Sorry for being a bit harsh there, but I'm just sick of the constant blasting and lack of respect shown in forums these days.

Thanks Stallion... I know several other AMD owners who love their pc too and have no probs with them... Having read a lot of forums where peeps are having the same problem it's starting to look that way. My pc is a mere dinosaur compared to some that are having problems with Poser7.... so if it's working so grand on mine what's their problem, other than graphics card?
BTW Dizzi... where does it say I said my son was an expert?????..... funny how humans keep reading or hearing my words but assuming I say or mean something totaly different.... READ MY WORDS!.... "my son is the PC Tech of the family"... can anyone say... 'pr***' ........ just don't tempt me OK? I am not in the mood! AND! I am trying to help some one use poser 7 instead of blasting this supurb program as being the problem!!!!!!!!!!!... If Poser7 is working beautifuly fast on my pc, AND A LOT OF OTHERS, and with NO bugs or crashes or hangups... then what IS wrong with other people's pc's if Poser7 is screwing up on theirs?????.... hu? HU?
I think I rest my case... don't you???

OK, I've been talking to my son who's the PC tech of the family, he says it's more than likely your graphics card. He says you have a PCI graphics card which are not specifically set right for graphics programs.
Before you go off on that, he says if you have one that works with graphics programs perfectly well then you have been lucky, but if you change to an AGP slot card it should solve your problems.
Just because Poser 6 works fine with your graphics card don't mean to say we're wrong either, but there must be something Poser 7 does that don't agree with your current PCI card.
My son said PCI cards sort of go around the long way to get to a point and is more suited to ordinary web browsing and pc TV use, where as an AGP card is graphics dedicated for graphic programs and gaming so goes straight to the point.... if you get my meaning.
When I first got my pc I had big problems with graphics programs and stuff so my son checked the graphics card to find a PCI card installed. I bought a new AGP card and this pc has been just superb ever since. (Pentium4)
I also put deleting to the test in Poser7 and... well... boom it's gone in an instant. I thought it was slightly faster but never really thought much about it till you said and I tested. Seams like the more I use Poser7 the faster and better it's working... LOL
Anyways... I suppose the thing to do is try an AGP graphics card and see what happens.... as long as your pc has a slot for it that is.... which it should, but a rare few don't.
A 700x700 pixel render of a preteen in 4 items of clothing and hair, using bog basic settings, (72 DPI, no shadows etc,) took 6 seconds to render.... WOOOOOSH!.... I didn't even have time to go take a leak... LOL
What processor have you got? BTW. as Athelon (AMD) can be very, very picky too.... IF people can get one to bloody work at all... LOL... and before anyone has a go at me for that, we've had 3, one new and two second hand.... one refused to boot up at all... the other two just crash within minutes to an hour if they do boot... something to do with the heat sink??? that we just cannot solve.... we just can't work out what's up.

I've had to delete items quite often PXP... just a slight increase in speed than poser 6 for me, not so much faster as to make a difference really. But a lot of people are having problems with 7 that they didn't have with 6. Guess I'm lucky not to have anything happen to me... yet... LOL
Other than putting the port speads up to max I've not tweeked this pc in any other way, and I normaly have a browser open as well as PSP or photoshop at the same time too.
I got the ATI 256MG 126-Bit PowerColor9550 GameFX graphics card, BTW
Best to send your error reports as manoloz says then.
All the best of luck, as I'm really hoping people can get their bugs sorted, P7 really is the bees knees to me, and seeing how much trouble others are having when I'm having such fun seems so unfair.

Man!... hope some one here can help... Could be your graphics card, need driver updates, a different sort or something... I've been playing with Poser 7 since the 13th and it runs like a dream for me, and my pc is half that of yours. Just one problem opening one render I saved, the skin has fallen off the bones...and bits of the skelleton are sticking out all over. It's a right mess, no idea how that happened or why.
I've been playing with maybe 20 or so different new items in poser 7, saved maybe as many, and that one is the only one that caused a problem. No crashes, freezes or otherwise for me. And the render times! WOW... so fast!... AND!... the amount of figures, clothing, props etc Poser 7 can cope with makes Poser 6 look how Windows Paint is compared to Photoshop!
Good luck

**Installed 7 this morning and been playing all day. So far I'm overjoyed at the render times, I'm getting about double the speed of 6. Once you get used to playing with the lights the render has been better than expected, rather than far dang worse than expected in 6 more times than not. Shadows are better too....
Sydney is great to work with, did you not notice all the head morphs on the parameter dials hoppersan2000... ?... I made Sydney smile, frown, blink, the lot, far more natural than Vicktoria3 can. But she really does need some extra time spent on lights with her though.
Also had to use the material room to dull down the inside of her mouth, to stop that 'flashlight in the mouth' look, and dull her dazzling white teeth a bit... same old, same old... but at least her tongue looked wet. Not keen on going all the way over to the material room to change some MAT files though... :( .... quicker and easier just going to Pose.
Only played with Sydney, the funny robot cat thing, and the Anatomy bits so far. But I'm more than pleased with what I've made so far. Looks like a lot less postwork is needed too! If you get the lighting right and all the right boxes ticked for render settings, Poser 7 makes a far better render than 6, and with less effort getting things tweaked too.
Keep playing with 7
BTW, I see a few around the forums who are having some problems with Poser 7, it's behaving extremely well for me, like a dream. So if any one is getting hang-ups, or long render times etc, try looking at the specks of your PC. (Graphics card, memory, hard drive size/free space etc) It may not be up to the job.
A fully dressed Sydney only took 20 minutes to render at printing regulations (300 DPI, 3,000 pixel), shadows, the full works to get the best quality. This would have taken Poser 6 fifty minutes to an hour for the same amount of items. A huge extra time posering bonus for me, LOL.
Have fun

Well, I'm also dyslexic... so is my son and one of my nephews... not being able to spell well does NOT quantify a persons intelegence level... want to see my mensa membership???
what does quantify a persons IQ is their lack of understanding and intollerence of a disability!
