I bought a whole new 64 bit computer, built to my specifications partly because of Poser Pro. I wanted to be able to use some of the stuff that wouldn't work on my 32 bit system.
I can almost use it. Mike3, Steph petite, mil girls/boys/baby and animals all work fine. Victoria 3 is ok as long as I don't add any morphs. Same with Aiko 3 and Hiro.
But try to use Vic 4? Crash. Aiko 4? Crash. G2 figures? Crash. Ok, so I'll use P7 for those. But what gets me a bit upset is when I querried Smith Micro about the problems with Vic and Aiko 4 the only answer I get is that the problem is in the Daz figures and to take it up with them. Daz says there's nothing wrong with their figures and the problem is with Poser.
I really don't like companies that try to shove their problems elsewhere.

Quote - I clicked on your support ticket link again, Chinacat, and saw that Matt River from e-on software had already gotten with you and helped you to resolve your issue. And it looks like they were able to help you pretty promptly, in fact, within about 25 hours. I think it would have been fair for you to follow up here and post about the support you received and how quickly your problem was resolved.
Ever heard of people going out of town and not taking a computer? I just got back and now see that I'm being castigated for not posting here the minute the problem was 'solved'.
Pardon me for having just a bit more of a life.

Quote - Welcome to Vue!Â
Actually, the best version is Vue 5 Infinite - and the most expensive.
This is true. It is also quite a resource hog. I have a computer dedicated to graphics; 3ghz chip, 2 Gb ram, 550 Gb drive space...nothing running on it but the OS. No modem, no browser, all services not having to do with the graphics card shut off.
But if I try to use a volumetric atmosphere and a MINOR ecosystem (no more than 2 sparse vegetations) with one terrain and a ground, I get an out of memory error when trying to render.
One Poser figure but no volumetrics, no GR or GI and simple textures on ground or terrain, one or 2 plants (only 1 if it's a tree) and THAT'S ALL if I want to render it. Otherwise...oom error.
Only way to make a more complex scene is to render elements separately and composite which makes the results ineligible for most of the contests run.
Yeah, I like the IDEA of Vue. I kept buying the updates hoping that these problems will finally have been fixed. I don't think I'll be putting out the money for 6

Quote - Just a thought, chinacat, did you try giving Vue the serial that starts with VUExxx, or the one that starts with INSTxxx? it's the VUExxx you need to enter.
Yes, of course. The support ticket won't even open without it.

I don't believe any more that the 'right' people exist at e-on.

Quote - The best way to get support from Tech Support @ e-on is to put in a support ticket. The forums there aren't really for technical support and they say on the website that they can't provide tech support via email.
If you go to the e-on website, click on "Customer Care' and then "Contact a Technician". Have your system specs and your Vue serial number handy.
This is what I got when I did just that...put in a support ticket; please note that it says the response will be answered in the DISCUSSION GROUP. (yes, I checked the box to send the response to my email. so far it hasn't even been posted in the discussion group...2 days later)

Thread: Differences between Vue 5 and Bryce 5.5 | Forum: Vue
Phantast, I've already spent a lot of time getting my figures posed and textured the way I want them. Why should I have to spend that much time AGAIN in order to get them to work in Bryce?
Thread: Differences between Vue 5 and Bryce 5.5 | Forum: Vue
Vue will import Poser objects (.pz3) in one step. If you want Bryce to do it you have to go through Daz Studio, which is buggy as hell...distorts clothed figures, miserable to work with, etc. Or you import them as .3ds or .obj figures but, no matter what the documentation tells you, the textures do NOT come through consistently. You can work around the vegetation with Bryce. Import plants, etc. You just can't do anything with it to help you build a decent scene with Poser figures.
Thread: When I am HAPPY, I am VERY happy! Vue "old" Extra Veg plants work!! | Forum: Vue
Lynne, I have every copy of Vue ever released, including 2 versions of 5. I PURCHASED all the extra vegetations. As far as I'm concerned, the online form is the same as an email. I've sent 6 about this issue and have yet to be acknowledged. I would think that having better than $2500 invested (and I'm sure it's more than that, but I can't remember some of the original prices) in e-on products would entitle me to at least know that someone was reading my concern. In fact, any contact except for sales between me and e-on disappeared when I refused to transfer to the Yahoo groups when the forum went there.
Thread: When I am HAPPY, I am VERY happy! Vue "old" Extra Veg plants work!! | Forum: Vue
How did you manage to get them to work? I have almost all the old vegetation, have never been able to get them to work...have never been able to get the converter to work...and want to use them. I've also never even been able to get e-on to even acknowledge any of the several emails I've sent them about this. For all the money I've spent with them, you'd think I could at least get a canned email saying 'we got your message'.

Well, I have tried all suggestions and nothing works so I'm just dumping this particular figure as far as importing to Vue goes.
Thread: Poser to Vue problem | Forum: Vue
Sharen, this was the first time I had it open today. I had posed the figure yesterday and left it for today. So everything has been shut down in between using Poser and trying to import into Vue. It still works correctly with other files...which is what makes this so weird.
