According to the news item "Initially, Lightworks will run on Windows XP or newer (both 32 and 64-bit versions). The community hopes to have a Linux port ready to go by late 2011".
I couldn't find anything about Mac compatibility

It's a pleasure.Have you come across the attached link - there are more pages describing further poser file information but this link is specific to materials
http://www.kuroyumes-developmentzone.com/poser/poserfilespec/material.html
I'd be interested if anybody knows of a similar resource describing DSÂ shader/material files.
Regards
Andy

Hi thereI was looking for similar information and after a couple of days I've come up with the following link

Was this the one you were looking for?
Thread: OT:Why are Poser 7 users interested in Buying Poser 8, didn't they just buy 7? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Maybe Smith Micro could set up a Cash for Clunkers program where they give you a
coupon worth $120 toward the purchase of Poser 8 if you can prove you have a licensed
previous version of Poser.
How about an optional price for software only. Personally, I'm not really interested in the SM/PM content (such as Jessi, Alyson, etc) and this just inflates the download demand.

Hmmmmm it's so tempting! But I've got Poser 7 and I've got Wardrobe Wizard 2. I've also got Daz Studio 3 Advanced, Carrara Pro 7 and Vue 7 Pro Studio which all (IMHO) do better renders than Poser.
I've only learnt of the release of Poser 8 in the last couple of days (although adverts appeared in 3D mags in the UK some time ago - there was no other information so I assumed it was a re-badged Poser Pro). So when the email came through from Smith Micro it was truly tempting but I'm really glad I consulted this forum.
Otherwise, I would never have known about the problems with slow downloads, the reliance on a 3rd party product (Flash) and the general bugginess.
No, on second thoughts, I'll stick with what I've already got!
Thread: Poser 8 Content File, will I ever.......... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This poor download speed is EXACTLY the same scenario that I experienced with Poser 7. And I complained bitterly about the poor speed, the failure to resume downloads and, perhaps most importantly, the size of the download files.
I also complained about the performance of the performance of the CP web site without any satisfaction.
I'll certainly give the P8 upgrade a serious consideration but IÂ just wish that SM/CP simply made enough resources available to cater for such large downloads.

PSÂ I've got high speed/unlimited broadband and rarely, ever experience the same poor performance with Renderosity, RDNA or DAZ3D

Is this the sort of thing?

I know that it's Max format but you could use something like Silo to convert to obj format for importing into Poser.
Thread: V3 hand looks totally distorted ...PLEASE HELP | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm not sure if this is relevant but I've had a similar 'distortion' problem with SP3 using Poser 7 - with the ankle rather than hand - and have reinstalled a number of times without success.
Just out of interest, what service pack version of P7 are you using?
Thread: Share your opinions about what you'd like to see? (very informal unofficial poll | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Do you create your own content?
Not at the moment but I've got quite a lot of merchant resources in order to do just that.
**Do you create content for other poser users and share them as freebies?
**See above
Do you sell your content here ot at some other site?
I'd be more inclined to use the RMP as it appears to be the one site that caters for all tastes
Do you make use of freebies?
Yes
Do you purchase content?
Yes - too much!!
Do you like Work in Progress (WIP) threads by people whom really know their stuff?
Not usually - but the recent one on GND was really illuminating as a budding content creator
**Would you like to see some of the top artists post WIP's of how they think through and put together a scene?
**In general, I think that there's a general lack of material on creating content - especially using modelling tools like Hexagon and Pegasus (I know new and buggy)
**Would you like to see new forums?
**One of Hexagon would be nice, or (sub-d) modelling
Galleries - more categories or less?
Same - I like the ability to search by software and/or genre (especially as I use Poser, Vue and sometimes Carrara)
Content - what's a bigger consideration for you, price or quality?
Quality
Thread: What about Daz Studio 2.0? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I use an HP laptop (XP Home SP2, 1GB+ RAM, Centrino, no hardware OpenGL) and (like penguinisto reported) version 1.8 of D|S worked OK - subsequent versions have failed in some way and this was basic stuff in loading content, nothing to do with rendering.
I could go back to the earlier version but I'm in agreement with mariner, you just don't know what's not going to work - and if it's reported and going to be fixed. Perhaps when it gets to version 5/6/7, like Poser, it'll be a tool worth using.
Thread: What about Daz Studio 2.0? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
D|S 2.1 downloaded and installed. This time A3 loaded OK (failed in D|S 2.0) so I try to cloth her and completely freezes when I load a leather biker jacket! I tried D|S at v1.3 and it was buggy then - I rejoined with v1.8 and that appeared to work. Versions 2.0 and 2.1 have (for me) been a complete waste. I'm jumping ship again and relying on Poser 7
Thread: What about Daz Studio 2.0? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've recently update D|S from 1.8 to 2.0 and had problems loading the A3 figure so I've gone back to using Poser 7 (also - I've taken the plunge with Vue buying Esprit and upgrading to Pro Studio so I agree with aeilkema, the output from Vue is awesome)
Like others have indicated, you need to get further plugins to get D|S to match Poser.
Thread: What things can post work do to help realism in Poser made Images? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I use Paintshop Pro 8 but basic postwork stuff in PS or Elements can be simply through the use of layers (psd format).
For example, you could use a photograph (royalty free please) for a backgound layer, a Poser image for your main character (I export in png format to get a transparent background), another image for a foreground layer (grass mound, etc) and yet another layer for an effect (smoke, fog, etc).
Different effects and parameters can be applied to the different layers and you can have different versions of the same basic image for comparisons - perhaps with different backgrounds, etc. You can also scale the image to fit the background image.
It could be useful in another way to composite a number of Poser characters into a single image. Poser complains if you try and use multiple characters and don't have enough memory. So you could create each character separately in Poser and import into individual layers to create a single combined image.
Hope this gives you a few ideas.
Thread: Is Vue Easel a better renderer than upgrading to Poser 7? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
As you're talking about 3 or more figures, then you're not talking about a close-up render but a wider scene. In this situation the solution suggested by bantha is a good one. There are likely to be 6 large textures associated with human figures (assuming one for the head and one for the body) plus you may have equally large textures for the clothes (which may cover the body skin texture anyway).
There's a tutorial here that explains the process.
Vue is a worthy upgrade (I've got P7 and Vue Esprit) but you're still going to have a potential memory problem whichever program is used for rendering with the amount of data being handled.
Thread: Vue 6 Easel and Poser 7 question? | Forum: Vue
I use Vue 6 Esprit with Poser 7 and it appears to work fine.
Plus, e-on offer the two packages as a bundle
