Hey I understand... technology is moving forward, and some products are just not up to par with it This site used to be banging with Poser products, but more and more Daz Studio just took it over. I still remember the days of Michael 1/Victoria 1, 2,3,4..... And I will admit a lot of times I still use Poser. Thanks Inspired Art & hmatienzo
Anyways, the old products are not selling as well... so vendor are pulling them down from the shelf and retiring them. I get it... why having something that doesn't sell for sale?
But man... now that I saw that one vendor I like is retiring their stuff (M4V4) it does bring a sadness... Some beautiful old stuff is still available, sure. But when a creator retires their stuff (that I haven't purchased due to financial restraints), I'm sad. I still have quite a lengthy wish list on here.
Instead of retiring products can't vendors just move them over to the clearance section?
Maybe I'm just and old dog?I agree. The thing is, this stuff is digital. It really doesn't take up space the way physical products do. Some of the "stripper ware" won't be missed, but there are items I haven't seen before & there have been no new version.
One vendor who had some truly unique items, pulled their stuff from the clearance section when the $3.50 sale was on (I had loaded up a cart FULL.) but had to empty it because I couldn't pay full price. THEN they put everything in this retirement sale for 2 or 3 times the price?!?!
If the stuff is going for good, why not let it go for $3.50 each, so people can get what they need? Also, extend the sale because I know as tight as money is for many of us, we can't rally too much money so fast.
Also, bring back the vault sale! That was the BEST sale Rendo ran! Haven't seen it in a few years, but I dropped 500 on the last one!
I use Carrara, so V4M4 are my workhorses! Until this retirement nonsense came, I bragged about the availability of V4M4 stuff here. Not bragging anymore.
Putting the items in the clearance Section AND bringing back the Vault sale are excellent ideas. Currently with the economy the way it is handing my finances I can't really afford this new stuff AND my wish list keeps getting longer (old and new DS/Poser stuff, etc.). So any kind of sales/breaks on the old stuff is always welcomed.
No reason to remove the old stuff availability from the marketplace either... whether that's Renderosity's doing or the artists (I've got stuff from way back as 2008 in wish list)
But like I said.. I get it, these aren't selling.. and why do I have something from 2008 in there? LOL.
I could join Prime... but not every antique item is listed as Prime, which it should be.
Like their competitor over at the other site has like $1.99 old school specials all the time.

So it would be a waste of my time and money (on-board GPU)? I just read that GPU cards run extremely hot... which to me means hot AND loud.Just to clarify, IIRC, render box --prior to #13 ?-- uses CPU only. I've a basic VGA card & display in mine.
From what I've heard, on-board GPU chips are not very good at non-game rendering. Also, GPU cores take up die-space that, IMHO, is better used for CPU cores. As I mentioned above, 'Box' uses 15½ of its 16 cores to render. Usage swings from 100~~90 % of CPU resource, between 'pulses' of data to disk...
Okay, so not as fast as a 'state of art' mega-GPU card with a zillion cores and an astonishment of fast RAM, but I'm a hobbyist not a commercial artist, so hits my 'sweet spot' of cost vs performance. YMMV. If necessary, I could build a second 'Box' --plus KVM switch-- for a fraction the cost of a twice-as-fast GPU card, render two views in parallel...

The security issues are frustrating. I believe that's why when I jumped from the last two Windows 10 build it caused the network setup to basically break down. I would need someone with programming/network experience to hand me a program that would connect all my pcs on the network, even though Poser only relies on the ip address of the pcs, and not on the network itself. Very confusing.I realised it would be much cheaper and future-resistant to build a 'render box' than significantly upgrade either of my CAD_Tower's now-ageing twin GPU cards...
What beat me for weeks was Window 10's exasperating network security stuff. The error messages do not give a clue to what's wrong. In the end, I realised that the error messages were looking at sorta-flipside of problem, dug deeper, found yet-another poorly documented networking menu. One last check-box and we were in business...
Uh, please may we have a forum for queue rendering and its quirks ??

