The Poser 7 reference manual mentions valueOpKey, so it must have been introduced with P7.
Thread: How do you rotate a texture in a Firefly or Superfly Material? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Andrew_C posted at 5:04 AM Mon, 25 September 2023 - #4475225
I found this in my material room tips 'n' trix folder, credited to AntoniaTiger:But out of interest if you say wanted to rotate a texture 45 or 30 degrees or whatever, I imagine that requires adding texture math nodes of some sort. Which one would you use and where would it go?
This example is shown using the Tile node, but it can equally well be applied to the U and V offset inputs of an image node. The angle is set by Value_1 of the Math_Functions_4 node (45 degrees here). Note that your image would need to be tiling for most uses.
Thread: How to quickly spot if a DDS texture has an Alpha channel ?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
ImBatch from High Motion Software https://www.highmotionsoftware.com/products/imbatch can extract channels, and will open DDS images - although I'm not sure I have any to test. The interface is kinda clonky, but it's free for non-commercial use so it wouldn't hurt to try it out. I keep it around for the occasional task that IrfanView et al can't handle - it's very powerful once you've got to grips with it.

Nice work EnglishBob!
Downloaded, thumbsupped, examined, and appreciated.

Thank you EnglishBob!You're both very welcome. Please let me know of any problems or suggestions - now I have the process in place, it should be easy to make guides for any other figures which don't have them.
Those will help greatly in lining up tattoos as well!

The seam guides are live in Rendo Freestuff:

Less haste, more speed... I messed up the seam colours. Now fixed, and the link above won't work. Snag the updated guides here if you can't wait for them to appear in freestuff:

I've made a set of seam guides for LaFemme, along the same lines as (but probably not as comprehensive as) SnowSultan's. I'll submit them to freestuff, but if anyone wants to snag a copy in the meantime you can find them here:

@igohigh: LaFemme's leg seams are straighter than V4's at any rate, but they're still up the inside of her legs so not ideal for stockings. Seam guides would be helpful in making a second skin, but I feel it would still be an uphill task, and a 3D painting application would make the job a lot easier.
I haven't personally seen a fishnet second skin for V4, but would be more than happy to be corrected on that score.
Thread: I've stopped receiving newsletters | Forum: Community Center
Don't feel badly about it. Somehow I was placed on their naughty and haven't received a single newsletter for many months now. Maybe close to a year. Sure miss those freebies.
You?! You're one of the most actively helpful people on the forums. If you're on the naughty step then there's little hope for me, the outspoken critic. :)
As for the "wanna get our emails" cr&p, all that does for me is blot out the home page. I don't get anywhere to enter an email address whether I'm logged in or not. That nonsense hasn't been fixed for over eighteen months now.
I'll miss the freebies, but I can try to remember to visit the deals page every now and then for the rest of the offers.
Thread: Ancient Weapons of Poser Creation? | Forum: Poser Technical
I'll try the demo and report back, by PM if that's ok rather than clutter this thread up any further. Although on the original topic of 'ancient', I think UVMapper Pro was the first 3D-related program I ever bought, in 2004. (I got Poser 3 off a cover disk, and won Poser 4 in a competition, to be clear! :)

Out of interest Steve, how do you plan to announce the release of the new version? uvmapper.com is showing 'update in progress' at the moment, and has done for some days now.
Thread: Ancient Weapons of Poser Creation? | Forum: Poser Technical
Hi Steve, glad to see that rumours of your absence have been greatly exaggerated, and sorry for promulgating them. :) I'm looking forward to seeing what version 4 can do.

The only program from your list which I still use is UVMapper Pro, and I use it regularly, on nearly every modelling session. However to the best of my knowledge the author (Steve Cox) isn't around any more, and updates are unlikely. I've heard nothing from him for years.
I would like to be able to use EasyPose Underground again, but I've been unable to install it on my most recent PC. I think it needs a particular version of .NET framework, but I haven't found any details on that in the documentation. I haven't had the time to fully explore this though, it's one of those occasional projects that I revisit from time to time.
Another oldie that I still find useful (not on your list) is John Wind's Compose, which is a Java application and hence can work on any hardware which can support a Java runtime. Java is deprecated for web applications, but it's fine to use offline.
Talking of deprecation, Morph Manager is best avoided these days. It doesn't understand recent Poser file structures, meaning it's too easy to corrupt your files IMHO.
Thread: Advertising going wrong | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Glad to find everyone a little happier this morning. :)
I agree with Ohki's suggestion "... give us a preferences tickbox ...", but it's a fair bet that most people visiting this forum would prefer to see Poser-centric adverts.
Thread: Why is it faster to render a small object enlarged than render a close up? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If this is Firefly you're talking about, Sam, I'd suspect a maths underflow of some kind. Firefly was bought in for Poser 5, and I dimly recall there were some artifacts which could be minimised by scaling up the scene before rendering. The theory was that Firefly hadn't been properly optimised to work with Poser geometries, which tend to be many times smaller that those found in the majority of the 3D world. The problem was fixed in Poser 6 but I didn't see an explanation of what was done.
I've never had cause to render something small on its own, but now I have to try the experiment for myself. :)

Adblock Plus has a 'block element' feature which works a treat on this waste of my display pixels. Other adblockers will probably have a similar function.
Take care to click on the rectangular area which surrounds all three adverts - it won't be serious if you click on something smaller, but one of the options seemed to encompass the whole page. That struck me as a little too draconian. :)
