Quote - Nice to follow a link and see porn, thanks....appreciated that a lot.
If you followed that link and saw porn, you should scan your system for a hijacker.
There is no porn when I follow that link.

If you don't want to install Firefox (???), you can always get a download manager program from a site like TUCOWS (http://www.tucows.com ) or Download.com (http://www.download.com).
When I purchased Vue, I got the digital version and downloaded it just fine with IE.
Thread: DEM tutorial | Forum: Vue
Does anyone know what format DEM files are used with VistaPro?
I have an old copy ( v4.0) of Vista Pro, and it has a whole CD of DEM files, but Vue refuses to import them. What I have to do is import them into Bryce (5.5), then export as either obj or "copy" the image in the Bryce Terrain Editor, and paste it into a photo program before importing into Vue.
That makes for a long process, and it would be much easier if Vue could read these files!
Thread: customizing models in V6 | Forum: Vue
On some models, you may be able to "Edit" the model, and separate the materials, and from that separate the model pieces. I have done that with some of the included Vue content as well as imports from other programs.
Other models that you import may be textured, or may just have shaders. Most models I have used that weren't already Vue specific VOB files, I have had to tweak once imported. Some a little, such as Pozer files, some extensively, such as some 3ds files that have no textures included.
Thread: Vue 6 Pro Studio 6.60 Build 292470 ? | Forum: Vue
I have run across a few bugs with Vue Pro 6.6 update when dealing with Eco-Systems.Â
    - Removing Eco-system layers does not remove the plants from the terrain.
    - Distribution maps do not map the same in all layers.
    - Eco-systems in mixed materials with a function for the distribution of the two materials sometimes bleed over to the other material.
But everything else seems to be working well. It might be because I updated to 6.6 before I upgraded from Vue 6 Esprit to Pro. But when I downloaded the Pro update, it was the same file, same size...
Thread: Vue 6 on a Laptop? | Forum: Vue
Tim,
I am a Trainer for Dell Tech support.
The Mobile Workstations should not have a problem with cooling, they are designed as desktop replacement systems and are Dell's highest end portable computers. I use one (an older model than the one you ask about) and it handles Vue 6 Pro just fine. The downside is it won't run very long on a battery.
The M6300 is still a currently shipping system, and does have a 17" display. And the nice thing with Dell, the warranty transfers with the new owner, and Mobile Workstations come standard with a 3 year warranty, however when ordered, the customer can specify a shorter or longer warranty. But it is at least on site service for the MWs.
If you can get the service tag for the system (on the UPC tag on the botthom), you can go to support.dell.com and look up the warranty and what all the system came with. If the deal does go through, you need to go to support.dell.com, click on customer service, and then ownership transfer before you need support for the system.
If you have any other questions, fell free to PM me and I can look the system up and give you more info if you need it.

I started with Bryce 2 myself, then wince I was working at a school, got a chance for an educational bundle that had Bryce 3, Poser 3, Ray Dream Studio 5, and Painter.
I started Vue with version 2, and just can't go back to the Bryce interface anymore. However, I do still use Bryce 5.5 from time to time to make landscapes that I export and use in Vue :)

Quote - Silverblade, Stormchaser & Red Dog - I assume that means that all of you have more than 512 kb of RAM? ;)
OMG! How can you do ANYTHING with Vue using only 512 MB of RAM (I think you meant MB, not kb - lol).
Memory is the cheapest upgrade you can do. Even my old system that only uses DDR memory it was only $100 to upgrade to 2GB of good quality memory. And it makes all the difference in the world in Vue's stability.
I used to get crashes all the time with Vue with just 1 GB. Especially when I upgraded to Vue 6.
Invest in an upgrade to at least 2GB on your system, you will be so much happier with Vue!

Quote - Nearly always start with Poser or other main model first, then assemble scene to fit them :)
I do the same. Sometimes, it is an object or character that inspires the creative juices and the scene pops into my head that I try to get Vue to recreate for me.
I usually do the atmosphere and lighting last since complex lighting will many times slow down test renders for placement and perspective.

Thread: Eco-Systems question | Forum: Vue
I had already turned off the decay near foreign objects, and it made no difference as to the density on the ground... just the density around the trees.
I see now how to do layers with Eco-systems, but I can't see where you are talking about with the aspect tab of the object manager... what screen are you refering to here?

I am one of those that likes to Render in just one app.
Now, I have been known to make a landscape in Bryce (5.5). And I have an old copy of VistaPro (4.0) that cam with a full CD of DEM files. For some reason, Vue will not read them, but I can load them in Bryce, and export them to Vue for use.
I also have Ray Dream for creating objects, several assorted programs for viewing 3d objects and converting them to other formats, and Poser of course :)
And a little off topic, but if you are looking for a great collection of 3d objects, keep your eyes open for an old program called Tri-Gallery. I have all 4 of the sets. They have a large collection of all kinds of 3d objects, complete with textures, that can be exported in many 3d formats. The 3ds format imports perfectly into Vue complete with texture mapping. I got the set of 4 from eBay for $20.
