I'm having this same problem. I will get "out of memory" sometimes with only a single, clothed V4 and no scenery, yet i can have that same figure along with a complex scene with the same render settings and it will render fine in P7. Even more odd is that if I look in the windows task manager I still have quite a bit of memory available. In p7 there are times where it is using close to a gb of ram during a render and it will finish, yet I'll get "out of memory" in p8 at 400-500mb ram usage.
I've also had the same thing happen where it will give that message after the render completes, while it is going back to the preview state. My drivers are up to date so I'm just stumped. It does seem to be a bug of some kind. IÂ guess it's time to wait for the next update and hope it's fixed.

Quote - Kaylic - I could be wrong here, but maybe you could turn off IK when posing the figure & then turn IK back on afterwards?
Actually, that's when it happens the most. Often i like to get the feet and legs postioned where i want, then turn IK on... then move and rotate the hip some to get a more realistic looking stance... it's just allways been alot more easy for me that way. But when i turn it on her legs will twist around or bend in on each other. If i do it with the arms they will be back around behind her. Just don't get it... i've been using this technique with V3/M3 and V2/M2 for years now.
I'm starting to think it might just be another p7 problem... I should reinstall 6 and see if that happens.

Yeah, I didn't plan on over doing it much.. just wanted a little more legnth. I got the v4.1 update and was hoping it would have something like that but it doesn't. If I could get a link to that file it would be great.

Thanks Ziggie :)Â I still use p4 renders for some things where super high quality isn't as important since it takes less time and that was driving me nuts.
Miss Nancy, as far as regrets... I definately love some things about p7 like the multiple undos... and the heirarchy list is MUCH easier to use, but there are some buggy things i'm experiencing like occasional crashes during renders, and memory messages... and also just some gripes like how saved poses seem to take 2x as long to apply and I liked how the previous versions saved the image settings for exporting renders instead of having to set it everytime. I'm just holding hope that updates will fix some of it.
Thread: Hair rendering problem. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There's just a few different hair that this happens with, and with the exception of Shee Kiira, it's allways twisted hairstyles with curls and such. It seems as though the black areas are on the opposite side of the main surface (if that makes sense) thus why it mainly just shows up on twisted or curly hair. As far as i know it's allways done it... and it's not that it only happens on some of the mats... It's just that you can't tell it's showing up on black or really dark brown for example and different lights/scenes make no difference. Since i normally make more gothic type scenes my characters usually have black hair so it's just not usually a problem. It's also not my poser install because just to check i made a fresh poser install on my other harddrive and installed those hair styles just to check... if anything it might be a video card issue.
Anyways, using the tip Anniebel posted works fine so it's not that much extra work. I appreciate the response though.

In preview it looks fine... the dark areas only show up in the render. I don't have Ambient occlusion on... although i've tried it with it on as well. And it does show up on any mat color that is light enough for it to stand out including the default blonde color.

Yeah, I tried having raytracing on in the render settings, cast shadows off and raytracing visible on the hair properties, and raytrace shadows selected on the shadow casting lights. Still does it :(
It's really weird... can't figure out what would cause this.
Thanks though.
Thread: Poser 4 pp vs. 5, newbie | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There's advanages to both, but I defiantely like P5 better. The material room in P5 is much more advanced with more features but that also makes it more complicated so P4 is much easier to learn with. If you allready use other 3d programs then you might not have any problems with P5 because it will be easier for you to pick up than if you didnt know anything about texuring. One thing I really like about P5 is the ability to make subfolders in the different libraries, P4 got so cluttered.
Thread: Anyone had thois problem in poser 5? No material room? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Mesh, i used to occasionally have that as well as other glitches when I had 256 ram. I recently got 512 and it has'nt happened since so I would say it's most likely your ram.
Thread: Should I get V2 and V3? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I know there is no Victoria 3.jpg thats why it is so wierd. It isn't from somoene elses texture and none om my characters have ever had a texure of that name. Ive tried everything. I load a default v3 with no textures, i dont even use an all white mat.. I changed every mat to white myself and add textures to every mat separately(no apply to all). This is with any character i make with any tex. I even reinstalled both p5 and v3 and didnt use any characters i had made recently. I also tried using the v3 installer that my friend had and got the same thing. I know how to properly apply mats... ive been using poser since p3 and have never had anything like this happen. I actually like v2 better anyways but it just irritates me that I spent all the money for something that is useless to me... oh and i did email daz and they never replied.

DO NOT GET V3!! For months I have been trying to get that damn figure to work. Any time I make a character and save it as Cr2 or Pz3 it will ask for a Victoria 3.jpg when trying to load it and if you try to ignore the file the figure will load completeley white. The texures are there but you have to go to the material room and click on every material to get the tex to show up. I've posted several times about this no one has an answer and correct reference doesn't fix it. Reinstalling P5 and V3 doesnt fix it either. Even if you don't have this problem I still like V2 better, she MUCH MUCH easier to work with and has more attractive facial features imo. V3 is a little more versatile but not enough to make up for the frustration it causes.
Thread: Question about P5 rendering problem. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It's definately not that.. this is a problem i've had every since i went from p4 to p5 several months back and its happened many times on my first scene after starting poser fresh. When I say it happens occasionaly, I mean that it happens on some scenes and others it doesnt, not that it happens sometimes on a single scene. If a pz3 or cr2 gets this problem it it will allways have this problem everytime i load it and vice versa. I've been using poser for a couple of yrs now and never experienced this problem til P5 and its driving me nuts becuase I can't find any pattern or make any sense out of it.
