Thread: What is the difference between LaFemme and LaFemme Pro base figures? | Forum: Poser 11 / Poser Pro 11 OFFICIAL Technical
Thanks for the response, NikKelly. You are correct, LaFemme Pro does have more morphs built-in. But my question was whether the base LaFemme figure would have the same head/face morphs with the LaFemme Head Morphs package injected.
Thread: Reactivating Poser 2012? | Forum: Poser 12
Okay, thank you to all for helping out. In the end, I got my Poser Pro 2012 working again. Turns out that Red Phantom was correct, but it took me awhile to figure out that I needed to edit the .ini file in an update version, not the original version 9. So I have my content library back and PP2012 is functional again. Of course, I also get the undocked content pain issue, but I can live with that. As for Poser 12, I guess I have too many versions installed on too many machines. Sorry about that, and thanks again to everyone.
Thread: Reactivating Poser 2012? | Forum: Poser 12
Thank you for responding, Jimmy. Yes. it is Poser Pro 2012, which I purchased from Smith Micro just before they sold Poser to Bondware/Renderosity. It was activated, did not require an internet connection, and worked fine. Then, Renderosity offered users of Poser Pro 2012 the opportunity to upgrade to the first version of their Poser 12, which offered Superfly and other enhancements, for free. OK, I thought, sounds like a good deal. I downloaded and installed the upgrade and it was working just fine, with all the features, and access to my existing content folders. Until I became ill and failed to routinely fire up and use the workstation it was installed on. When I did get around to doing so just recently, my installation of Poser 12, which had been working fine, had reverted back to Poser Pro 2012, which would have been fine if it had remained activated, but it wasn't - it needed to reactivate using the Smith Micro servers, which no longer were available. In short, I lost my application because of Bondware's DRM activation system. If I had not upgraded to Poser 12, I would still happily be using my perpetually licensed Poser Pro 2012. The issue had nothing to do with Flash, or Python. It was Poser 12's DRM.

Thanks to mdbruffy, Rhia474, EClark1894 and Deecey for the reassurance. I uninstalled the download manager.
Thread: Poser 11.2 - Upgrade or not? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
OK, here's a bit of a technical question that has arisen after I installed the update to 11.2. Does the Smith Micro Download Manager any longer serve any purpose? Is it still being used by the program and re-directing to the Bondware servers, or can it safely be blown away?
Thread: Poser 11.2 - Upgrade or not? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks, md. I guess I'll haul it all down and see what there is. There do seem to be readme files included that list the content of each. Posting that somewhere would be helpful. Maybe I'll do it when I'm done. Thanks for the response.
Thread: Poser 11.2 - Upgrade or not? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I wish that there was something somewhere that listed the contents of each of the content downloads. I really don't want to be downloading anything that I already have or do not want, if possible. Alternatively, can anyone who has downloaded the content tell me whether the contents of the five .zip archives beginning with the name "PoserPremiumContent" represents entirely new content, different from that previously downloaded with the original installation of Poser 11 Pro? I hate to waste Gigabytes of bandwidth unnecessarily. Any insight would be appreciated, thanks.
Thread: Promotional offer on La Femme | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
There is little point in debating marketing semantics in my opinion, Miss B. Nothing is free if there is a catch. The creators of the figure may not be getting anything, but I must side with those who say that if you need to spend money in order to get it, it does not matter what you are technically spending the money on, one is not getting the claimed free content at no cost. There is plenty of free content available that does not require a purchase, so how then does one classify that? More free? Extra free? The term 'free" is an absolute, and qualification therefore means that it is not. The term "free with purchase" is pure marketing and an oxymoron.
For the record, I did make a purchase and get the figure, but I certainly don't believe that I got it for free. I got it as part of a bundle that I purchased that included the figure and the other content.

Thread: Poser Pro 11.1 Upgrade Odd Behaviour | Forum: Poser 11 / Poser Pro 11 OFFICIAL Technical
Ah! Now it makes sense. Since I had Poser Pro 2012, which did not use the Download Manager, there was no previous version, so no prompt. Thank you Andy! I believe that I will just leave things be for now, although, as I said, I'm not certain I will really have a need for both. Thanks again.
Thread: Two newbie questions -DAZ 4.9- | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Hi, Peregrino.
Firstly, regarding using images in DAZ Studio, they are usually used as backgrounds and I'm assuming that that is what you are referring to. There are two ways to do this. The first is to simply load the file as a backdrop. There is an icon on the taskbar that looks like a mountain with a sun overhead that will produce a popup when clicked that will in turn allow you to browse to the location of your image and load it. The disadvantage of this approach is that the image will follow your camera around and appear centred in the viewport regardless of the relative positions of your subjects. It cannot be scaled or moved, which may not always be desirable. The second way is to add a primitive to your scene such as a plane, and add your image to it as a surface in the Surfaces tab. The advantage of this is that you can now scale the image and/or move it around in your scene to your liking. It is an actual scene element and will also relect light and accept shadows if desired.
As for content, much of the content sold here at Renderosity is in Poser format. It should still work fine in DAZ Studio, except that it is packaged within a runtime folder. New users often mistakenly install the runtime folder in the wrong place, by placing it in the existing runtime folder that you'll find in your content library. It should be copied to the folder above that in the folder hierarchy, whereupon you will be asked if you want to merge the runtimes and to which you should answer "yes". Some products, such as those designed for the Genesis figure and newer, will contain DAZ Studio files and folders that are not in the runtime folder hierarchy. These go into your content library folder, too. I recommend that you create a folder somewhere convenient on your fard drive to temporarily store files before moving them to your content library. Since invariably the products come packaged as compressed archives (i.e. "zips"), they'll need to be uncompressed anyway, and I always like to do this first so I can have a look at the internal folder structure and confirm where things go.
