I only talked directly to Jo a few times, but she was one of the nicest and most gracious people you could ever hope to find. Keeping her family in my thoughts.

I don't think I can say anything more than what's already been said, so I'll just leave this..
@DestinysGarden & @IceEmpress I didn't see the post, because removal, but I'm assuming you're talking about 3-DArena (as opposed to 3D-Arena as everyone's been typing), and she's still here. Her store is here: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/?uid=35702
Or were/are there 2 vendors with the same name?
Correct you are Vaskania, and I have been typing it wrong. Your direct link works, however, her name does not come up in the Marketplace vendor search. Edit: but I do see her on the list of exclusive vendors, so previous comments were presumptive. Apologies. But the point remains that one should be allowed to respectfully disagree, especially when invited by the opening post.

OK, I read 3D-Arena's comments, and visited her store earlier in the day. I found it honest and not out of line. Did you seriously ban a respected vendor and delete her store for simply disagreeing with you? Really?

Thank you for the information Paolo. I shall search for said checkbox, and start a thread in the Reality forum if I require additional assistance.

The part where I think it is NOT OK, to publicly accuse someone of a rip off, and share private business details, which is none of our business. That should all be handled privately. I thought this forum had rules about that sort of thing. I did report the post, but that didn't work.
Thread: Reality or Luxus? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Wow, Paolo, defensive much? In the US, you do not get to own the "idea" of anything. http://copyright.gov/circs/circ31.pdf
20 people could decide tomorrow that they want to make converters from Poser or Daz Studio or Carrara to LuxRender, and there is not a thing anyone can do to stop them. Giving each other ideas is a hazard in this business. There is no way around it. The only thing you can do is make your "thing" the best "thing" and go from there.
I'm going to stand by my statement that publicly accusing someone of a "rip-off," and especially then airing private business details is inappropriate, and unprofessional. That should be dealt with through the appropriate channels, and not by turning a simple request for unbiased and comparative information into a commercial and a crusade. All of that stuff is completely none of my business, and not relevant to the question posed by the original poster.
My apologies to Xatren for derailing the thread.
Is Reality easier to use than Luxus? That is largely a personal choice, and what your end goal is. Quoting from the Reality newsletter, "Reality has been designed from the beginning to hide the complexity of the rendering system." So, easier in that it handles much of the conversion for you. Not easier if you are attempting to do something that hasn't been accounted for, like the ability to turn part of a textured wall into a light emitting object, or if you like to be more "hands on" in your surface settings. It really is a personal choice, and there is no right or wrong answer.
I prefer Luxus. It is less expensive, is easier to get vendor support, and allows me creative freedom in the ability to access the "complexity of the rendering system."

Not at all. Reality is the original program that brought PBR (Physically-Based Rendering) to the world of Studio five years ago. It does that by integrating Luxrender into DAZ Studio and Poser. The other plugin mentioned is a rip off of my idea, which was made by one of the DAZ employees after he saw what Reality could do.
Cheers.
I was not aware that Spheric Labs was a former Daz employee, but I also have no proof that he wasn't. Either way, it is completely uncalled for to accuse anyone publicly of a rip-off, as you don't get to own the idea of a plug-in or bridge, and they function so very differently. cheers!

I prefer Luxus. It allows much more flexibility in saving presets, and really opens up the parameters tab. Plus, it is nice that you can have the Luxus presets saved in the same DUF file with either the 3Delight or Iray settings, and it will automatically call upon the correct settings when you change render engines. Finally, Luxus, like Iray, will allow you to make a partial surface light emitter, driven by an emission map.
And there is a Luxus for Carrara.
Thread: New competition figure Sneak previews - SM | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Hi guys. I have to say that Bagginsbill almost has me convinced to try out the new version of Poser. It looks like new and different things are going to be happening in the materials department, and I'm interested. Dropping the Adobe Air for the library is a huge deal.
As far as Pauline goes, I actually sort of like her, except for the lips. What I do find worrying is they repeated statements that the new figures are meant to be resources, and since the tools to fix/complete/change the rigging etc., come included with Poser, they don't see a problem with letting "unfinished" figures out into the public. The major flaw with this thinking is that the professional artist on a deadline to get the book cover turned in, does not have the time to fix or create the content they need to use this very second. The professional content vendor does not have the time either. The artists who just wants to make pictures in the evening after they get home from the day job, does not have the time, or desire. These people are going to use the figures that already have the required add-ons, ready to go, that works out of the box. I'm not going to even go into the logistical nightmare of if a character maker thinks the figure should be rigged one way, and the clothing maker has a different idea. That really needs to be standardized, or things don't "work" and people get frustrated and move on.
The other really big problem is how many people that are still using Poser 7 are going to upgrade to Poser 11? I think most everyone who is using a version before 2010 that wanted to upgrade, would have already done it. If one wanted to support the new Poser tech, they are already facing a split market from the beginning. How many new users, the ones we all want to see join our community no matter which software they prefer, are going to have the desire to make their own content, or do their own rigging? How many of them are going to move onto more user friendly software, and how many are just going to give up completely? It is in everyone's interest to make the new user's introduction into 3D as smooth and painless as possible.
The entirety of the decision to market the new figures as base resources for the users to finish up as they like, is completely mystifying to me.
Thread: Halloween Grab bag question please... | Forum: Community Center
Quote - Hi. How do you claim your grab bag item after a purchase? do you send me a link or do i have to keep checking my account?
If you had the grab bag item in your cart when you checked out an order of $5.00 or more, the grab item would have magically turned into a randomly selected item form the list of 25. You would go to your orders list where you download what you purchased and it will be right there.
Did you have the grab bag item in your cart when you checked out? Here is the item. It has to be "purchased"
http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=82721
I too would like to gift my item to someone who could use it as I got the Mistral Doll texture and I don't have the outfit. The irriatating thing its that I have about 5 of the other 25 items on my wishlist. It would have been great if it could have randomly selected one of those items. Maybe there is a way to set it up like that in the future. I really think it is a fun promotion, as long as you get a "Treat" instead of "Trick."
Thanks to all the vendors that participated.
Thread: $50 is a bit much for a lot of people. | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
I was thinking about picking up Scampixie Pranx, but I don't actually have $35.00 lying around at the moment. I know using the coupon would basically get me $15.00 worth of stuff for free, but I really, I just don't have the 35.00 at the moment.
I want the vendors to make as much as possible. I understand the policy on not allowing coupons to be used on discounted items, but I really don't like it. I don't usually shop here at all unless I have a coupon, and then I see what items on my wishlist are on sale to come up with the required dollar amount.
If I need an item right now, going to render it as soon as it is installed, I will pay full price. The other 93% of my runtime is items I got on sale.

Hey everyone. I am new to the forums here, but I just spent some time catching up on this thread. Bryster, you are amazing, an inspiration, a rendering god among mortals. I shall watch this thread with baited breath and await the completion of the train. I will also hope that my husband does not see this thread as this kind of modelling will appeal to his artistc sensibilites, and I already have to fight him to use the computer. I will be keeping your family in my thoughts that you get your issues with the auto accident sorted.
Cheers!
