Thanks for the various comments but I still think that the levels of discount (and perceived value) available to ordinary members has got worse in recent weeks/months. I havent seen any promotions recently where ordinary members can get 70% - whereas previously there were. Yes - Monday Madness is now 60% - but its pretty much the same products recycled every few weeks.
And lets face it - we all know that pretty much all sellers will have a 50% discount event fairly often - so 50% is the baseline expectation. Now some of the weekly events offer us a massive 40% - so why on earth are we going to bother even looking? We will just wait for 50% or better. And its not just about percentages - because of course the notional full price makes a difference. Its also about actual buying price per product - for a given type of product. Some Renderosity sellers offer competitive items when you look at what you get compared both to other Renderosity sellers and the other marketplaces. But I also know if I sit and wait patiently for the right events in certain other places I will get 75-85% discount and an actual price that meets my budget.
Over the last couple of years I have spent a few hundred dollars here at Renderosity and some of my all time favorite 3D vendors are here. BUT.... I have spent at least 10 times that amount elsewhere because I see greater value for money elsewhere. I'm not disrespecting the amount of time and effort that content creators put into their work - I admire their hard work. It's just simply that many items here are not competitive in the broader marketplace. (And I'm only talking about Daz - as I'm not a Poser user)
Thread: "Bang for your Buck BOGO" - Empower the Customer | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
Bumping this thread (again!) It's been a year now, and the customer option to choose a BOGO product option instead of having one randomly selected still has not appeared. This has now been on your development list for literally years. Many of us still switch off and ignore BOGO sales because we can't choose. I appreciate you have improved the BOGO presentation and limited the choice but it still offers many items that I have no desire to own - therefore there is no real incentive to buy.
Thread: Monday Markdowns (5th June) Not showing the 60% discount | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
OK small print wins. I surrender. :) But for me every single item on the whole web page of Monday markdowns was listed at either 30% or 40% discount. So it wasn't just a few of the items.

Bumping this topic again. You said that giving customers the ability to choose their free gift was on the development list, but we have seen nothing so far. Now we have the Christmas BOGO sale and its still the same old problem. If I choose a DazG8 product - I'm offered a large potential list of free gifts including V4 and non-Daz native items like .OBJ that I have to import. I don't have V4. I don't have Poser. I have nearly a terabyte of Daz products. . I removed everything before G3 to keep my library from exploding. I love many products on Renderosity, but I immediately switch to browsing alternative markets when I see the dreaded BOGO word.

Thread: Slightly Disappointing BOGO | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
I'm with the original poster. Several times I have looked at the BOGO offers but I have never proceeded due to the fact that I can't choose the free one. In many cases the random options include products that are upgrades to other products I don't even have, so my free one would be a total waste. I will BO if you let me choose the GO.
