No offense, but you sound kind of defensive there. I didn't say I didn't like it - actually I said the opposite.
Ha nah dude, I got no reason to be offensive. I'm coming up with pretty sizey ideas then executing them, I'm loving life right about now. Like I was saying, it comes with the territory. Say whatever you'd like. I put that out there, that's what happens. It was more for the "I won't support that kinda stuff!" my answer is "don't" it's all good. The competition is actually FOR a video game - assassin's creed 2, not sure if anyone ever played it but it's CRAZY violent.. neck stabbings and such (check it out) ... so why make a heartfelt flick? Or a flick that wasn't nasty? Didn't make sense... you make movies for the audience and the audience for Assassin's Creed or GTA 4 or Left4Dead or whatever wants violence.. period. If you're only into games like Zelda then you wouldn't be into GTA.. most likely.
Oh and it was made to look like an FMV/cut scene that starts game play so if you were a judge I'd be golden!
OK, I'm getting off this thing... a "sharing occasion" has turned into something else. I still hope all who LIKE this sort of thing will watch and if they watch I hope they enjoy...
Peace all.

Quote - I wonder what kind of movies you're able to watch then. Teletubbies?
LOL!
It's all good. Everything is subjective. I create things therefore my "stuff" is subject to scrutiny. I'm used to it because I put myself out there - been making films (live action) for a while now, comes with the territory. People support what they want, and that's cool too. I make the types of films I'D like to see so no apologies there. Don't support it if you don't want dudes and dudettes, it's entirely your prerogative.
And to the supporters, thank you. I appreciate it... really
As for the quality of the video:
"Too dark in some places though, which is made worse by it being against a bright white background page. Sure you can enlarge it to full screen but then all the compression artifacts are too obvious."
Check my initial post when I said:
*"The video on IFC is SUCH crappy quality, it was originally created in 1280 x 720 but it's crunched way down but I'm hoping you will all still enjoy."
That's IFC's page, I was actually saying the original video had a lot less compression but eh that's cool too - not here to explain myself, just share some stuff. If you likes cool, if not, that's cool too. I'm still gonna keep making my stuff and putting it out there and I hope the rest of you will continue to do the same. ;-)
As for the filmmaking tips, create a thread - I'm always willing to learn via example. I wouldn't mind seeing some of your Poser animations where those lighting techniques are utilized and a little explanation of how they're done. Hell that's how I learned to use Poser in the first place, from the more seasoned folks out there... and hit me up with a PM when those threads are up.
looking forward to it... peace

Hi Trekkie Grrrl!
Thanks for the kudos - that means a helluva lot coming from you. Seriously.
The damn thing took long enough to finish. And yeap you DID see some bvh files in there you may've seen before :-) (The SWAT animations and a few bvh files from Truebones the rest consisted of keyframing and mocap)
Thanks to the folks who have commented so far, I really appreciate it. Hopefully more with contribute and soon enough others won't immediately think "amateur" when they hear the word "Poser"!
Onward!

Wolf - Thanks for the link - makes it much easier. :)
As for the smoke, that's what I was thinking - it's a little choppy, maybe lengthening the frames or something. This is my first foray into combining CG against a non-CG background so I'm tooling around a bit.
I have another anim I will put up soon, another quick test but it's interior with the BG footage being shot with a pretty crappy camcorder (no HD) - and no matchmoving applied.
Thanks LatexLuv, like that name! :)
Flibbits, I just launch Carrara, go to File > Import and chose either the Transposer (or the Native Importer but for animations I like the Transposer) - as long as you have CP pointing to your Poser exe it should work fine, I've never had any problems (I'm using CP6) hope this helps.

Thanks all - I appreciate the feedback, and I also appreciate the new members! Can't wait to see the goods! ;-)
OK, now Poser physics - I just started using this script and it's looking OK. However, I'm curious about the settings... below is a quick test I did using Pp as I am going to start adding more interaction between the characters in my flicks and I'm wondering if anyone has come up with a setting that is a little more realistic (density + bounce etc)...
I mean, I'm sure this guy would go down after taking a shot like that but maybe a little more realistic. (even though I like how he hits the deck) - I can't wait to get deeper into Poser physics. Should be Fuuuun. :)

Sweet! Thanks for the feedback all - and feel free to post links wherever you'd like. (it's a shame but I honestly didn't know Poser had a Facebook page!) ;-)
And if I had time I would've given those cops a few Tim Horton boxes! Hopefully I will be posting more in the near future. There will definitely be more videos/info when my new site for 2931Studios.com goes up instead of the placeholder I have there now.
Cheers all.

Thanks for checking it out. If you have any animations feel free to post it up in the group... looking to grow it a bit, props to Poser/CP! :)

Quote - For me, it's a simple matter of wanting to keep all my animations in one spot. If I can embed YouTube videos there, I'd be interested, but it doesn't look like I can. If I'm wrong, let me know and I'll happily contribute.
Don't think there's a way to embed YouTube videos there - but there's a growing audience on Vimeo and it's a different audience than YouTube because Vimeo only accepts videos that were created by the people who are uploading them, so you don't have music videos and commercials etc. Better feedback too. :)
Good luck with the animations - I take my hat off to anyone who creates them, because they can be a pain in the @ss!!!

not very hard at all.. I use the Transposer, the plugin for Carrara. Some people hate the Transposer and use the Native Import but like because it keeps the morphs etc. intact. Just moves really slow... everyone has their own workflow though... all about results.
I usually create/save the characters in Poser (complete with animations) then:
Depending on which one you use you may have to adjust the size of the character a bit. Not sure why you wouldn't see the character.. unless their overall size was set to like 1 (out of 100)
Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any questions... :)
