Amapi is designed to be a great modeler which can import into almost any application. This is it's strength. If you are considering using any professional 3D animation application in the future - Lightwave, 3DS , Maya etc., building all your models in amapi is essential even if you decide to buy Carrara.

Why is everyone in this forum so down on Amapi? It's a kick- ass modeler that can export into almost any other 3D package. It even has features you won't even find in Lightwave, (I know, I own Carrara, Amapi and Lightwave). The modelers in Carrara are toys in comparison! No, it's not a full 3D animation package, but as a modeler it is an amazing product for the price. It's clear from the comments in this thread most people haven't really learned this program but are judging it after spending maybe half an hour dabbling with it, getting frustrated then giving up. Learn the thing and you will understand what I am talking about. The complaints that Amapi is buggy are obviously coming from those who downloaded the free version. If you buy it as I did then there is a patch for the 5.5 version and I would imagine also in V.6, which puts an end to those bugs. I too tried the free download for a week before I bought it and I found it buggy, but the 5.5 version with the patch works almost flawlessly. So stop critisizing something you've obviously never bothered to learn. Amapi is going to be your salvation.

I have used Amapi on a number of projects as a modeler in conjunction with Ray Dream 5.5. Those of you who doubt the power of Amapi as a modeler are severely mistaken. Amapi is a professional level modeler. Using it for the first time may appear very alien to you, but believe me you will quickly get used to it and then find that you'll be able to do things in a fraction of the time it took when you were messing around with that ridiculous vertex modeler or spine modeler. Apples and Oranges, Apples and Oranges.
