Thread: Computer Arts free Poser 3 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Have to wait to see what the upgrade offers are, but I bet it'll be high for the full version (that's right isn't it, C4D comes in umpty different configurations?)
Thread: DAZ "Mystery Model" | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Being Mike-related wouldn't stop its being for sale - people who don't buy Mike2 in the offer period won't get it free, and it may well at least partially work with M1.
There DAZ, I've done some of your FAQ-answering for you, could you use the time saved to send me a teeny mystery model hint? I won't share, [cross fingers] promise.[uncross fingers]

Thread: Need Magnet Target Deal Thing | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes, it's very useful - I'd downloaded it ages ago and I've just been strating with magnets (I'm SLOW, OK? hmm, can't type either) and the target makes it really easy to see what you are doing - thanks Trav.

I have a PIII450 (with Win98SE, in case any of my instructions don't work on your system), which is about as lowly as you can get for that processor, no problems with 4 people in a scene even before I added more memory (was 256MB, now 768 - you can find how much memory you have by right-clicking on My Computer, selecting Properties from the menu and clicking on the Performance tab). How many other applications do you have running? Press Ctrl-Alt-Del ONCE to get a list of everything that's running, then cancel out of the dialogue. How much free disk space - double-click on My Computer, then click on each drive in turn to get a summary in the left hand pane.

I can't remember how the original went, but here the light is strongest on the hatchling's head and fades towards the tail - maybe that makes it look as if she* is lunging forward aggresively rather than pulling back defensively? Richard H * well, how do you know the adult hatchling is daddy not mummy?
Thread: Poser Path Poll: ATTN anyone with geometry problems | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
DOS used to limit you to something like 100 items in the root directory (C: etc.) so collecting stuff together was a good idea (just a pity no one did it before Win 95). Personally I like having a folder for apps, a folder for docs and a folder for the OS: I just wish Poser could look for its stuff in My DocumentsSomething-or-other as well as Runtime so that I didn't have to keep some of my data in Program files.

Having the publisher's name in the path makes sense for companies like Adobe, Macromedia or Corel who have lots of products (there's another one too - Mini-something?) and I suppose the smaller companies like the style, or maybe they hope you'll buy lots of other stuff from them (after all there are ProPack and Avatar Lab from CL).

Thread: REALLY NEED HELP WITH POSER! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ron I wasn't suggesting not asking about the update, but rather that we should also make sure they do actually need it (no idea how big a file it is to download but probably enough to annoy moem users, and people may get even more confused if they try installing without realising they already have it)

Surely a Poser newbie will already have 4.03 on the CD? Mine says 4.0.3.127 as installed, and I've had it for over a year.

Actually, at the moment she prefers to sunbathe under the anglepoise on the system box (an old-style horizontal) and, if I'm not quick enough, sends a stack of cover-discs cascading down the back, where at least one ends up nestled between cables and is a pain to fish out without disturbing her.
