I used to drop by Renderosity quite often to see what others were up to and get ideas. Just lurking mostly. Last few months I find that more ( not all ) posts are of a negative tone and I tire of it. Guess I'll check back in a few months to see if it has changed.

You know you need to take a deep breath there Stanley.
"This sale may be a boon to those that don't already own C8.1, but if you do, and bought it, you just paid DAZ to screw you over, and DAZ didn't even give you a proper reach around did they?"
Insulting people because they spent their money how they wanted doesn't seem quite right to me. I get you don't think it's a good deal, but I did and I spent my money. I did because I wanted to. And it was my money.
I don't cheer for DAZ and get confused by thier policies sometimes.
I do think Carrara is a good product at the price I paid. That is my opinion and I am entittled to it. You are entitled to yours.
Hopefully we will all be creating and rendering in what ever tools we choose in the near future. Have a nice day.

You do good stuff too, Mr Moderator. Still using and learning from your C6 Pro Training DVD. www.vtc.com still lists the C6 Pro as well as your C7 Pro. Just used mine yesterday to try and get some ideas into my old noggin.

I love C8.5 Pro, I spent the money to upgrade from C8.1 Pro and I don't regret it. Feature wise I find Carrara capable of so much in the 3d world. I know it's not the best at any one thing, but for the money it's a great deal. That's just my opinion and I allow others differ.
I wish DAZ was a little better at PR for Carrara and at customer support. C8.5 Pro just told me my serial number is invalid. ???? I see on the DAZ site I am not alone. They got my money and I have been using C8.5 Pro since Aug 20th. Now a week later they do something to my account and I can't run C8.5 anymore. Glad I left 8.1 on my system.
I know it's just some kind of glitch, but a week later ???

Thread: i5 750 vs e8400 cpu for Carrara 8 rendering | Forum: Carrara
The E8400 has dual cores @ 3.0 GHZ 6mb L2 cache,
the i5 750 has four cores @ 2.66 GHZ 8mb L2 cache
If only it were simple as looking at the specs....
however once in awhile you run across something that helps. From the following website
www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/801/4
comes a little nugget - Core i5-750 achieved an overall PCMark score 4.85% higher than Core i7-920 (which runs at the same clock rate), 34.25% higher than Core 2 Duo E8400
Other than having two similar systems to do actual render tests I can't tell you what percentage increase in render speed you would get, but I'm betting it would be significant enough for you to take notice.

Thread: Ten years of selling at Renderosity | Forum: Carrara
Well a quick check of google gave me holyforest website: http://www.holyforest.com/page14/
Stores listed on that site were: DAZ3D, Carrara Expo (dead link) and Carrara Lounge
The DAZ3D link brings you to her products, the Carrara Lounge link is generic link to the site, but I was unable to find a store link there. Maybe GKDantas can help on that one.

Thread: OT: Free Royalty Free animation Background music | Forum: Carrara
Have you looked into music creation software such as FL Studio (ther are others as well)?
If you have any musical talent (or know someone who does) this could be an option that allows you to fit the piece to your animation.

Any comments you would like to share as to why you are leaving the Renderosity store?
As someone who is looking into outlets for products I'm curious.

I miss Brian (BWTR), he would have had that link right at hand and would have lauded your effort to "READ THE MANUAL" :)

try this link
http://documentation.daz3d.com/carrara/Carrara7_User_Guide.pdf
You know this should be readily available at DAZ, but I spent an hour and a half searching for the manual and couldn't find anything other than C8 manual. one quick Google search netted this link, all of 5 seconds.
Might have had something to do with it being 3 am when I started.

Thread: Bad news about GKDantas | Forum: Carrara
Just a few points.to refocus this thread to what was the intent of yarp ( as I see it)
1 - GKDantas has made significant contributions to this community with sharing his knowledge and Carrara Lounge
2 - He is in need of assistance in this difficult time.
3 - I'm off to GKDantas's store to get some good stuff and do my part to help out.
Also I would like to point out that bwtr has been a valuable asset in learning Carrara and both of these gentlemen have given freely of their time to help others here and at other sites. They both seem like nice gentlemen whom I admire. I wish the best for both of them.
Can we join hands in a circle and sing kumbaya now?

@klebnor: How about a render so we can all see before we decide to download?
@bwtr: Brian it may be my eyes are playing tricks on me (they are not as good as they used to be) but it looks like the shadows are not consistent in your last shot. The flowers in the foreground in particular. For reference assume directly out of the screen is south, flowers on right appear to cast shadows to southeast, flowers in center more south, flowers to the left to southwest. Is your light above and behind the flower bed?
