I am having the same problem. My gallery was available this morning but was gone when I checked it about 30mins ago.

Great news! I have been forgetting to visit regularly largely because I was not getting ebots any longs. Thanks.

I know what you mean. The animation is driven by the client system and not Renderosity's servers in any case. So what is the cost to Renderosity for allowing them?
I am getting the impression that management has a lowest common denominator notion of what classifies as 'the art' around here. Thumbnails, descriptions, avatars, they're just incidentals that are easily thrown away.

One of many other step backs of this upgrade...What exactly was the problem with animated avs/thumbnails? I can't think of a technical issue, so therefore it must have been be a "creative decision" made by a select few totally disregarding the amount of work individuals put into those gifs....

Hope:
I hope you understand that a lot of us artists write science fiction to accompany our art work. That requires some scientific notation such as superscripts and subscripts as part of the description text. My most recent posting called 'Elysian Pillars' simply looks terrible because not only can I not create italic text, but what should be superscripts appear as ordinary text. So if I need to scientifically represent the value '10 to the power of 6', it comes out looking like 106 instead of 10 with a raised 6 beside it.
And I'll say this again. It is not a question of the Renderosity site not being able to now display superscripted text or understand the HTML tags that create it - my older postings still look correct and still have the markup tags in them. Renderosity is now deliberately removing the tags from the description field during the upload process. You are effectively editing my work whether you realize it or not.

Well, in order to italicise a word, you put this symbol: _ before and after the word or phrase. So, when you try to add language when writing up a description in the gallery, it automatically erases it?

And I tried using the _ symbol as you described in the description field of my latest post and it still does not italicise.

Indeed the old site allowed us to use HTML markups. And looking at my older postings the formatting is still very much there. But now my markups are being removed during the upload stage of adding a gallery entry. I think this is what's annoying me the most. It not that the new site is not reading the markups, its deliberately removing them like it knows better than I do what I want to say.

Hope,
i think what they're saying is that in writing up a description underneath an image they're posting in the galleries, that the text box area they type in looks like everything will post alright. but then, upon posting, all the HTML coding they put in is nullified and non-functional, essentially stripped away in the process of the upload. also, if you if go to the galleries, pretend that you're going to upload, you'll see that the box for image descriptions has no formatting abilities built into it [, ie. it lacks even this new MarkDown coding ability], maybe leading folks to think that HTML will be translated the way it used to as the old site's upload description box was also just a big old empty area devoid of any form of fancier formatting. some folks grew very accustomed to being able to use HTML in their image descriptions.
the text area for viewers to comment in actual does utilise MarkDown ability/functionality though.

By the way markup tags for superscripts, subscripts and italic, bold and underline text have been part of HTML since the dawn of the internet.

Let's put this simply, how do I create superscript and italic text in the description field now that the markup tags are being actively removed upon upload.

I typed and (without the spaces as I want you to see and understand what I am referring to), these are HTML markups for superscript text. They were removed from my original post and these markup tags are now being removed from my description section when I post artwork.

Hi! Can you explain a bit further? They were removed from your original post?

I second Timberwolf in his remarks. The serious difficulties with this sight go back to around 2013 and it would be wise to restore Renderosity to a pre-2013 format.
