I just did some further experiments and determined that the problem was that I'm not waiting long enough! Despite getting a 'opengl conversion 100%' message in Bryce it seems that some internal processing still has to take place and that simply minimising the program (it doesn't seem to happen whilst it's onscreen) and waiting 10 minutes or so is enough for the program to 'wake up' and display properly in OpenGL. I've found this also occurs with large textures (say 2000 pixels square) even when applied to a 2d square directly in Bryce. Darlissa did mention something about waiting several minutes for the OpenGL conversion process but I thought she was referring to the actual import. It seems that for some of us at least that the OpenGL display in Bryce 5.5a is far more spotty than it should be, especially considering how comparitively well it works in Studio. I guess if you've got more complex scenes it's OK to wait for the OpenGL to 'kick in' but for me it's quicker in many cases simply to do an actual render before I can get a decent OpenGL 'preview'.

Excellent rendition of this classic Dr Who villain. I loved that show (plan on watching the 'Talons of Wen Chiang tonight!) and think you've captured him perfectly.

Pogmahone I hope this continuing saga doesn't get you down any further. To those continuing the mudslinging I suggest 30 hours of community service might be an appropriate sentence. Stop wasting your energies trying to hurt someone (someone you don't even know!) and get out and help somebody in real need. You'll feel better for it and may achieve something instead of (maybe) making you feel like you've 'won' something here (and making yourselves look like bratty children to the rest of us).

Those hospital rooms are excellent, if perhaps a little dated (sort of a 70s - 80s look to them), but I think that adds to the charm in many ways. Does anyone know where I might get them from? I think they'd be really useful for a small pamphlet I'm preparing for local children about what they might experience if they go to hospital.
Thread: POSER STARTUP TIME.... LONGER WITH A BIG RINTIME ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I recently noticed I was having a slower than normal startup time for Poser. I keep all my scenes in a pz3file folder in my runtime. I had accidently placed 3 shortcut files (links) to pz3 files in that folder which I had subsequently deleted. When I found those links and deleted them my load time was under 15 seconds - before over a minute. So perhaps Poser is checking files and their links on startup?

Pidjy, I'm sorry to hear of your sad news. I've been a nurse for 20 years and have seen many people through their deaths from bone cancer, and have even had a rare cancer myself (and had a tumour removed a couple of weeks ago). I know that people mean well when they tell you to fight, but sometimes fighting does you no good at all, and just ends up making you feel bad when you lose. Sometimes you cannot win, no matter how hard you fight, and it sounds like you've been given this kind of prognosis yourself. Sure, some people survive for long periods, but many more do not. I'm not saying this to be depressing or morbid, just so that you might make better use of the time you have. Spend your time loving your family and friends, making them know how much you cherish them, rather than struggling against what is probably an unbeatable foe. If you survive after all, then you've spent your time well anyway, rather than fixating on the struggle. The number of people who I've seen go to their grave feeling that their death from cancer is somehow their fault because they didn't 'fight hard enough' is saddening. So, do the things you need to do, spend your time with your loved ones, and take pleasure in those special moments you still have. I have cried the tears myself, thinking my own cancer would make me leave my loved ones. I sincerely hope you don't suffer too much, and that you and your family get through this as well as possible.
Thread: New P-BOOOST Problem...... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well, I hop ethis reply doesn't disappear into the void like the last 2.... Thanks to help from Hogwarden, and some ideas posted here. I have been able to pretty much get P-BOOOST working well. Thanks to everyone for their replies, I really do appreciate hearing that I wasn't alone in having some problems, and hearing about other peoples solutions gave me the encouragement to continue with this utility.

As a nurse / educator I thought about the benefits of having something like this myself. It would be even better if someone made conformable organs - heart, lungs, etc that could be loaded as needed into a suitable body and skeleton.

I would love to have something that renders even as well as my old Bryce 4 for atmospheres etc.

Anton, you're not at the bottom, any more than Mercedes is at the bottom of luxury cars - they may not be as desirable as a Lambourghini, but they're still pretty damn fine!
