The problem with spline animation in Poser is that you cannot define ease-in or ease-out (or spline tension in other words) for keyframes...This makes human motion quite hard to do right...With that parameters you can manipulate how the transisiton will be (speeding up or slowing down) when approaching and going out of every key frame... In Lightwave it is so easy...
Thread: How many of you folks use your purchases for commercial stuff ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I aslo always use purchased content commercially. This is why I buy a lot...I buy mainly characters and clothes.
I spend around $200-$300 a month for Poser purchases and it is generally worth the money. My best buy was definately Wardrobe Wizard. It is a blessing.
But sometimes I ran out of options and that is really annoying. This was the situation with clothes till WW came around (I had also bought Clothes Converter but never succeeded in converting anything proerly with it)
I have been trying to buy Dance Studio for weeks with no luck (please, no e-bay suggestions) Knowing that it is out there, and I am loosing money because I can't buy it is really driving me mad...
I am just praying that one day someone like PhilC will come out with a python version of DS...

Thread: How many active Poser user??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I assume most Poser users use it as an add-on to other 3D/2D imaging apps...Allmost all the Poser users I know use it only when they need a human figure in their workand don't want to buy stock photography. They just Poser and keep it in case they need it... The situation is different for me. I am a dedicated Poser user. Poser is my main act...(and sometimes I use Photoshop for postwork). I wonder how many people are like me and use Poser as their main app?

Well I have dual boot, WinXP and XP64...Poser works fine with XP64 but it works under 32 bit emulation, thus slower. Hope a 64bit patch comes before Poser 7 as a service release, at least for the firefly engine because I have seen Cinema 4D engine render under XP64 with Athlon 64 (cinebench benchmark is 64 bit) and it is truely unbeliavable... My 160$ OC'ed venice 3000+ renders %75 faster than an P4 extreme (around 900$)...I cannot imagine what an X2 can do under XP64 with a 64 bit rendering engine...

Well, I don't know how much help this would be but I have done some research recently as I am planning to go dual 6600GT's (I'll buy one first, save up some money and buy the second one) I am an fanatic ATI user. But as far as I have seen, nVidia cards of the same caliber perform better at higher resolutions. So, especially if you are planning to use your notebook with a hi-res capable monitor, 6800 seems to be a real good choice.

Well, back then AMD was really problematic, I have to admit that. Still, it is not easy to use. You have to pick up your components carefully and set up everything right - both hardware and software. But it is well worth the trouble IMHO... It's a a simple trade between comfort and performance.I chose performance...
Thread: Dual Monitors - This is so cool! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Dual monitors truely rock. I am changing my secondary "dial&library montitor" to an 1600x1200 capable 17" tomorrow because I was using an 1024x768 LCD (yes, lack of "physical" desktop space) but I need help about one thing: How do you seperate "parameters" and "properties" tags? I cannot have both open at the same time...I have to switch between two and that is annoying when you have so much free space... BTW: Dual monitors slow down your OpenGL performance considerably if you are not using a fancy graphics card. But it is worth the comfort you gain :)

Well, I strongly recommend an AMD notebook, preferably an Athlon 64 one. Yes I know poser does not support 64 bit yet, but A64 has improved architechture (on chip memory controller vs.) and runs like a dream. You have no luck with Intels if you are using cpu-intensive apps like Poser. They suck big time. When it comes to rendering, my 165$ A64 overclocked to 2.8Ghz (3000+ venice) is %75 faster than P4 Extreme which costs between $900-$1000... Hope that helps...
Thread: Dance Studio in Freestuff - Is it possible? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well, first about legal issues; I was in no intention to "steal" the software :). Frankly I would rather buy it as we are basicly a licencing company so we earn our money by caring for copyrights...But that does not seem possible. I just recall reading a post about someone contacting MC at the time being and them saying that he can distribute the software. This is why I asked... As for poser 4, I don't own it. I only own Poser 6. But if the content on this cd is sold seperately (like the furniture and stuff) I would like to buy the BHV's...Does anyone have info on that? And for the XP/98 issues; our system admin salvaged an old 98 CD from our "kind o' company junkyard" (thank god we were established in 1996 :) ) and said that he can make a fake installation with something called virtual pc. I have seen him work with that software. It's like a PC in PC. Your second installation runs in a window thinking that it is a seperate, stand alone machine. He uses linux that way and he says it should also work for 98...
Thread: which is the best rendering engine for dual core? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Does any of these have native 64 bit engines? That would make the real difference. I have 2 operating systems installed now (XP and XP64), and there is a huge difference between them when it comes to native 64bit apps. PS: I only have winrar that is native 64 at the moment, but that seems to be a good way to compare as what it does is quite like rendering - needs pure computing power...
Thread: Spline motion help needed... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well that's what I do (adding a lot of keyframes) at the moment...But it hurts a lot when you want to make some major changes in the animation as you have to edit all the keyframes back and forth. I was hoping that there was some sort of python script for that... Thanks for the support though...
Thread: Can dynamic hair look like Kozaburo hair? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Neftis: thanks a lot for the help, and the pic. That hair looks real good...Using a transmap for the skullcap will probably do the trick for me. Kirwyn: My problem is the same here. I am generally stuck between animating the conforming hair or doing postwork for the dynamic...Both is a pain in the..well "back" :) Render times for good looking (dense) dynamic hair are also considerably longer...I have a fine machine (the longest WW conversion I have done so far -a full body conversion- took about 2 minutes) but sometimes I have to give up dynamic hair because of render time, especially if I am animating. If I am not mistaken, the fur/hair plugin for Lightwave had a way of rendering quite dense, full looking roots for hair really fast. It did some kind of intelligent post work depending on your hair settings after rendering. Maybe dynamic hair root rendering fix should be on the Poser 7 wish list...
Thread: Poser and cooling: a question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well, I can recommend "Big Water" water cooling kit from Thermaltake. It has everything you need at a reasonable price ($100). I use an o/c'ed AMD64 with the kit. I mounted the radiator outside my window so my computer is deadly silent...
Thread: An Overlooked use for Wardrobe Wizard | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well fitting original clothes to morphed charachters was the main reason I bought WW. Unfortunately I am working on a project with morphed Jessie, and I use DNA morphs which work only on HiRes Jessie...And WW does not support HiRes Jessie yet...
But when it does, it will be my Number one :) By the way, I have both CC 2.2 And WW (yes I was desperate to finish the project) CC can handle morphed HiRes Jessie but it takes a lot of time to calculate and it is really hard (I mean that) to use. After seeing how WW works, I decided to wait for the HiRes jessie update and uninstalled CC 2.2. I have used none for cross-figure conversation so I would not comment on that aspect.

Thread: Problems with poser on a faster pc | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If all your drivers are OK, it is most probably about memory timings. I had the same problem. In my case everything worked fine but the cloth simulation. It just locked up. I adjusted my memory timings and everything works fine now... Nforce3 and 4 boards have a lot of memory parameters. If you are using your old RAM, you might need to work on them...I had to switch my sticks and adjust the timings to get a stable system at 2.25 Ghz with my Winchester 3000+ (Yes it it overclocked from default 1.8 Ghz)
