Then again, you obviously have much more experience in this field than I do!
I'm just starting to get the hang of Hexagon, planning to make quick starter-shapes in curvy and refining them in Hex.
Love all your toons, btw, already bought Power Pixie, and the Draconian WarCow is near the top of my wishlist - he's beyond gorgeous!

Thread: Curvy 3D 1.5 Free today only..... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Downloaded it, installed, it none of the gadgets show up on screen, so damned if I could do anything with it at all, so I uninstalled it.
I have the same problem, but in my case it's definitely because my new graphics card has not been installed yet.
*from the developer's site:
*Minimum Spec: GeForce 2, Recommended: GeForce 3 Ti
For some users, running SetCurvyPath.exe (in your Curvy 3D folder) fixed all issues.
Reinstall and try again - it's worth it!
This is a fantastic program, been on my wishlist for a long time...

Thread: Shiny renders | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I decided to start from scratch, made a "stupid mistake" and got the desired result!
Originally I applied displacement on the texture and it looked dull and flat. When accidentally applying displacement to the shape instead, I had the effect I wanted.
Hope this helps someone sometime...

Ditto. On round surfaces it looks absolutely stunning.
Unfortunately my ThingaMaJig looks washed-out and my textures fade away. Probably because it's a flat surface, and lights and camera are "out of the box" - I hope to keep it this way because I want to introduce my ArtStarters series to a group of raw newbies next.
I ran into the same problem when I made "Hearts for Dark Backgrounds" and found a solution, but for the life of me I can't remember how I did it. How embarrassing!

Would that be the "Check for degenerate facets"-function? (In the Classic version)

Crystal clear, and I totally agree.
Thinking that UV-mapping could repair a broken mesh would be like trying to trying to fix a smashed car with a can of paint.
Thanks for pointing out my incorrect usage of the word "solve", Kuroyume. In my mind, a problem is solved as soon as you know what caused it, because it's usually easy to fix once the mystery's gone. Although this way of thinking does lead to swifter solutions, I see now that it could cause misunderstandings if not properly explained.
So, to clarify further: in "The Riddle of the Exploding Mesh", the cause of the problem was identified by UVMapper, but the actual fixing of the 3D object was done in Hex.
The main point I was actually trying to make is that Hexagon2.2 is not the villain of the story after all. Maybe it was, as implied earlier in this thread, and maybe they fixed the bug before I downloaded the upgrade (about three months after it was released); I wouldn't know.
Bottom line #1: Hexagon2.2 CAN indeed be used to create perfect morphs that do not break in Poser.
Bottom line #2: UVMapper is a superb diagnostic tool, and from now on it will definitely be the first one I use when troubleshooting any 3D problems. Did a quick search just now for that elusive thread that I referred to earlier, and scanning through the results made me wonder if UVMapper might perhaps be a little closer to a catch-all fix than we thought? I'll continue research about its capabilities, haven't used it much.
Any UVM-experts who'd care to add an opinion? Is there a list of specific problems that can be diagnosed and/or solved by this nifty utility?

"The model you have loaded contains out of range UV coordinate data.
Would you like to correct this?"
Closer examination revealed a single stray point that must have blended into the background outside Hex's uv-mapping area. How it got there in the first place I won't even bother to try and figure out. Anyhow, since deleting the rogue point, I've made several fun morphs for my Halloween ghostie in Hexagon 2.2 without any further hassles.
So, UVMapper saved the day by revealing my error, and Hexagon 2.2 seems to be innocent this time. I don't know if UVMapper can solve all similar problems, but it's worth a try...

Thread: Disappearing Arrow | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks, TrekkieGrrrl!
The disappearing cursor has been annoying me from day one with Poser, and it usually manages to happen at a critical point.
My camera controls are positioned just above the Windows start-button, so the trackball is easy to find.

Hi GVDV
Thanks! Now I can hit that pillow without fear of nightmares, although I won't relax completely until you've tested & approved the package. Check your sitemail.

Aaaarrrrgghh!! The attachment was too big. I'll put it on my website and post the link in a few minutes. What is the size limit for an attachment anyway?

Hi GVDV
I quite understand - apart from the financial considerations, it's natural to be angry when you're all excited to play with your new toys and find out they're "broken".
Thank you for pointing out the error of my ways. I should have tested in DAZ before announcing that you can you can use it with both Poser and DAZ. In my eagerness to get my shop stocked up I omitted a vital step but I've learnt my lesson now.
I've been working non-stop and have the DAZ package ready for you (see screenshots below). At this point I think we need Clint's help again:
------> Hi Clint
Thanks for updating A Hundred Happy Hearts.
Could you please do the same for Fifty Nifty Frames and Drape-n-Shape Tinsel and Trimmings before we run into similar problems there? I'd really appreciate it.
How do we go about getting the DAZ version to GVDV (and possibly other DAZ users, since I've put in the effort to create it)? I thought I could just upload it alongside the main package, but the "edit" link gives me this message: "Product file upload has been disabled for this product." Is it possible to provide it as an optional extra for buyers, and if so, what should I do next?
GVDV, are the attached screenshots (rendered in DAZ) enough to melt your heart to soften up that product review a little? Please, I shudder to think just how expensive this lesson might become for me... If you want to wait until you've actually tested the DAZ version I'll understand, though.

Hi GVDV
Sorry that you're disappointed with my product, and apologies for not replying sooner - I'm only online about once a week (dial-up issues, etc).
The *last * thing I want to have associated with my name is the word "misleading", and this is the first time in my life that anyone has been less than thrilled with the quality of my work.
So I'll make a set of DAZ-specific presets for you if you'll allow me a few days.
My fault for adding DAZ|Studio to the product requirement list. Sorry, since acquiring Poser I've forgotten about the extra effort needed to make it useful in DAZ.
GVDV, I think DAZ is an excellent entry level program, but chances are that you'll be pleasantly surprised at the improved appearance of some other products too, when you see them rendered in Poser instead of DAZ - I know I was. Because my stuff is very shiny, the difference will be more noticable though.
Please forgive me for the oversight?

Thanks,
Trienie.
