Hey, I know this is still in progress, but I thought I'd sent an e-mail way back when this started, and then I had a period where I didn't have a computer powerful enough to do renders so I didn't worry about it. Now I do and I'm in the process of redownloading things and getting reorganized.
The problem is that I switched e-mails right around when Hivewire shut down, and I don't remember if I'd switched Hivewire over to the new e-mail account or not. As the store is now closed (and has been for over a year), I can't go check my account to see which e-mail I used.
I have no problem with sending another e-mail, but I just don't know how to approach it when I don't know which e-mail was connected to my account.

I'm not sure about Mac. On my Windows 7 machine, it's under Start->All Programs->Daz 3D->Daz Studio 4 (I could probably actually hunt it down in the Windows Explorer view too, if needed)

Admittedly, I don't do animations, but I'm much happier with dForce than I was with OptiTex. While I can't put my finger on exactly what, I was never really impressed with how DynCreator translated clothing for OptiTex, and I'm finding dForce significantly faster on my system than OptiTex ever was. I've even embraced running animated sims, which is something I tried really hard to avoid with OptiTex.
I'm still figuring it out, but I do know that I can adjust the settings on clothing with a dForce modifier by material zone, and not just one for the entire garment. With some of the other tools in DS (blanking on the exact names) I can create new material zones and set them up differently too.
As of yet, I haven't had any luck with prop clothing, but I've seen some advice that may help with that, and there's a lot of Poser Dynamic clothing that has found its way onto my wishlists since I first saw the dForce previews.
Now, would I pay for prop clothing? ... yes, but not a lot (under $5) unless it was really elaborate or extensive. I'd pay a bit more if it came already set up for dForce (which doesn't seem overly difficult, but I haven't messed with weight maps yet) and/or with at least a basic rig set up for posing/adjusting purposes.
So take this one consumer's opinion for what it's worth - though I have downloaded some of Biscuit's dynamic freebies to practice with. :)

Search may be easier, but I don't find the categories logically named or well organized. For example "add ons" presumably covers morphs and textures for hair and clothes, but should therefore be a sub category each of Hair and Clothes, not it's own category with subcategories for Hair and Clothes.
I'm not thrilled that browsing by the categories I look for now requires a search, but it is better than having the figure type after the type of item (so glad you got rid of that). I find the default cateogries for browsing are overly broad and badly labeled.

For Tutorials, please don't rely on Video Tutorials being enough.
Some people, including myself, don't learn as well from video as they do from text, and, even if I did use Video Tutorials more, I don't want to watch a whole video over again when I'm stuck on one step, and they're much more difficult to skim to find that one step.

Quote - Nobody HAS to support ANY figure. Period. LOL.
But, as it is for V4 and Genesis/G2 now, it will be the same for Dawn when she is released...or not. We really REALLY can't say how hard/easy/f-ed up anything is gonna be until she's released. Period. ;) So, the doomsday ppl and the shiny happy ppl could both be equally wrong depending. Point being we don't KNOW.

I don't see myself in either camp, honestly. I think Dawn looks great. I think she's a great advance over V4. I'm looking forward to adding her to my library. And as a DS user, I'll probably have it easier than Poser Users when it comes to products produced using features exclusive to the other platform, since going from Poser to DS is easier than DS to Poser, even if there are hoops to jump through.
But I'm not going to pretend that those hoops won't exist either.

Quote - Guh, my earlier posted hopes for the topic of this thread are being dashed. :(
I don't mean to make this a platform war. I just see a lot of hype about Dawn working perfectly in both platforms. And while Dawn herself will, Future support from vendors doesn't have the same guarantee.
Which is something I don't really mind. If I buy something designed for Dawn in Poser, I'm going to have to factor in the extra work I need to do into the cost, be it the hoops to import morphs, the steps to use Transfer Utility for clothes and hair, or the already existing factor of having to make my own material settings.
I just want to keep my expectations for Dawn realistic. And that means acknowledging that future products cannot be assumed to have the same cross-platform compatibility that she does. Which means, in effect, that she isn't as cross-platform compatible as it appears some people are hyping her up to be.

Okay, I've read all 56 pages. Not even all at once. Just not bothered to speak up until now.
So if I've got this right, Dawn will have a DS native version, and a Poser Native version, and the inital releases from Hivewire3D will support both equally. Got that. It's pretty clear.
What's not as clear is how clothing, hair and morph support moving forward is going to work.
From what I've seen in this thread, it appears that if the vendor only supports one platform, either they can team up with a vendor who supports the other platform, or else it's up to the users of the unsupported platform to get it to work using whatever tools are available within their platform of choice.
Which, depending upon the skill and knowhow of the user, and the features of the product in question, may or may not be a simple process, and occasionally may not be possible at all.
Or am I missing something? hopefully not something covered by an NDA.
