I am sure I will not be the only one to say this, but each program has it's strengths. The biggest difference is work-flow and personal preference, as well as what you want to do. I find Bryce tends to appear more CGI, while Vue is more photo-realistic.

In Vue, it is so very easy to create a bump map, merely use the same mapped image(instead of procedural) for both the color and the bump maps. I played a lot with the material editor. I used to use Bryce... and well.. heh Vue is WAY easier.

An easier way to do this is to press and hold the shift key while right clicking on a Vue file, choose teh 'open with' option, select vue4 exe file, and insure the 'always use this program is checked. Good luck!
