That's why I was curious about markschum's post about the opengl option under the Help menu. I keep my video drivers fairly up to date -- I haven't installed the ones that just came out, but I have whatever the version is prior to that. I recently re-installed Poser, and the dialog at the end of the install says that Poser will select sreed or opengl based on what it detects is supported -- and sure enough, when I first ran Poser after install, sreed was selected.
Anyway... if anyone has any advice as to how to chase this down (other than simply installing the latest drivers... again...) I'm all ears! :)

No, I'm a gamer so I'm considering a new card mainly for that reason. But whatever I get, I'd really like to improve Poser's performance in preview mode. I'm not that worried about rendering, since I often render in Vue anyway. But sometimes the process of posing things and getting the scene set up the way I want it can get really painfully slow since Poser 7 and my video card don't seem to agree when it comes to Open GL, the result being that sreed is generally faster than trying to use Open GL.

Quote - there should be an option under the HELP menu to see the opengl thats in use. If it refers to a microsoft driver then you have a minimal opengl and using the sreed (?) preview may be better.
Its dependant on your video card drivers . I recently got a nvidia 6200 card that works great Opengl 2.0
Where exactly is this option? I've always had problems with Open GL in Poser 7, and I'd love to get this sorted out if I can.
I'm currently using an nVidia 7900 GS. I've been thinking of upgrading to a 9600 GT. Does anyone have any experience using this card with Poser 7?

I'm also curious about this, I've seen the same thing on multiple V4 textures. At first I thought it was just a preview thing, but they show up in the renders too. Anyone have any advice?

Thank you for the quick response. What I'm trying to do is learn how to create my own textures. I thought I would start by trying to create a "second skin" for a simple character model. But I'm not able to get my modified texture file to show up when the figure is rendered.
I've been able to apply alternate textures for models, clothing, props, etc. from the MATS selection in the Pose library. That part is easy. What I'm trying to do is figure out how to create and use my own texture files. Seems like it shouldn't be difficult, so I'm assuming there is something simple I'm overlooking. Or at least, I hope that is the case! ;)
