Yes, we won't be releasing XD support for Dawn until she is released to the public, so Universal Clothing won't work for her until then.

You do need to make sure that XD is updated to the very latest version in order for Universal Clothing to work.  There are updates needed for every figure to make them recognizable by the plugin, so when you run the XD Updater, make sure you also update all figures you have installed as well as the program.

Here's a quick way to tell:  Load the shoe and the figure into a scene together, but don't conform the shoe to the figure.  If you need to pose the figure's foot to get it inside the shoe, then the shoe won't convert well.

We already have support to convert clothing from Genesis, and we're working on Genesis 2.  However, due to technical limitations, we won't be making a license to convert to either Genesis figure.

The quality of shoe conversions depends highly on the specific shoe.  Using the legacy algorithm, most of them convert well.  However, some shoes are not modeled around the original figure's feet, so they probably won't convert well.

Correct.  The Universal Clothing upgrades are free, but still require the original clothing.
