Thread: "What's New" Paging in Gallery & Freestuff is Back! | Forum: Community Center
Thread: Why page numbers are important | Forum: Community Center
Yes, vacation is an appropriate example of this effect - and I often used almost exactly that same method of finding my most recent place in the gallery after a prolonged absence, even taking a few days to catch up incrementally. But even more, sometimes because of work/life issues, I don't have the luxury of scrolling through the gallery every day. Not everyone's life is constructed around Renderosity (shocking as that revelation may be). Indeed, this week, I didn't have a chance to look at all, until last night. So, anything posted between Sunday night and half-past-Wednesday is irretrievably beyond my view - a 'Renderosity Event Horizon' as it were... and that's not fair to artists who might otherwise attract new viewers.
I can appreciate that the definition of 'New' art in the "What's New" setting is somewhat subjective - but there should still be a way to scroll through a complete archive, as was effectively the case up until this last revision/convulsion.
Renderosity loses a lot of its appeal as an artists' gallery if this isn't rectified.

Well, how DOES one scroll through a week's worth of gallery images now? There now appears to be a finite limit on the 'What's new' scrolling - after roughly 2 days' worth of images, it just stops; and I can't figure out how to get to older images, still in chronological sequence...
and yes, it appears to be a finite number - as new gallery images are posted, the ones at that cut-off threshold vanish.
If I miss viewing images for more than 2 days, there appears to be no way to see them (this appears to be a change implemented withn the past couple of days, as it didn't happen last weekend...)
Is there a workaround for this?

We extended last night's coupon. For anyone that missed it, please keep checking the The Temperature is Rising Sales Promotion located on the front page and watch the Site Announcements area for up to the minute specials. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that this has caused.

Thank you, Jen - however, when I tried to use the extended code last night at about 1a.m., as soon as I heard that the threat had been contained, the store software would not accept the coupon code, reporting that it had expired.
Today's coupon, for half of last night's discount, is a 'pale substitute' - I'm not complaining, I only point this out to clarify that there may indeed have been other customers who were unable to use the supposedly-extended coupon... so you may hear about it from others as well...
As for me, I will keep watching, in the hope that a similarly-generous coupon code appears before the promotion is over!
Cheers!

Sigh...
sadly, the store does not recognize the coupon code for me... i appreciate the offered extension, but it's simply not working for me.
Oh well, maybe next time - I doubt I'll be back to try again in the next 9 hours - I'm off to bed now, as it's almost 2:30 a.m....
Cheers!
Thread: New Rules about offsite Merchant postings -- Question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - [
You're missing the point entirely. When a full page worth of advertising of off-site products drown out advertisements for products sold here, then YES. It DOES hurt the advertising for a product here, whether it's a competing product or not. What you're not getting is that it's not the product that's competing; It's the ad space that was previously given for free. Renderosity vendors have to pay for WORSE advertising than what others were getting for free. And, what's worse is Renderosity vendors are even paying for that free advertising for those other ads!!
No, the reverse is actually true - Renderosity merchants can STILL advertise (within reason) for FREE at sites such as DAZ, paid for by DAZ Merchants, while DAZ (and other) PAs can no longer spread the word about their products here... So, under your current scheme, these other merchants/PAs are actually subsidizing Renderosity... I would posit that DAZ (for example, as the highest-volume site) is thereby subsidizing Renderosity merchants much more than the opposite.
...and the fact that independent CUSTOMERS used to browse both the Product Showcase Gallery and Forum here ENSURED that Renderosity merchants/products would be visible, even if the viewer's original reason for visiting was to learn about products elsewhere in the community - at least the eyeballs were on THIS site for a while... Under the new regime, there is no reason to visit the Marketplace forum at all - a quick scan of the RMP front page provides much more 'visible' concise product information, more quickly than clicking individual forum threads...
Respectfully, I think that driving wedges between the various sites will hurt ALL of the sites, but MOSTLY the sites that specialize in add-ons, such as textures, characters, and props... such as Renderosity itself.

OK, tried it as per your instructions, and OF COURSE it worked fine!
I don't know why it didn't work before, I must have been doing something wrong..
Problem solved - thanks again!

The pair of them are possibly the most accurate, museum-quality dinosaurs ever released in the Poserverse.
(larger images will be posted in the Galleries over the next few days...)

The foreground critter here wears the high-res maps, but all the background figures are clad in the lo-res version - the image is from a single file, and Poser didn't show any signs of slowing down, even with all 8 figures in the same scene...
