Thread: Poser 8 advertised! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If I pay money for ANY software I anticipate it will do the job intended, and at least live part way up to the hype. I have gone from poser 5 through to Poser7pro. Mostly Poser fails to hit either of my expectations on upgrade - routinely.
Fundamentally it fails to do the job due the interface being poor - the drop down list of body parts and the stop go load, conform for multiple part outfits is dumb. Why not presume that clothing and hair will need to conform and then uncheck if that is not what the user wants?
Really D/S knocks 3 bells out of Poser for the interface, and I have just invested in D/S3. How much I will use it IDK. The Poser/Pro distinction is a nice marketing ploy (I am in marketing BTW) but little else.

Thread: How truly easy is it to open a poser project and render it in Vue? | Forum: Vue
Quote - Right.well you cannot load a Poser scene into Poser and have a work of art either. No matter what you do,you will have to work on it man.Vue doesent support Poser lighting, nor does it handle Poser reflections properly nor proper bump mapping nor proper specular...and the list goes on.So yeah,to get anything good you will have to work on it...but then again why wouldnt you want to:D
Right on! That function editor is so funky...
Topaz is right, when I started with Poser I expected realistic renders at the click of a mouse...
That was 3 years back and a lot of mouse clicks ago. You will need to work at it, but it is enthralling stuff (you do spell expensive that way don't you? Oh well, enthralling, expensive - it's close.).
I now find myself modeling in Vue, and all that from a guy who 'just' wanted to illustrate some stories...
In the days when I had time to write! :D
Thread: P7 vs P6 pz3 Vue import, somebody else want to try this possible P7 fix | Forum: Vue
 Nope I don't delte the lights either;
I have seen the problem though - seems to happen to me when I use hair that has very big trans maps attached. I now use down rezzer to make low rez versions - use them in poser and then run in Vue... Really cuts down on the memory issues...
My guess is that large textures use up memory (like on the dress)Â and trans maps may cause a memory leak, but it is that - a guess. Not even an educated one...
Anyone tell you importing Poser models into anything is straightforward - they tell fibs.
Oh by the way turn off the posing and pose in Poser - that will save you a whole heap of hassle.
I use C6 Pro too - different issues and advantages. I use that sometimes so I can crash things differently ;-)

Right on! Kick drugs, kick illness and then kick some ass!
Still working on the plan, but we will all get there, and the art will help.
I have sat on the most miserable days creating gorgeous pin -ups off imagined West Indian islands, beat the hell out of the steroids :D

The 2 main things I will say for Vue over Poser are - lighting flexibility/atmosphere & scale of rendering. Want a person dwarfed by a cave entrance? Vue's the kiddo .
Thread: preferred modeller? | Forum: Vue
I mess around with Silo; and really like the look of mudbox - for me organic approaches rule as I understand them. Z Brush confuses the hell out of me however.
If you want to mod Poser models rather than make buildings these apps are useful and so of course is blacksmith 3D.

Thread: For the Dungeons and Dragons fans... | Forum: Vue
Quote - LOL yeah I agree, some things though I preffer about Zbrush, texture painting for exmaple, but Zbrush's interface sucks donkey B*LLS!! lol :p
nice work, by the way! :)
(been testing mudbox demo)and get back to throwing dice! ;)
Mudbox seems fairly neat to me; Z-brush is an no go area i just get totally confuzzled by it. D & D meets Vue huh.... Muhahahaha indeed!

I'm certain that is right; also on chat etc. At least that has been my experience.
Good god, as you say - anything to escape day time TV! Out of the last 3 years I have spent the best part of a year on the sick...
But its an ill wind - I have learnt a great deal in the process. Not least that life is better than the only alternative.
I was told in 2005 it could be terminal cancer or sarcoid. 2 days before Christmas sarcoid was confirmed. I have never looked at the world through weary eyes since :D.

Quote - AGH! :(
Omg, I hope things turn out for the best, sigh.
Likewise, Kelvin has given a lot too many. If positive thought and respect helps, I'm sure plenty will respond... Life sucks at times...
