Thread: [HELP]Terrain painting | Forum: Vue
Quote - question on painting in the Terrain Editor in Vue 8.
How do IÂ carve?
I can see raise in Editor, and I see in Vue 6 a carve button existed but now there is nothing.
Kinda baffled on this one.
Thanks in advance.
Just select the 'Invert' checkbox of the 'Paint' tab in the terrain editor.

If you used a preset, any present above "final" (but not final) now uses tetxure filtering.
Yeah, e-on should have provided a list of all changed default settings (render, import, whatnot) of Vue 8.
I don't know HOW often IÂ had to dig through the settings to get identical results as with Vue 7.5.

If you're under Windows 7 or Vista you have to start Vue once in administrator mode to enter your serial.

The only problem I have had is that after the first use the rendercow will give a port address error and need to be closed and restarted for the next render.
That seems to be a general problem with the RenderCows under Wine. No biggie, though.
Thread: Vue 8 new build 47776 | Forum: Vue
Quote - I don't see any updates. Is it another update or 47776 still?
It was away yesterday (I've double checked), and it's back again today. And yep, it's still 47776.
I guess the temporary disappearance was some collateral damage from the Cornucopia3D database problems.
Thread: Vue 8 Studio Crash Problem | Forum: Vue
Quote - However, more serious (to me anyway) is that I've now had two spherical terrain scenes crash AFTER I've exited the Options menus and done work on them. One of these files had several hours worth of effort put into it and I would GREATLY like to recover this file.
I had a similar problem 2 weeks ago and sent e-on the problematic file, which they couldn't open either.
Yesterday the newest beta release of Vue 8 was available for download, and it loaded the file without problems. Dunno if it's because MY particular problem, but they somehow fixed it.
As soon as this beta is available to the general public I'd give it another try, so backup your corrupted file in case you should need it.

http://www.e-onsoftware.com/resources/ShowUpdates.php?ProductTypeID=81 says:
Your Maintenance Plan for Vue 8 Infinite includes access to free Expedited Engineering Fixes (EEF).
IÂ didn't subscribe to any maintenance plan, but maybe it's because it's less than one month since IÂ bought my upgrade to Vue 8.
Thread: resources in vue not increasing with new empty scene | Forum: Vue
Quote - Just out of interest, I did some quick tests using Windows 7's resource monitor. This is on a 64-bit system with 8Gb. The results were:
Of course IÂ can't know Vue's internals, but it's quite possible that some internal memory structures get only initialized/allocated on demand when needed, and freed when Vue is closed.
Downside is that no one else can use this memory until Vue is closed, advantage is that memory becomes less fragmented and things are slightly faster.
Thread: batch rendering | Forum: Vue
Quote - You also have to choose "external renderer" in the render options.
Works with the internal renderer as well, I tried it this morning.
Thread: batch rendering | Forum: Vue
Quote - this is probably a stupid question, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to start the batch rendering in Vue 7. I have added scenes to the list, but I see no "start" or "render" button. I have looked in the manual and it shows how to load them, but it says nothing about starting them. It seemed like the manual was alluding to them automatically starting, but they have not.
thanks a lot for any help!
Menu Render -> Batch Rendering
Click on 'Add current' to add the current scene to the queue. Processing/rendering of the queue starts automatically.
Thread: OT sort of Swap file question? | Forum: Vue
Quote - Is the term "Virtual Memory Setting" the same as saying "Swap file setting"?
Yep.
