Eowyn, I certainly wasnt talking about you! Limiting pictures because not everyone has time to look at them all is like saying, There is too much air because I dont have time to breathe it all. Or There are too many flowers because I dont have time to see or smell them all. Just because one individual cant look at all the postings doesnt mean someone doesnt look them at them. If you miss them because you dont have time to look at them or if you miss them because limits keep them from being posted you still miss them. True there are some postings that are the same picture only slightly changed, but really, that doesnt happen very often. Not compared to the amount of true artwork that gets posted.

I enjoy coming here and looking at the artwork. The forums are fine and downloads are great but artwork is where the true heart of renderosity is. People who want to limit the amount of art posted here because it covers up or buries their art are being selfish. Artwork does not have to be great to be appreciated. This is not the first time that artwork uploads have been limited. They were taken to 3 a day. If there is a reason, such as speeding up browsing or saving server space, for limiting the number of downloads further then by all means Im all for it. If however its just because some people feel like they should be in the spotlight longer then forget it. I just went to some of the galleries of people complaining here and let me tell you, youre stuff isnt all that great. Ive seen better stuff on post-it notes. So give the beginners and people who arent so good and people who dont have the latest software some slack. Im voting it doesnt matter. This is the best art site on the net and Ill come here no matter the number of post. If you want to flame my artwork over this feel free, I could use the comments. ;~)
Thread: Why do you use the Fractal software you do? What turns you on about it? | Forum: Fractals
Like Rosemaryr I started years ago with the dos version of Fractint. I bought the books written by the Stone Group and delved deep into the fractal universe. For me and Im sure for many others all fractal programs are compared to Fractint. Now I primarily use Tierazon and UF but I still go back to fractals Ive saved out of Fractint and use them as textures in my 3d work. Im a fractal explorer from way back and the program I used the most to explore the fractal universe was Fractint.

Comments, you get comments? Wow ... haha ;~) Just kidding. From my experience the comments here at osity aren't a very good indicator. The most reliable responses are in the forums like this one, or IM's, or email. Your fractals are very good and I think the ones you've chosen to post show good taste on your part. By all means Do the ones You Like. Just remember, friends are always too nice, newbies are always too harsh, and 99.99% of viewers ohhhh and ahhhh and then move on without leaving a comment. Have fun, Ray

Michelle, There may have been a mix up in the winners. Fall- #10 was done by MakinMagic. I have to admit I like MakinMagic's better than mine. ;~) It's got a great flow to it. Congratulations David. Good work. Ray

I don't know Michelle. I'd have to see them side by side to see if they work artistically. You might not want to lock yourself into it until you see how it works. Give it a try and then post it for comments. Then you can see if it might work in the magazine. Ray

I went through each thread and chose the pictures I am voting for. There are so many great pictures it was really hard to choose. I made a point of not looking at the names of who created each one. I looked for the most striking picture that fit the season theme. Spring- #15 Summer- #13 Fall- #8 Winter- #8

Artists are thieves. Some cultures, old and new, thought that an artist would steal your soul if they made a picture or photograph of someone. On that note I second what has been said before. There are so many wonderful fractals here that I would love to use in my ever so humble artwork. But to do that I would need permission and the parameter files so I could tweak them and make them larger to use as textures. It would be great to participate in an exchange of fractals and parameter files. I would like to see a take this and use it area, maybe a backroom, where this could happen.

whoa [w , hw ] interjection stop: used to order an animal, or humorously, a person, to stop What the ... Karen, that is one of the most fantastic fractals I've ever seen, and let me tell you, I've seen thousands of fractals. Autumn Flameburst on Jupiter pops into my mind. Tornado after tornado raging through the upper atmosphere in a beautiful display of natures power. Okay, I may be getting a little carried away, but really Karen, I'm stunned by the incredible feeling of energy and movement in this piece. Well done!
