Yeah, me being a little quick off the mark.... Paolo has confirmed it is only for Poser :(
Just gonna have to kick back and wait for the Studio version ;)

Sorry if this has been answered already, but I've just ran through 10 pages and not found the answer....
I've just upgraded to 3 from 2.5 because I got the email saying it was out.... I use Daz Studio rather than Poser, and have just upgraded that to the 4.6 version.
I've spent my money too soon haven't I? :-s

I'm in serious trouble with Reality.... my computer just bogs down with it. Even after restarting to log out all other users, only having Daz and the render going it takes aaaaggggeeeessss.....
I know it's my current computer spec. I'm only running a Dual core (3.2ghz) with 3 Gb ram....
So, if you're happy with your render times, do you want to shout out your spec? I'm looking to get a new motherboard/processor bundle, but not sure what yet. (Though it's heading towards AMD, Intel chips are coo costly for the performance comparison IMO)
Look forward to finding out more from you guys!
Cheers!
Mike

Thread: Importing Poser Objects | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Thanks for the replies.
Yeah, the object is grouped and named correctly (just chest and abdomen needed for it) - it imports ok into Studio as an object but obviously doesn't conform without the rigging bit - which is where I'm stuck ;-)
RHaseltine, "You can create it as a figure in DS" - yes. Any idea how? That's the bit that's stopping me getting it right doing it purely in Studio... :-) Again, the size and grouping is correct in the .obj even when imported into Studio.
Many thanks!
Mike

Thread: How long do we give vendors to reply to queries? | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
Ahhh, many thanks, working fine now.
Not sure how I missed that, but it seems I did. I suppose my only solace is that I'm not the only one!
Thanks for your involvement, I honestly didn't expect that, but really appreciated - though the vendor answering the mail would have made me happy sooner lol.
Best regards!
Mike.

Thread: Group objects selection Possible? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Yeah superboom, that's what I used. Last time I was messing with it I exported them as OBJ files but they didn't take the materials. This time I used "Send to Studio" and no problems, other than the whole losing the group issue. Sorry, don't have any actual tips cos overall I was happy with what it did for me :-s
But bridges are a sore subject - I wanted to use the Photoshop bridge and spent silly time on that. My PS is a 32 bit version, Studio is 64 bit. Install the 64 bit into the PS directory, it shows in Studio ok but not PS and vice versa. And the 2 versions don't talk. Meh. (Sorry, went a bit O/T there, it really ground my gears last night lol)

Big thanks for this one guys - I've created a few items in Bryce that consist of several elements. (Top hat, Steampunk Goggles eyepiece) which I found wouldn't stay grouped in Studio and was really wound up about it.
Adding the null parent has worked, big thanks. For having the 'Send to Daz Studio' function, it still doesn't make life too easy lol.

Thread: -- Helping Daz Studio Newbies -- | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I created a character who is standing with one arm up and out in front. When rendering, the fingers are amazing - crisp, focussed etc. The face and hair however is blurry. I've messed around with the DOF and the F-settings (I used to be pretty OK with my SLR so I get it), and on screen had the box pretty much as shown above - also tried it a bit tighter.... but my face and hair are STILL blurry! If I turn DOF off, still the same.
I get the feeling it's me messing up, but bejeezus, I can't find the solution :'(
Any help would be appreciated, I've attached my settings.
Cheers.

Dats how I got my avatar pic!!! Any more of me visible and I'm sorry but a NSFV (Not Safe For Viewing) warning would be needed :-S

Thread: Memory card tips.. | Forum: Photography
Regarding Tip 1 - I'm sure we've all done it, I know I have - and I have found Piriform's Recuva program to be excellent for retrieving what I thought was lost data - it also allows you to secure overwrite data so when you sell the camera/pass it on you're not giving away any pictures. (Something people now bear in mind when selling a computer but seem to completely ignore when passing on a camera or card!) And no, I have no connection with them, but love the program. :-)
And is it just the way I'm reading it or does Tip 2 say one thing then contradict itself? lol

Ah, now you tease - there is a massive difference between footballers and photographers! But if you have the latent talent of a world class footballer and you practice like a professional footballer who says you couldn't? Glad we came to agreement!
Lol :-)

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the ability of the photographers - I completely agree that they're sent there usually BECAUSE they're good.
But the only difference between an amateur and a professional a lot of the time is the fact that the professional gets paid for it. I don't believe I mentioned the photographers themselves anywhere, only the difference between 'them' and 'us' being the fact that they are 'there' and we are not. I've seen photographers here in the Renderosity forum and gallery that, given the same location, could equal top newsworthy shots, and probably in the same timeframe.
And do I think it's that easy? Call me cocky, big-headed or any other term, but yes, I DO think it's easy. I can work to a deadline, I can take good pictures (when I can be bothered and put some effort into it). That's exactly the point I'm making.,.......that some of the time it IS that easy, and some of the time (and from reading interviews in magazines and on the net a lot of people who have taken iconic photos) it's down to pure luck - right time, right place.
Like I said to a friend while I was in the States - you've got to be in the Rockies to take a good photo of the Rockies.............
:-)