So I used LF's Donor rig for the helmet. It's not UV mapped or anything yet, but I wanted to see how it would look. The materials will change, but not the color scheme. I kind of like it. I kept the bodysuit as a dynamic so that I could take advantage of her morphs without having to attempt to transfer them (never works out for me because the topology differences).
I have to decide how I am going to proceed. I haven't made a template for her body suit yet. I might not.

Thread: I don't get it? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Right, because before there was Studio there was Poser, and DAZ stole the runtime from Poser.DAZ textures have always been stored in a runtime folder. Although their shader arrangement doesn't match Poser, it doesn't mean that those maps can't be utilized in Poser. Anything I import into Poser from DAZ gets the manual installation treatment in the Material Room.

undefined posted at 3:05 PM Wed, 9 March 2022 - #2969455Right, I am aware of the fact that it's an add-on.Keep in mind, that this product is only material add-on for another product.I'm primarily a Poser user, although I do want to get into Studio...
Anyways products such as this one: BLACKHAT - G2 Cami's Closet II - Coco 3D Figure Assets Anagord (renderosity.com)
Are meant for Studio, but they have the Poser materials. Why do they have the Poser materials though? The last time I checked, you cannot import DS studio file format into Poser. So far the only thing I have managed to do is import the G3-G8 model into Poser 11.
Are you sure, that you already have the base product?

@Eddy: As far as I know, it isn't necessary to have all the machines in a home group, and I don't think it is necessary to have file/folder sharing enabled.
My machines are all Win7 64bit. I have run many batch lists via Queue Manager 12 and many animations as well. It works fine. Likewise for Q11, Q10, etc.
I have no machines with Win10 (or Win11, which is already out in the wild).
Basically, install Poser on the workstation, and install only Queue Manager on the remotes (aka "render slaves"). Use installers with the same build number (i.e., Poser and Queue build numbers should be the same). The first time that you run Queue, your firewall will prompt you for firewall permissions for Queue and FFRender64. Be sure to give them both firewall permission. You'll have to do this for each remote (render slave machine).
See this thread on P11 Q networking.
Win 7 is vastly different from Win 10. Networking did work up until I believe it was Windows 10 Build 1609.. after that it was, and still is, completely broken.

Poser needs an Nvdia card for GPU rendering.
I'm $hit out of luck then! :(

Thread: V4/M4 products now? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hopefully I can still post my thoughts here: I still have V4/M4 products on my wishlist here and over on DAZ that I will buy eventually. Yes, I am still using Poser 11 and will use Poser 12 as soon as it goes on sale. Right now DAZ is having a great sale, and I am buying items cheap that are normally like $20. But I do love Renderosity Items. I have about 662 items on my Rendo wishlist. Mostly M4/V4 with I think a few non-figure props. Over at DAZ I have 400 on my wishlist. I do like to use DS Studio, but since I am just almost starting (as opposed to barely starting) it's just not as fun as Poser. I started with Poser 4. Also looking forward to working with La Femme and Le Homme...

I have an old 1024MB NVIDIA GeForce 210 video card and use Poser 12. The only problems I have are I can't run GPU rendering. I have to use the CPU. It's not a hardship for me. I've never been one to crank out a dozen images a day. But Poser's superfly engine is pretty fast. Most of my images are done in a couple of hours. The other issue is that I can bog the scene down. I have to turn off the hardware shading and if I have a lot of figures or high poly hair, I need to make stuff invisible that I'm not working on.
I have the same card on my other PC, or somewhere. The Superfly engine in Poser 11 is horrifically slow, but then again we are talking about a slow system anyways. thanks for the reply...

The ones that come free with Poser also don't have genitals and also no development tools :)
Yes, I was sorry to see that the ones that came with it had an extreme case of ED... And neither one of the Pro version have pubic hair mats, but that's expected!
