I was caught up in the same situation resulting in the message "You do not have permission to use this coupon". The ambiguous wording only results in frustration and ill will when presumably the opposite was meant. You don't have to offer anything but if you do mean what you say.

Thread: octain/DS and NVIDIA cards.... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Although Octane can use multiple graphics cards it only uses the memory of lowest memory card because all the graphic cards have to load into their memory. So if you got a 4Gb and 2Gb card each will use 2Gb. Pity it does not add together but there you are. So mostly you are better off with one good card.
Thread: Powerage's Elephant Armour | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I bought Powerage elephant armour and have used in with Daz Studio 4.6 without issues. I may have adjusted the matts to be less shiny that's all.
Thread: "Not tested with DAZ Studio" - how dangerous is it? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
The Poser things that will not work are:
a) Poser dynamic clothing (as noted above) - not at all
b) Clothing with Poser shaders - the colours will look funny in Daz Studio but you can compensate using the Surfaces tab or if you have bought some Daz Shaders you can use those. This is the most common incompatibility but its inconvenient rather than a disaster. So if you see something where you really like the geometry its probably worth buying but be prepared to compensate for the textures.
c) Things needing Python scripts - won't work at all.
d) Older Poser characters like Miki2 will work in Daz Studio. New Poser characters e.g Poser 9 on will not but, especially if you have just started out, no need to explore Poser characters. They are not that good and its just novelty.
To be honest that common phrase 'not tested in Daz Studio' irritates the hell out of me because Daz Studio tries hard to allow Poser users to use their items but its not reciprocated.
Thread: The Dawn Figure | Forum: DAZ|Studio
When Dawn came out I was sceptical because I had seen Antonia Polygon and My Michelle flounder. Nonetheless I did get quite a bit of Dawn items (for DS) but its never taken off. Only the Daz created figures seem to do well which leaves Renderosity in a bit of time warp as its PAs still seem to develop mainly for V4. I have so much V4 stuff already that any new V4 items have to be trully exceptional. I think it would be better for users if Daz Studio and Poser were interoperable. It would be great if Poser shaders worked in Daz Studio say. If there was a common system maybe we could get some independent people producers.
Thread: Why Dawn for DS? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I am a Daz user who likes V6 the best but has still bought Dawn content. I like to explore new possibilities and if Daz users buy Dawn things it will make the success of Dawn more likely. As everyone knows there are many, mainly non-Daz figures, which have fallen by the wayside with minimal new products e.g Antonia Polygon, My Michelle, Mikis 3 & 4. So if Dawn gets some support from DS users that has got to be good.
Thread: Ignore button | Forum: Suggestion Box
If the ignore button only prevents YOU from reading the material no-one could reasonably object to that. I thought it was a general censorship button that would prevent anyone from viewing the material if posted on your art work. Am I wrong?
On balance I value free speech more than the ability to remain unchallenged. I've had abusive people on Deviant Art but I find them easy to deal with because abuse carries no argument and I figure that anyone reading the thread would realise that. On the other hand I once commented on a picture by a commercial texture artist. It said nothing derogatory about her work or anything abusive but had the afront to list my opinions of the very best textures available. She got a mention but not right at the top. So she reposted her work and claimed that someone had been really rude to her which was totally untrue. Presumably my crime was not to fit in with her notion that she was the very best texture producer there was. Whats to stop people like that claiming you are being deliberatively disruptive? No share all views and let the reader decide who is being reasonable.
Thread: Ignore button | Forum: Suggestion Box
Trouble with an ignore button is that some people will use it to censor views they don't like rather than be bothered to reason things through.
Thread: Vascularity for M4/V4 Texture sets - W.I.P | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Excellent pictures. Adds alot of realism. I hope this or equivalent will be available to the general public soon.
Thread: Vascularity for V4 in DS4? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
For vascularity I would recommend use of a bump or displacement map. Grey (128) is neutral and whiter colours stand upwards. For the blue vein colour you would have to edit one of your V4 jpeg maps. Probably take you a few hours to get right.
Thread: A SERIOUS QUESTION, what is it that attracts POSER users to Genesis and it's pro | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think the attraction is simply that its new and different and is well supported. V4 is a far more practical bet and anyone starting the hobby would start there. Many people however have been collecting for years and so V4 offers little novelty. Its been out for the last 5 years and do you want to play with it for the next 5 years? People buy Miki 2, Miki3, Anastasia, Antonia, and Michelle for similar reasons. The clothing support for these models is minimal (not too bad for Miki2) and I've had mixed to poor results from cross-dresser but still for a few renders it serves as something new. So the answer to your question is 'novelty'.
Thread: Planning for a new PC | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Rendering is one of the few aspects that uses to advantage as many cores as you can get. Intel Core i7-3960X Extreme Edition 3.30 GHz 6-Core Hyperthreading Processor would be the best possible but is ludricrously expensive and poor value for money. An i7-3770 at about £260 has 4 cores and 8 threads and is reasonable value if you have the money. An AMD FX-8150 8-Core CPU offers reasoble value for money.
Thread: Daz Studio seems light years ahead of Poser..but... | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I got the opposite problem of using Daz4 for years and now Poser Pro. Having to recreate the content manager is the biggest pain of swapping software. The feature I prefer in Daz content manager is being able to group the pose files in whith the character files. No advantage in separating them it just creates another search requirement.
