Ahhh... 8 gigs on each node! Now that's the music my ears have been waiting to hear. Looking forward to working together. :-))

Hey Mark! After all my years with Vue and Poser, I've never rendered anything in Poser. Looks like you beat me to it. Oh yeah... and thanks for the ivy gen tut!

Look at Tyan for the MB. My machine is 16 months old, yet has a board with 8 slots for 16 GB ram. I don't know what to suggest in the area of graphics cards, tho... I seem to have rotten luck there.
Thread: Vue6 works better with Poser6 than Poser7- time to upgrade? Victoria Lee input? | Forum: Vue
Hey iloco, guess by now you've seen that the last entry on your tech ticket solves your problem. That is, your file is working fine for me now, on both machines, so I assume it does for you, too?
Guess we can go back to wondering why Victoria's Vue esp is working so much better than our Vue inf. Especially since Eric is interested in upgrading to 6 Infinite.

Sounds like Polax solved your problem, mathman?
Hope you meant weird in a good way. Since I'm just an old hippie (fossil, actually), that avatar is the real me. :-)

Hmmm, don't recall trying that routine in V6, iloco. And I wrote a couple tutorials on it for V5! I did open a V5I file like that in V6 that worked. I have noticed something different about V6 mapping, tho.
Looks like I don't have any work this coming week, so I'll have to spend some free time experimenting. Might be fun... might be fustrating. Either way, think maybe I'll start that thread I mentioned, instead of hijacking Eric's post.

Not sure if I had the same problem in V5, but probably did (I generally ignore the perimeter of the ground when resizing, but recall that at one time... maybe in V4... that was a big problem). In answer to your question, tho, I save everything.... and always with a new name. Just delete the old files once you know you don't need them anymore.
So, does restarting solve your problem?

Haven't heard about that one, dlk. Those spectrals are my new favorite, and they seem to render faster and better (well, for me) with each new build.
Maybe we should have a thread about the strange quirks we find, that no one else seems to run into? Stuff like my ghost dialogs and your hidden continuous spectral renders may be more common than we think. At the least, maybe we could figure out what common denominator causes the quirks? :-)

I've run into that with all sorts of stuff, not just terrains. For me, restarting Vue solves the problem. What version are you using... I'm on V6I

Thanks for the feedback on the cards. The main reason I've wondered is due to all the weird display problems I've had in Vue(5 and 6) since switching to Quadro (no problems in other apps). Things like dialog boxes that pop back after closing... this happens to me a lot. The boxes aren't really there, I can't operate them. And clicking a new function clears it. Since this behavior occurs on both my machines, it makes me wonder what gives? Had the same problem in V5I on the 32bit system, until the later patches. Mostly it's just annoying, but couldn't help wondering if it was a clue to other problems. Guess not?

That's interesting, Victoria. My 32bit system isn't TOO different (but yes, different) from yours. Yet if I can get 2 Poser figures into a scene (otherwise empty) my resources drop to the 25-35% range.
The 32bit machine: Dual processor AMD MP2800 with 3.5 GB ram, NVidia Quadro FX1000 128MB. I've wondered in the past if Vue has never liked the Quadro cards, but haven't seen anyone else complain about them?
