Was going to give it a miss as I run Windows 7 so I'm relieved to hear it can run on 7 - pays to check the forums :)

Quote - Hborre beat me to the post. I will add (for the sake of the totally noob out there) that the Materials Collections are located under the Artist's Paint tray (Second Icon from the right) on the Poser Library icons.
Thank you for your help, much appreciated.

Quote - For changing the clothing color scheme appearance and saving, I would recommend Material Collections (MC6) saved into the Materials category of the Library. There is less overhead in terms of file size and you can easily switch outfit colors if you change your mind.
For posing, just save the posed figure into the Pose Category. Just apply conform to when adding the clothing unless you are referring to dynamic clothing. That is an entirely different process.
What type of clothing are you using and for which figure?
Thanks so much I never thought of saving whilst in the Material Room, DOH is me! Can't you tell I'm new (and stupid) with the MR. <hangs head with embarrassment >
It's just a Gumdrop character (friend's grand daughter wants some wall art for her bedroom) with the basic flood fill clothing.
I've been googling but didn't get any answers, should have come here first :)
Thanks again.

My disclaimer I'm not trying to sound upity or better then any one else.
I've just been a around for a long time ,I'm trying to be helpful ,that's all.
I might not know just how some one made some thing but I'll know how to get the same effect.
Cause I've been a round a long time and I mess with all mediums and app's.There's Different styles medium and so on.
Some work for my style ,some not so much.
I would not suggest drawing a skull with pastels. If I see a peace of artwork and I don't know how to get that effect I'll experiment till I can.
Think I learned a lot over the decades that way.I don't know the exact tools and techniques Justmel used.
But I would know how I would make a render look like that.Ya could use a blureded layer like ajay753 showed us about.
turn the shine up on the metal with shaders.
maybe a touch of white in post.there's a lot of diffrent ways.to get diffrent effects.
learn them all will make you a better Artist.Don't know if I'll ever make comics like Raiden.D or SeanE

But I can still learn from them.
Thanks for the link RorrKonn...Sean's gallery has some cracking images - "Joker" is fabulous and as is, of course, "Justice League of America". some great talent on here!

I particularly like your first one - great painterly feel to it.

ajay753, thank you for the tip of the Orton effect. It is a beautiful technique if you don't overdo it. I tried it on my latest upload (changed what was already uploaded :). Quite nice, could benefit from some chiaroscuro though..

You're welcome. Yes, it looks too much when overdone I agree...thank God for layers/masks in Photoshop :-) I like your image, great composition and Orton complements your scene nicely. Chiaroscuro...your dodge and burn tool will help.

This has been a very interesting thread but with all too few good examples. The one I really did like was The Chieftan's Daughter by Justmel. Don't anyone know where there are more quality "Poser paintings" in that class? Please show me! (even if it is not your own artwork)
And Justmel, how did you do The Chieftan's Daughter?
?
It's a beautiful image, love the feel to it. Reminds me of the Orton effect (in Photoshop)- digital technique half way down the page.

Quote - > Quote - The secret..? Get the right filters:) or packages for Photoshop. Rons brushes is a must. Saves you lots of time and delivers professional results. Might have to splash out some cash but they are worth it. Filterforge is a good package to start off with. You can use it for free for a month and download all the filters you want.
Thanks Zev0... yeah I've seen filterforge... the topazlabs stuff RorrKonn mentions looks good too... that said, it's possible to do a heck of a lot I find, in terms of image processing, just with the built in Filters and levels / curves etc in the PS Image menu.
PS CS5 Extended has some other pretty nifty tricks up it's sleeve for 3d stuff too of course... like puppet warp for example.
I've certainly been considering some pre-made brushes recently... specifically now I'm getting into considering featuring more effects... explosions, fire and so forth in scenes.
However I was really meaning more stuff like overpainting techniques I guess. It's my oil painter's brain thinking here about how one might work (PS brush work, etc) on top of a render... without just obliterating it, of course...
...I know this is largely just about layering, and building up in increments... guess I'm just interested to know what different folk do in terms of postwork...
Hi monkeycloud
I have an online buddy who has learnt the basics of Poser just so she has something to paint (as she's mainly into portrait photography etc). Here's one of her galleries http://www.pbase.com/sianp/corel_painter_x_painting_poser_photoshop. She's no expert in either painting and/or Poser but hopes to combine the two to get to a decent level at some time. She's still learning both but says out of the two she reckons Poser is the hardest so I reckon if you're competent with Poser you're half way there :-)
regards
ajay
