Thread: Hexagon 2 for 2 $ ?! | Forum: Vue
I bought the Platinum Club membership this morning $29.95), turned around, bought Hex2 for $1.99. On the second dl attempt, the file came down in under 5 minutes. It is now intalled and running on an AMD 64 machine, under WinXP64 Pro (no virus detected, nor suspected). This is a great deal by any estimation. As a Vue user (new), this is be a no-brainer of a purchase. A modern modeler with paint/UV capabilities, if only Vue can implement a displacement/normal map function. If Vue doesn't have this in 6, then Carrara/Bryce/Hex/Daz Studio team will be growing market share at the expense of E-on. I still prefer the looks of Vue's output (I don't have Carrara), but E-on has a wake up call here.

I also reccomend these volumes. I have 3- Getting Started, Adv Vol1 and Adv Vol2. I intend to pick up the other two. Some of the info covers topics from the Manual (but the simple visual style makes it a little more approachable- function editor/lighting), but overall there are enough solid pieces to really accelerate your Vue learning curves. The Author's simple humor and straigt-forward style makes the material easy and fun.

The thought of the Hexagon 2 displacement modeling technology and a capable landscape rendering program, tied together with a complete 3D rigging and animation interface has me salivating. And at the kind of pricing that a single artist can afford. Are you kidding? What's the problem? This could be a giant slayer of a deal! Check out what Hex2 can do:

Amapi is is a fine application, but the Hex2 technology is now owned by DAZ. This is ZBrush like abilities not just to model, but to to create living natural environments, populated with people and creatures. Carrara is a decent mid level 3D application, now imagine this platform able to model, stage, rig, displace and render your deepest fantasy imagery! Maybe I'm overly enthusiastic, but Maya, XSI, Max aren't capable of doing this for me the way I forsee the possibilities here, certainly not at the price point this aquisition brings. Great news, thank you Daz for your vision here.
