Ā Thanks for choosing one of my photos. Always an honor to be selected with so many fine photos submitted each week.

I am sure the polarizer I have is NOT a circular polarizer. I checked exif data. It appears most of the blurred photos were shot from 1/400 to 1/640 which is very similar to the shutter speed I used when I had sharp pictures taken without the polarizer.
Is there any such thing as a circular ND filter?

Thread: Tripods 101 (LINK) | Forum: Photography
My wife goes to a lot of Estate Sales. I go with her now and then. A few months ago I saw a dusty tripod sitting in a house. It was a Bogen #3021 Manfrotto for $35.00. I have a few lighter weight tripods and a monopod. I got them all at Estate Sales.
Now if you are willing to wait for awhile, you can find all kinds of good camera equipment at Estate and Garage Sales at a lot less than retail.

I use it when I use my 70-300 mm lens. Also sometimes on windy days or when I need to make sure I have no movement. I also carry a monopod with me most of the time. I is not quite as good but it is better than hand held. I use it in public places where tripods are too big to set up.ĀI want to get a 70-300 VR Nikon Lens that takes care of shaky hands. Once I do that, I will use the tripod much less.

I started shooting in RAW last August. I love it. I use Nikon's CaptureNX to do my adjustments. It allows adjustments of exposure, sharpness, contrast, saturation and white balance just as if you did the adjustments before you made the shot. Also it allows pin point adjustments on just a small area of a photo. If I save for the internet, I save in .jpg. If I save for print, I save in .tif.The one big difference I notice is I never get .jpg artifacts on a RAW format photo. When I shot in .jpg and converted to .tif for print, I also had to contend with .jpg artifacts. They are very visible around hard lines in a photo.Ā
I won't go back to shooting .jpg for shots I truly want to edit and print. Simple snap shots or photos only intended for the internet are fine shot in .jpg.
The photo included was shot and edited in RAW before conversion to .tif
