I did a reboot and the dials started working. I did all sorts of gyrations on Michael 4 and it seemed to go well. But...
Once I put his willie on, things went wonky. When I clicked part of the object to adjust it, the dial panel on the right didn't keep up. The top left said "M4 Genitalia Testicles" for instance, but the top of the dial window wouldn't update to the same part. Then I couldn't select parts of the model any more. And then the dials stopped working.
Maybe M4's willie is just too old...? (ug, there's a thought....)

As far as I can tell, it's in the right place. I have an external drive and a folder with Runtime called Michael 4.

Thanks so much for the help. Sadly, it's not working for me, but the sequence makes sense.
Thanks again!

Ok...so I failed. I feel that maybe I'm doing things in the right order. At risk of typing a text wall, here's my set-up and questions:
Setup: New Mac Pro. 4T external drive. On that external drive I created a folder called Poser. Inside Poser I created a Michael 4 folder with a Runtime subfolder. I then "manually" downloaded all the files, unpacked them, then copied and merged the package's Runtime folder with the one in the Michael 4 folder. I ran Poser, clicked the +Library button, pointed it at Michael 4 folder on the external drive. Poser seemed to find it just fine. I can click Figure, find Michael 4, click the double-check and add him to the scene (then it defaults to having his HIP be the default target...?). I can add clothes, etc.
So Poser seems to work and seems to find the stuff in my external Runtime.
I looked in the directory and found the DzCreateExPFiles-M4.bat file. It didn't run...but that's because I'm on a Mac, I think. A .command version exists and when I double click that it seems to run. So that's a thing. I've tried various sequences, but nothing's working... Do I run the Script in Finder, then start Poser? Do I start Poser load Michael, go out to Finder and run the script and it hits the guy I have loaded? Do I run Poser, load Micheal and there's a menu/button somewhere in the Poser interface itself that I use?
What's my sequence of steps?

Wow! Thanks for the help. I would never have figured that out.
My followup question is: Do I have to run that script everytime I start a new scene with M4/V4 (and I want to use a morph)? Or do I just run it once and then they're morph-capable forever?

The Install Manager problem (as it is) is that I want to put my content in a big 4-Terrabtye external drive rather than on my Mac's regular internal drive. But Install Manager doesn't seem to allow me to specify where to do the installation of the content....or at least I was unable to find a switch/preference for it.

Thanks for the input. I've been slowly getting it all back together. Which brings me to new questions:
1: I say "slowly" because I have had issues with the Install Manager. I can't seem to find a way to TELL it where I want the files to go and it seemed to insist on putting them in my internal drives "User" folder. So I thought..."Ok, I can cope with that." After some reading, I went to my external drive, made a Micheal folder with a Runtime sub-folder, and then used Install Manager to download a couple of packages to the User folder. I then COPIED the Runtime folder from User to my external. I started Poser and used the "Add Library" button to point to my new "Michael" library. It said it was completely EMPTY! So I've now reverted to a One-Package-At-A-Time download a package, unzip it, then copy the files to the external drive...and they do appear in my new Michael library inside Poser.
The question is: Is there a faster way? I have (from my past) 15 pages of packages that I could work through.
2: I've re-discovered that I have a lot of clothing, eyes, props, poses for M3 and V3. (I even have some for M2 and V2). Will any of them work with M4 and V4? I kind of remember some sort of converter....am I mis-remembering?
3: It seems I've got M5 and V5 in my list of things I've bought at some point...but it seems to indicate that I need a "Genesis" figure....?
4: DazStudio vs Poser? In a simple sentence or two? (A lot of the things I see when I'm downloading my files seem to say--or hint--that DazStudio is needed...?)
Thanks all you Wizards!
