When you get an Athlon be careful which motherboard/chipset you use with it. Some of them have had problems that then get blamed on the processor. On the other hand, I have had bad Intel boards too. Also the Athlons tend to run hotter than the Pentiums, so make sure the CPU cooling fan is properly greased down and the airflow is good.

I made it in about half an hour when I saw your request. It's low-poly and most of it is transparency map. I need to fix up a minor problem with texture mapping and I'll post it on my site at http://209.92.41.204/Poser

PhilC, if you can still fit into your 70's clothes, I want the number of your personal trainer.
Thread: Giants Anyone!? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Definitely a giant needs thicker limbs. Weight goes up with volume of body (cube of height) but bone strength depends on cross-section area (square of height) so you need to add in the extra multiplier by thickening things. Especially make their feet large to spread the weight, or they'll sink into the ground. The cube/square thing tells you how much. Double the height needs about 40% extra thickness. This rule holds well in animal species that come in a range of sizes, like antelopes for example. A larger body has the same number of limbs etc. so it doesn't need a bigger brain to control it, so there's no need for the head to get much bigger, so the head will be proportionately small in relation to the body. The neck still has to be a bit thicker if the head is larger, and will probably need a taper to accomodate the different head and chest scaling.
Thread: Trenchcoat Man | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If I recall correctly, that was a Poser 3 figure (prior to conforming clothing) that was pre-dressed in a trenchcoat. Since you can now conform a coat to a figure, it was probably abandoned.
Thread: clothing question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It gets worse. Magnets and morphs can only change the shape. Correct conforming requires setting the clothing joints to match the figure joints using the Joint Parameters editor, which is complex and laborious.

If you are trying to make a morph, you should never add or delete anything. But if you just want to make a new piece of clothing from an existing one, go ahead. The new item will need its own .obj file, and its own .cr2 file (you can copy the one from the article of clothing you modified, and change the "figure" lines to point to the new .obj).

You may want to delete the morphs you're not using on the Victoria figure (using Morph Manager or similar). They add a lot to the file size, because of all the delta lines. Victoria 2 and Victoria 1 are the same figure (mesh) but the V2 cr2 is twice the size because of all the extra morphs. This is copied into each PZ3 where you use the figure. What I do is dial up the character I want, save her as a new figure, and then go delete any morphs I didn't use. The end result is usually only one-third the original size. You want to leave in all the morphs for changing her expression, but remove the ones for size, pointed ears, etc. that you don't need for posing. If you want to go a step further, you can combine the morphs you used for shaping your figure into a single unique morph for the character, by using the "Save morph target" feature. Then you just keep that one dial, and can delete all the component morphs.

Thread: Off topic, but I can't find a forum that fits...... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
One thing about DSL is that yor connection is fast enough to run your own server. That's what I do. It's contractually non-commercial, so I can't sell stuff from my site, but I have other reasons why I can't do that anyway. Any version of Windows now includes (or can have added) a personal Web server. If it's not built in then it's a free download from MS. You need a firewall - software or hardware - to keep the hackers out when you're permanently connected, but your web space is up to 400GBytes if you fill your PC with hard drives.

ezArmour is not just the virus checker, they've bundled a firewall and a mail checker with it. The other two pieces don't use a signature update, so the sales model of "the product's free but the updates that keep it working will cost you" doesn't apply any more.
