Hi bwtr -- I like to think of the scene size as the dimensions of the virtual 'stage' that I'm 'shooting' on -- you have your choice of a 30 inch stage for objects and closeups, a 30 foot stage for rooms, people, etc., and a 3000 foot stage for landscapes, space scenes, etc. Objects come into each stage at their fixed virtual size -- you may have to resize things so that they are in scale with each other. For example, Michael 2 comes into a medium scene at right about 6 feet tall; in a small scene at just over 72 inches tall -- about the same height either way. The only difference is whether he's standing in a 30 inch stage or a 30 foot stage. I believe the stage size will also impact scene effects like atmosphere, etc., and how fast you can move the camera through the area. Now, my only problem with this is that I created a lot of stuff previously without being accurate about the scale -- but it's fairly easy to resize things using the Motion tab...

Thread: Can Carrara create cloud effects like this | Forum: Carrara
Thanks for the repy, but that doesn't work for me -- no matter where I am on the timeline, any change I make to the volumetric cloud changes the setting at frame 0 -- with no key frame added at the frame I'm at on either the master or the instance. Am I nuts?  Are you really producing animated volumetric clouds? Thanks! (I've got 5.1 Pro installed, on Mac OSX 10.3, just in case.)

On the subject of the volumetric clouds -- I asked once before but never got a reply -- does anyone know how to make the clouds animate? I've tried putting numbers in the 'animate' window (it seems you can't set keyframes, it just changes the setting from frame one no matter where on the timeline you type). No matter what I do, I don't seem to get any animation. If someone knows how, I'd appreciate hearing about it! Thanks!

You can use the replicator to place the bazillion volumetric clouds -- make sure to randomize the scale and rotation to make them look more random...

Hey, thanks guys! I took Simon's advice, and looked up portable hard drives. I ordered a battery-powered one that stores 40Gb without needing a computer -- you just plug the flash memory into it and transfer. It was about the cost of 2Gb of flash memory -- and I don't have to find a computer to store the data. Should arrive tomorrow -- should be cool! Thanks again!

I think if you save just the multichannel part of the iris layer as a separate shader, you could then drag it back and replace the iris layer of a different layers list shader. You should be able to replace just the part you need and leave the rest. Hope this makes sense...Â

By the way, the sparkly dress is basically two rectangles sown together at the shoulders with an opening left for the head, then gathered to fit at the shoulders. It appears to be attached to the belt only at the sides to keep her breasts from being exposed, but drapes the rest of the way down -- if she were to spin to quickly, everyone around would get a show. (Although the actress probably had some kind of concealed/glued-on undergarment on the set.)

You've got pictures of two different dresses -- the open-at-the-side/sparkly dress has no sleeves -- the jersey dress (posts 13 and 15) has hankerchief sleeves that appear to be extentions of the front and back panels of the upper part of the dress. The sparkly dress is from the "sex circuit" scene -- the other was her regular outfit...
