I wanted to keep making this bigger and bigger, but didn't want to kill my computer. If I had the ultimate machine there would have been 20 fighters in this scene.
Snow was added in Photoshop. If Daz would add particles I would love it forever and ignore all it's other problems.

Quote - I'm certainly happy some reality users have been posting pictures of Dawn. Certainly solidifies my decisions on her. She seems to be a good idea gone wrong. Who knows, maybe in four or five years she'll be as common as V4; but, I just don't have the spare cash to be an early-adopter or unpaid beta tester. I've been pretty quiet around her because I've gone back to using poser full-time since the release of R3 and Poser 2014. I had forgotten just how flexible and how much of a joy it was to work with V4 and Poser. Not to mention the thousands of dollars I have in V4 content. True, studio has its autofit and that was one of the selling points for me; but, now that there's the tighten/loosen fit morph tool as well as the droop morph tool, I doubt that I'll ever go back to studio unless they toss that idiotic d-form and go for more vertex morphing tools like poser has.
That being said.. I see plenty keeping the faith with the DS/R2.5/Lux route and am seeing a ton of fantastic renders on DA. For those of you who haven't used R3 yet; you're in for a treat.
How hard is it to make the jump from DS to Poser? I tried some version of it years ago before I tried Daz and Poser was very confusing. I never got very far with it.
So what are the advantages of Poser (besides that they already have R3 available)? Is the animation any easier to work with?

picks at scabs left from TDK rises and Iron Man 3
The curse of The Third's strikes again. 'Nuff from me. Gonna go watch Dark City as a cheer-me-upper
I didn't hate DK Rises, just couldn't remember what I liked about it after it was over. And IM3 was my favorite of the series.
I LOVED Dark City and haven't seen it in years. Might have seen it on DVD once, but watched it many times on VHS when it first came out. I need to grab the director's cut on Blu-ray, just checked and it's really cheap.

I haven't seen this much hype leading to this much disappointment since The Dark Knight Rises.
Here's my first Dawn render. And after this I'll probably lock her in the basement with Stephanie. Used the ACSEL shaders. but turned the skin glossiness down to 6000.

Quote - Brad do me a favor? Can you try using auto fit on Dawn see if it works...
I've tried a random sample of Genesis and V4 hair and clothing, and nothing has worked with Dawn so far.

On my first test run of Dawn I thought the skin glossiness from the ACSEL shaders was a bit too high. I dropped it down to 6000 from 8142.
Not a big fan of the hair that came with her. Been trying a bunch of different settings and can't get rid of the plastic look. Didn't try the ACSEL shader for that because the description shows it's for the brown material that I'm not using right now.
What I like so far: she's smooth. No weird bends or creases in her arms. When I applied one of the poses, none of her parts went through herself like always happens with Gen and V4.
Since I didn't get any of the extras there isn't much more I can do with her right now. Base model is nice (especially for being free) but for now I can do a lot more with V4 and Gen. I really like the attitiude and philosophy of the creators, they seem to care about the customer and stand behind the product, so I'll keep watching for new developments and support them in the future when I can afford to.
First render should be done in maybe 2 hours.

Took me a while, but I finally got the site to load and make it all the way through checkout. I only got the free model, couldn't afford anything else with this damn federal furlough, but I'll play with her tonight and have some renders up soon.

Playing with settings again trying to find the perfect spot. Think I went too high with the bump on her torso.

Blah blah blah blah blah blah **BOOBS! **blah blah blah blah.
That's how I'm feeling lately. Try to do some fun fantasy stuff with a fully clothed elf and about 5 people look at it. Post some boobs and it gets 100 views. So here's some boobs.

Then you need a good bump map and crank it up, way up. I generally get it around -0.004/0.004 or around there with strength at 100%."
You posted -0.004/0.004. I used -0.01/0.01. I've never been sure which way the numbers affect the bump. Am I going stronger, weaker, or is there barely a difference between those two?

I haven't done much in the past few months so I'm doing some simple stuff to get back into it. Hair settings based off what Paolo said a few posts back. I used -.01/.01 at 100% and that's something I've never been sure of, which numbers are actually the stronger setting?

Hey Paolo,
I've somehow never seen your Pret-A-3D deviant art gallery before today, even though I follow the Reality plug-in group.
I can across this image http://pret-a-3d.deviantart.com/art/Victoria-5-Bree-276309551 and was wondering if you could share some hair tips. I have that same hair and have never been able to get it to look like that. It always comes out looking like a plastic helmet.

A little off topic, but does anyone use iclone? Was watching some videos and it looks like it's very easy to bring Daz content over with the latest version, and then you can do Mocap with a Kinect.
I hate the animation in Daz, so I was wondering about doing it in iclone then bringing it back to Daz to render through Reality.
