past, I had to shrink my images to a smaller size than rendered all the time anyway, they mostly were much too detailed. So the new size for me doesn't actually change anything for me, if it's still 512k (which I didn't check yet either).
I don't really know if any of my uploads are gone, but there are a couple of blank places - does that mean there once was an image? I also noticed that all comments that needed a 2nd page are gone now - if one clicks on page 2, only page 1 opens again. My gallery thumbnails in upright size look very ugly now, not at all clear. Plus my gallery thumbs are not in a row anymore but in a messy order, also upload dates are muddled.
If nobody will spend time in the galleries anymore, then I'm not very motivated to upload anything anymore. But maybe they'll still work on the site and fix some problems, I can only hope so. I'm a member on DA as well but never uploaded anything there yet. I find DA really complicated and don't even know how to start. Plus, as I see it, one has to be present very often to reply to comments, but unfortunately I don't have enough time for that. So I guess if one isn't present all the time, one wouldn't get comments, which again leads to frustration. ;) So I really don't know what I'll do in the future. I'm not retired yet and have to work all day, so I'm just happy to find some spare time for my fractals hobby, but I can't spend much time on any site like Rendo or DA to leave comments or reply on any. It's a mess.
I have some stuff to upload though, so I guess I'll give it a try today or tomorrow here and see what happens. I only hope it's not all coming to an end here now.
By the way - where can I see the total of images I've uploaded now?

I'm so sad about it, can't really express what I'm feeling right now. Just a few minutes ago I learned about Corrie's death by seeing Jacomina's dedication. I haven't been in contact with Corrie very often but when we wrote, it always was a pleasure, she was a wonderful person and and this community will not be the same without her. It's a relief to hear that she didn't have to suffer and died in her sleep, it's the best way to go to the Other Side. Byebye Corrie, I'll miss you.

Congrats to the winners and all others who contributed! I'm curious about the new theme too!

Oops....I just realize that I've overlooked a couple of replies! Ts...tss....Glad you're back, Len, and that you had a great time!

Thanks so much dear Mies for risking your life for me! :) I just hope Len is well!
Not an easy topic but then again very very interesting, I'm curious what can be achieved with these "Vorgaben" (standards, defaults?? Grr...my English...)
Same for me regarding lack of time (always!), but WHEN I've got some time, then it's nice to have a topic I can try to work on. And if Len should not accept your suggestion (doubt that though), no problem as well cause everything produced can still end up in the gallery anyway, right?
Hugs!!
and have a great weekend, you, Karel and all other fractalists!

@ sehr liebe Mies :)
Would you already tell the new theme so we could already start working on something or shall it remain secret until Len will officially announce it when he'll be well enough again to do so?

First of all, congrats to Mies and Mies, lol! Your entries were all so beautiful! Unfortunately I missed voting, but that wouldn't have changed anything, I'd have voted for "Smokey Eyes" if I hadn't been away. Also congrats to all other participants, loved all of the entries!
As for the "prizes" thing - I go with Corrie's and Mies' opinion. It should be for fun and not for gaining prizes, and not at all if it has to come from your pocket, Len. No way! If ever Rendo should be interested in the fractal community, then a T-shirt would be fine indeed. Or a "fractal enthousiast" sticker for the car...this only after torturing my brain for finding something else. ;)
@ Corrie, Mies and Cornelis - thanks for your kind words!
@ Len - thanks so much for making this possible and all your work even when you're not feeling too well. Just hope it's all better now.
Cheers,
Susanne

Thanks so much Len for telling me, otherwise I would have never known it! Funny, I didn't even get a site mail. Thought I had overlooked it (like it happens very often unfortunately since it's not blinking anymore) but no.
Thanks so much to all of you who voted for me (who does that voting, by the way? I don't even know THAT, to be honest) and for your congrats! I've been here so rarely that I seem to miss at least 90% of all what happens. ;)

I completely agree to your opinion Len, but it's all up to everybody him-/herself. I find Karel's 2nd image well worth to be taken as the challenge image, it's beautiful and represents a spirit in the sky very well. I agree to Mies here - why not make it short and take it?
I fear it will be a hard thing for me too to find anything matching this theme though...so this is a real challenge indeed! ;)

Congrats Frank for making 1st place, your image really deserved it! That bonsai looks amazing! Congrats also to all others who contributed so many wonderful images, it was a feast for the eyes. And thanks also everybody for voting. Can't wait for the next theme Frank!

It looks even more fugly now than after the last change. I wished they'd get rid of that awful blue eventually, it really makes me sick. Thanks Len for the info.
Thread: December/January Fractals Theme Challenge | Forum: Fractals
Thanks so much to all who voted for my image and congrats to Cornelis and Karel! And congrats also to everyone else who participated, there were so many great images posted this time! It was a great theme Cornelis had chosen, so I expected many entries anyway. Loved what I saw! I'll come up with a new theme very soon, wil send you a site mail, Len.
As for the number of votes theme - I'd like to stick with one because I find it harder to decide for 3. As Len already said - it may afford too much time to pick 3 and there may be less votes - just guessing though.
