Thread: Why do you like Bryce better than Vue ? | Forum: Bryce
Lets see... Windows 2000 is the most stable OS there is out there, besides NT4. So it's not the OS. Ram is no problem 512 is more then enough. Computer is config'd properly, 3DMax runs wonderful. Speed is not an issue. So no, bad guesses Griggs.. lol, It is not the computer, nor even close, it is Bryce, and if you ever decide to actually read this message board more often, you will see tons of posts by people who are having the same problem with Bryce's instability. This is for both Bryce 4 and 5.

Stable as a rock.. i donno, usually, when a computer runs out of ram, on say, loading something, windows and the program automatically uses the swapdisk file.. Bryce, does not, which equals, bryce crashes and locksup when loading a program that is bigger then the ram limit.. which is NOT good, which means that bryce is not solid as a rock :)
Thread: So lets see some of them Bryce 5 renders.... | Forum: Bryce
Nice picture but.. if you look at the bark, you can tell that Corel really screwed up majorly on the tree lab... see on the limbs, that the bark is still straight up and down.. which is not even close to real life, because if you look at a tree in real life, the bark runs along the lines of the branch, and not up and down..
Thread: rendering times | Forum: Bryce
Yepyep, Bryce takes forever to render, which is one of the reasons I got bryce 5 so I can hookup a few gig computers together to get over this bryce render "bug" as some would say. As for the video card thing, the only difference the video card play, is how fast the picture is refreshed on the screen when rendering, it has nothing to do with the rendering itself. Also, antialiasing is a big issue.. which it really shouldn't be, because it hardly makes a difference on the outcome of the picture, it just multiplies the rendering time by 400%.. grrr
Thread: Error importing Poser Models into Bryce 5 | Forum: Bryce
I get the exact same error in bryce 4 when I tried to import my Poser model, but I used VueMaster then, but stopped since it doesn't do what I need it to do. So.. I was kind of thinking that you may need more memory? I only have 128MB atm, and my Angel is 16MB, which shouldn't be a problem, but then again ~shrugs~
Thread: More on Bryce5 render times - probable platform differences. | Forum: Bryce
Yep, B5 is a joke when it comes to rendering for the PC, but hey! That's a given :) I have B5, broke down and bought it.. grrrr, the "extras" are not worth the $$ :(
Thread: Poser to Bryce program needed. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I guess I'll give it another shot tonight after the movies.. Final Fantasy is out tonight and I got the tickets for my fiance and I. heh. Anyhow, I'll check it out again when I get back, either tonight, or after work tomorrow. depending on how long the movie is. (1h 50m?) Then I guess I'll post my results again.
Thread: Does Bryce 5 have radiosity? | Forum: Bryce
Bryce 4 is supposed to be able to import OBJ files with textures, if the textures are in the computer somewhere, however Bryce screws up loading the textures big time... I donno why.... oh well, I hope Bryce 5 fixed this problem, it's one of the only things that is preventing me to use Poser models in Bryce, dispite all the tutorials that doesn't help. :(
Thread: Poser to Bryce program needed. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I read the Susanna manual and according to what it says. Susanna doesn't import Poser Models and textures into Bryce. :( The manual only states that you import the object into bryce as a OBJ, and find the textures and apply the textures like "normally", which is total BS for what i need :( Since the "normal" ways doesn't work..... Any other suggestions of products to use?
Thread: Poser to Bryce program needed. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
hankim: Thanks for helping anyways, but for some reason, it doesn't work :( Anyhow, Vuemaster doesn't do any thing either. It errors out on me for some reason, everytime I try to make a MTL file, ~shrugs~ This does the same with all models for some reason, so as soon as I get paid again.. mmm... 25th of July, I will go out and buy Suzanna, since Marque shows that it works :) However, who knows, so far nothing has worked on any of the models I've tried them on ~shrugs~ oh well, I'll update this post as I go along, unless anybody else has any more tips on this subject.

Thread: Poser to Bryce program needed. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ok, I tried the email, interesting, but it still do the job, even with all the textures in the right directories, it still didnt load any of the textures needed. So I went out and bought VueMaster, while I was at work today :) Actually, I am still at work :) Just passing the time. So when I get home in 4 1/2 hours, I'll try VueMaster, if it doesn't do the job, ie, translate the textures needed from Poser to Bryce, then I'll go out and buy Susanna and see if it does what I need... Thanks guys! :)
Thread: Bryce5 vs Vue4? | Forum: Bryce
1.) For each tree made in bryce, it slows down bryce tremendously for rendering, in Vue, it does not. Quality for rendering trees are the same in both Bryce and Vue. 2.) For more accurate and powerful, is highly in doubt. 3.) The tutorials and community for Bryce over Vue is higher, but not the said amount previously :) Vue is just not a well known product to the netizens. 4.) Vue is stable, depending on what OS you are running. With that said, Bryce is unstable on some systems. 5.) Bryce made trees, created in B5 cuts down rendering tremendously. Best off using model trees in another program and import them... Vue 3 has the advantage there. Except now, on Vue 4 it has a plant creation section also, I think Im going to have to buy it and do a better comparson. 6.) For some reason, it took a 3rd party to allow direct import of Poser files, VUE 4... Bryce and Poser was owned by the same company at one time, and they still had NO compatiblity between their own products... sad... 7.) Have to admit that Vue4 pics looks better then Bryce5 8.) Speed Speed Speed!! With high(er) quality then bryce5.. hehe and nope, I don't use Vue too often, mainly because Bryce5 offers multi-computer support :) and is a bit easier for me to use then Vue. :P Bah, maybe time to switch.. lol.

Cliss: Where is that Omni3D page at? I can't find it.. erk.. nevermind, it only works for Win98 and not the stable win2000 :) So I can't use it... heh, I still don't know why people want to use that old os... :P Hankim: That would be very helpful if you could.... phalen@unformed.com
