Complete's definitely worth the sidegrade.
Here's a little test I ran a few days ago when I had just sidegraded and hadn;t gotten around to uninstalling 6 yet:
As you can see, Complete took a little longer to render, but the results are so much clearer and sharper, with much more realistic colouring. There's been no post-process work done on either of these images, and they had exactly the same settings.

I see...thanks, Rutra! It ended up crashing on me anyway - I'll try re-loading the scene and rendering again with the exact same setting to compare render times instead. As for Vue 6 - I was going to get rid of it anyway. I purchased Vue 7 Complete as a sidegrade from Vue 6 Infinite - I only had Vue 6 on my computer until I worked out if Vue 7 would work properly (for some reason I couldn't download the Pioneer version to try it out). Now I know it;s all A-OK and working, I'm going to get rid of 6. Thanks for the pointer to thread, I'll have a thorough read of that.

Think is, JC - I always responded to mine, even if it was just a 'thanks, it worked!' - could it be they had a server crash, and now they're back up and running, the system is registering all the emails again, so resending them?

Rutra - thank you so much! Your English is excellent, and you go through everything so clearly. It's given me a lot of help and inspiration!

My longest is something like 48 hours, but that was an insanely complicated piece. I've found Vue 7 takes SOOOOOO much longer that Vue 6, though - I'm doing a comparison render - exactly the same image (though with a couple of tweaks - I'm using the new Vue 7 clouds and dynamic population for the eco-system). The Vue 6 (infinite) took 7 mins to render at 640x480, set to final. Same settings for the vue 7 render, but so for it's 40% done and has been going for about 4 HOURS.
Anyone got any idea how to reduce the render times for Vue 7? Having both 6+7 installed on the same computer might not be helping, though....

Very well done! I've just got Phil's Clothing Creator, so I'll be having a trial run of that tonight - thanks, Phil! Though I'll probably end up swearing just as loud as you... ;0 hehe!

Thanks, you two! Ah, that's cleared things up for me. MrSparky - great idea, and I think I might start that this afternoon.... ;)

They have a very interesting interview on the homepage about the use of Vue in II, by the way, detailing exactly what it was used for and how it was done.

Thanks, Yvonne! Here's another new one (for some reason, it won;t let me upload it to the gallery. I think because I render at such a high quality it increases my file-size too much.)

Aha! (rushes off)Oh (comes back) It needs Poser... I don't have Poser, only Daz Studio. Do you HAVE to have Poser to do skin?
Quote - This is good for learning the basics of painting. As for cuts and scrapes and grime etc, I think they will have to be painted on in postwork.
:b_crying:
Aw, don't cry! Yeah, I know that tut's for Poser, but the principles are exactly the same for Daz - if you open the V3 or M3 (or whichever model you're using) texture map in Photoshop, you can follow the tut. Then just apply your modified texture using the surfaces tab in Daz.
Hmm, I've had an idea. This may or may not work, since I don't have an opportunity to try it out, but in photoshop, if you open up your texture, then create a new layer (Layer - New - New layer), then pick a very dark brown (almost black) colour, then select your brush tool, and select a spotty type of brush (remember the brush tab I showed you in the tutorial, and the little arrow next to it? Browse through the different brush sets that appear when you click the little arrow till you find something - try the 'natural' brushes) - and apply that to the texture. Then take the smudge tool and smudge it around a little. Play with the opacity of the layer, and that should give you some sort of grimey-looking skin. Like I say, it's just an idea and untried and untested, but it might work. An idea for blood might be a line of red running along the skin, (on a new layer) and use the dodge and burn tools to shade slightly. Then like I said before, just save as a .jpg, and apply using the surfaces tab in Daz.
