Were we suppossed to work this out using guesswork ? If I'm logged in and click on "My Gallery" it doesn't take me to that page and on my gallery page that it does take me to, the correct URL for external linking for non-members is not displayed.

Resolved - except external links to personal galleries now require everyone to be logged in !!

Please change this so non-members again have access to personal galleries.

Apologies - make my complaint that the details of how to link to someone's gallery should be in a separate box like it used to be and not hidden in the rest of the mostly useless information in tiny text !

1. The 3 step viewing, thumb to in between to full size really stinks. Please revert to going from thumb direct to fullsize !!

2. It appears I can no longer provide people with external links to my own gallery on R'osity - please fix this as soon as possible !!

Hi all, I agree with what Rykk said about dry spells, for me it goes with both image creation and formula creation. I also find that when I've created a new formula or colouring some particularly good images usually follow, I'm guessing most folks are the same when they find a new way of using a formula or colouring or suss out a good way of using one they've not tried before. What surprises me is that how productive I am with fractal images or formulas seems totally unrelated to how busy I am in my "proper" programming work - I strictly keep "work" to weekdays from 9 to 6 but the amount of effort involved varies considerably :-) Sort of based on Rick's point, my rule is that I always keep the UPRs I've done even if I've given up on "finishing" the image at the time because I nearly always find that going back to such an image when I'm more "in the groove" produces a decent result, many of my best images (IMHO) over the last few months have been from works I shelved between one year and 4 years ago.

Does that work in a signature ?

I used the one that came free with Adobe Photoshop - if you've got that and haven't seen the utility, it should be somewhere in your control panel. But I don't use Photoshop on my new PC and I set that up using WiziWYG from Praxisoft - the monitors and video cards on my three machines here at home are completely different but WiziWYG and the Adobe utility have meant that my images look much the same on each system (not identical though). As for colour matching when printing - that's a whole different ballgame mainly due to the reduced colour gamut when printing (especially for blue).

Also - it ain't just the monitor - switch video cards and you'll see what I mean :-)

Another tip to those newer to fractals is that if the fractal itself is quite "busy", i.e. has lots of smaller detail, then as a general rule it's better to use fewer colours/slower colour changes whereas if the fractal is less busy then it's better to add detail by increasing the number of colours/rate of colour change. Creating a good result on a busy fractal with many colours/fast colour changes is possible (Rykk, Deagol etc.) but is more difficult and requires considerable skill/experience - it's a skill that I've not acquired yet !!
