Thread: My First Impressions of the Carrara Studio 3 Handbook | Forum: Carrara
Well, I've finished the first two sections (intro chapters and room chapters) plus a couple of the tutorials. The intro & room chapters didn't do anything for me. Don't know if that's because they didn't have much, or if I'm just not as much of a beginner as I thought I was. In any case, the tutorials I've read so far (SubD modelling, Bones/skinning, and particles) have all be tremendous resources. I think the SubD tutorial alone is worth the price of the book.

PC Mall has both v1 upgrades. From Eovia version 1.1 (if the box said Eovia when you bought it) - $189 From Metacreations version 1 - $199 I bought mine through them, and had no trouble at all, except their shopping cart software is a little weird and took some getting used to.Thread: Carrara Studio 3 Handbook | Forum: Carrara

Accodring to Charles River Media (the publisher), the book is now shipping. Amazon doesn't have it yet, but you can order it direct from CRM - for $10 cheaper than Amazon (only in the US, though). I just ordered mine and had it shipped overnight. :)Thread: For the animation gurus... | Forum: Carrara
I might be mistaken, but that sounds like a fluid flow problem. Unfortunately not something Carrara can do easily. It's the same kind of problem as having a furry ball bounce up and down and have the hair lag behind (as long hair would tend to do). Your only recourse in Carrara is to keyframe the entire thing, unless there's a plugin out there for it. Now if you could somehow model a very long chain with very small links in it, then it might appear to be a string...

Our resource CD contains a fair bit of Raydream stuff, yes? It may not be much, but it is a valuable resource that might get overlooked by any wayward Raydreamer who skips over a Carrara-only forum
Thread: Is there a new update? (3.0.2) | Forum: Carrara
I just compared the 3.01 readme vs. the 3.02 web page list of fixes, and they are exactly identical, except for two bugs listed in 3.01 that aren't listed on the 3.02 page. So unless they "unfixed" those two particular bugs for 3.02, and if the readme files are to be believed... The two versions are identical. :
