Sounds an absolute nightmare scenario! I'm delighted to hear that you survived uninjured, but you have my deepest sympathy sorting out all the mess and getting life back to normal.
Thread: My scene has disappeared in 3 windows | Forum: Vue
Doesn't help you at all, but a very similar thing happened to me this afternoon. Modified a terrain, and all windows went totally white except the main window. Tried to render the scene, and the preview window showed only the sky and ground plane, although the terrain was still there in the main window and in the list of components. Got it back again by going into the terrain editor again and OK-ing it without further changes. Made no difference the first time, but I think it was the third attempt it all re-appeared. Very odd - and definitely NOT a video driver prolbem. Been using the same driver since purchase and never had this particular problem before. The terrain in question was 4096x4096 from a greyscale BMP file created with PSP then modified with the terrain editor to add stones, pebbles and gravel.

I opened this one fearing from the title some bombshell about Eon or other bad tidings. How wrong can you be? This is great news - hearty congratulations to you both, and my best wishes for a wonderful shared future together.

Artico - Sorry, and I do not wish to start a flame war, but the second paragraph of your reply to RDS's attempt to assist seems unnecessarily lacking in grace or good manners. It is not the way to encourage others to offer help in the future. I see nothing in your post that suggests you were seeking a particular type of bridge model, and if you were, it might have been better to say this in the first place, rather than gratuitously rebuke someone offering genuinely intended assistance.

I agree with the others. The snow on the ground, the vegetation and the water are excellent; the sky needs more work. Looking again, a very small point, but I would be inclined to do a little post-work in Paintshop Pro or Photoshop to touch up one area of snow on the closest rock: there is a parallelogram shaped "shadow" there that looks a bit unnatural (possibly an artefact from using too low a mesh density for such a close foreground terrain?) - I would soften the edges to break the straight lines up a bit.

You could also try the free Bantam 3D Grass program. Unfortunately the site went down a few weeks ago, but so far as I am aware the intention is to resurrect it ASAP so you might like to search for Bantam 3D on Google periodically.

I agree with what appears to be the general tenor of the replies. For my own part, entomology has always hitherto been my main hobby interest, and takes up a considerable amount of my time leaving less than I would like for the graphics side... but there are only 24 hours in the day, however I might wish more. This is aggravated at the moment as I have just bought a whole swathe of new and demanding software, but also now find myself in an upsurge of entomological activity rather crowding out the long learning curves. It comes and goes in waves. Still around, but not commenting as much and posting still less.

Superb! I don't know how you find the time to eat and sleep, the rate at which these generous gifts keep flowing from your site. Thanks again.

If you're talking about REALLY distant birds, the simple solution I use is to create a tube or two in Paint Shop Pro and use those in post. Because of the distance and consequent lack of detail, the shapes are very simple to create; a few of similar size but in different orientations, and you can easily use the random sequence of the tube to create a flock. Varying the gamma, size and position is easy too by placing them on a separaate layer which can be moved, sized and adjusted without affecting the underlying image.

Splendid work. I don't know how you find the time to create all these wonderful models for us, but I'm certainly grateful you do!
