Hm. So if I remove it from the wishlist, then it'll be much harder to find when I'm ready to buy... but if I leave it on the wishlist, then I'm regularly nagged about it being on the wishlist. That's not a particularly customer friendly way of doing things in my opinion. I guess Renderosity is not open to changing that?
I'll just set those emails to be filed as spam then. That'll be easier than moving everything on the wishlist to bookmarks.
Thanks,
Kep
Thread: More on copyright abuse of Poser pictures | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
These threads usually end up with nothing resolved, sadly. It's very frustrating; I don't know if any of my stuff has been nabbed, but then I don't use the Gallery or other very public mediums -- most of the stuff I do is either for fun or for illustration in game documentation. It seems to me that a potential solution might be for a coalition of artists to assemble as an official group/organization, get a lawyer, and go after these little guys. That could spread the legal costs around enough that it just might work. Erik "Kep"

Nice job. I happen to like the heavy bump maps; it adds a very John Blanche feel to it. Don't remember if he did the original. Of course, if you really wanted to go for that Blanche look, you'd probably want to add all sorts of clutter to the foreground and few random flying skulls. -g- I'm impressed though. Nice, nice job. Heh. Looks like a chocobo from the Final Fantasy games in the lower left hand corner (under the "Who is" in the pic on post 20). Dunno if that means anything to anyone who's not a gaming geek. Erik "Kep"
Thread: DAZ V3 Head and Body Morphs - Is it just me... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm not ready to vilify DAZ just yet. Been far too pleased with them to do so. ;) I find it odd that they would cut the sale short based on Renderosity forum reaction to CL. That doesn't make sense to me, but I certainly don't claim to be privvy to their business decisions. Being on dialup, I'd waited because of the size of the downloads -- pretty much have to plan downloads of that size around days that I'm not working online (which is... like... rarely). Guess I'll drop them a note and see what's what. Thanks for the replies. Erik "Kep"

Thread: A question for modellers... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Definitely check out the free demos before investing in any of these programs. It's a considerable expense to buy any of these programs, and still you should prepare yourself for how the interfaces work beforehand even if you're not concerned with price.
Some, such as 3DSMax and Lightwave, also have student versions which are considerably cheaper than the full version -- of course, you have to prove your an arts student to pick those up.
Ask four different Poser modelers, and you'll get four different answers. It really boils down to how easy of a time you have with the various programs' interfaces. Some people take to 3DS Max faster(which I happen to prefer); others swear by Lightwave or Rhino. It's really a matter of personal preference, and the demos will help you decide that for yourself.

Thread: Poseralopithecus: Poser Skeleton Rebuild With Texture | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ugh, guess I won't be making one after all. Pity, I was finally getting myself worked up to fit it in with all the other half finished projects I'm working on. On the bright side, we know that a talented DAZ person is aware of our desires for a decent quality, cheaper skeleton. Hey, I can dream about the AV skeleton being put in Platinum, can't I? ;) Speaking of, I did some browsing for skeleton models in various formats. Found several extraordinarily beautiful ones, but they were medical grade and ran from five hundred up. It makes me wonder if modeling a quality skeleton from scratch is truly more work than creating a quality morph-laden character like Micheal. I'm just waxing, I suppose. Kep

7.Bring in and line up your new prop (you may have to fiddle a bit with each part) and replace the body part with your new prop under Menu >Object> "Replace body Part With Prop".<<< Ahhh, somehow I glazed over this part before. For some reason, I thought you were actually doing the entire thing as a gestalt obj and only using the Poser skeleton to line things up. I do have my blonde moments (despite not being blonde). ;) Once again I'll echo what a nice job you're doing. I do plan to give this a try; it's just a matter of finding the time to download and assemble. Kep

It's a shame you can't redistribute or sell that, since the texture wouldn't necessarily work with any skeletons the rest of us make with same bits; UVMaps just wouldn't necessarily match. Looks really wonderful. ...though... maybe you can redistribute. Perhaps you can edit the CR2, remove the vertices/geometries and such, and have it just point at the appropriate .OBJ files for each part? It'd require that we'd have to gather up the various parts to use it, but it'd work and it'd be legal, no? Just a random thought. Obviously that would take more effort on your part just to appease us lazy bums who admire what you've done thus far. ;) Kep

What might help to keep yourself organized is to right click and "open link in new window." That way, you can browse and choose in one window and have another window with your basket that you can just refresh as needed. Works better for me than to continually go back and forth, and it's actually faster for those of us on dial-up. Kep

Excellent job. Just as a reference, I thought I'd toss this link out for those making their own bones, the classic human body source: the online version of Gray's Almanac. KepThread: posertech.com is closing | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Wow. I'll echo that, sad to see you shutting down. Thanks so much for all the time and tutorials you've provided. I wish you luck with everything. I trust you'll let us know more details on the book when it's ready. :) Kep
Thread: Odd Black Spot in Render? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The twist apparently is what was doing it. Very interesting. Guess I'll have to find some more subtle ways of making the zombie look damaged. Definitely seems to be a case of "mangled" polygons. For what it's worth, here's some things I found interesting while trying to narrow it down: Small changes of the camera (+/- 8 degrees on X, Y or Z axis) usually had no effect, but occasionally caused the spot to shift. If I zoomed in on the hand, the spot vanished completely. The spot itself appeared to be several polygons, probably around four, though I can't be sure since it wasn't there when I zoomed in. Not only did it vanish when I zoomed in, but it also vanished if I shifted the camera down on only its Y-position/dolly. This put the hand close to or in front of the black floor, which makes me suspect that Poser4 can handle the more radically twisted shapes when they're not over a dark background, or when they're not too far away, or if the angles from the camera and lights to the polygons are "just so." Not exactly a scientific statement, mind you. I'd be curious if this is a problem that can be repeated in Poser5. Thanks for your comments and help in tracking this down. :) Erik "Kep"
