Maybe you two can stop your mine is bigger than yours argument since it seems to be my stuff that is part of this childish almost argument/disagreement. I would like to make a comment to firstly Terminus; I can find absolutely nothing on your profile no gallery no stats nothing. That puts you in the troll class as far as I am concerned. Maybe you used to have a gallery or history of some sort but if so it seems you may have left for whatever reasons you had but it doesn't change my opinion. Now I actually am smart enough Mr. Driscoll to know that you will never see Bryce work in a movie because of its limitations but you should realize that not all of us aspire to make movie pictures but rather prefer just to make pictures and if it gives others who view them pleasure that is the icing on the cake. I don't dis others work or try to infer that in some way they are "cheating" somehow to cover mistakes made in their renders such as your continuous reference to postwork in my pictures. You claim to be able to tell which programs I have used to do so right down to which programs the models are made in. I decided to look at your stuff also but found nothing of interest on your gallery to comment on:) I will state emphatically the reason I have no comment on your stuff is because I don't use the programs you do although I do have Vue10 Xtreme which to be honest does not suit the type of colors or lighting I prefer in my work so I use it now mostly for conversion purposes if I purchase or find a Vue model I really like. I have been a member here for a bit of time also (actually long before it was Rendorosity and definitely long before Tim took over the original site with most of the members who have been here longest (and there are still a few of us around). Lastly I will tell you I use very little postwork in my pictures and contrary to what you "perceive" and can see is mostly knowing Bryce from the time it was a dos program with no fancy GUI which makes it much easier now and I learned through trial and error how to wring the most out of the program and usually get the effects I wish for. Horo and Bryster are two others who can also do so with the program to name just a few. Now don't mis-understand me I am not putting you down for your comments about my stuff since everyone is entitled to their opinion of what they like or prefer and that is what makes digital art and this hobby so great but a person should always make sure of their understanding of the program and its capabilities before semi- criticizing others stuff. And as a by-note the end results justify the means used to get there including postwork etc. which believe me are also used by the people who use programs like Max C4D Maya and so on. If you don't believe me go to some of the sites where there are tutorials which teach others how to get certain effects in their renders I also have these programs and use them and the tutorials that I find there). Try 3DTotal and see how many there are and you may be surprised at the number of them. Also see if by your acute observation "powers" which pictures on their site are mine(under a different user name than here so I don't get hacked for posting stuff here since to most there they think Renderosity is a wasteland of no talent) Be well and continue enjoying this fantastic hobby. Thread: Making Changes | Forum: Community Center
Actually Hope I don't think anyone was "bashing" you but since you represent Renderosity you kind of have to expect a bit of flak since you are front and center in some of these changes that have been made:) My advice is to take it all with a grain of salt since most of us here are kind of on the volatile side. Hell I used to be terrible in that regard and still can get there if need be but I often think that it just isn't worth the effort most times. And as food for thought you should realize that to a lot of people here the changes that have been made recently feel to a lot of members hurtful and disrespectful, especially those of us who have been here from the beginning and some of us even before. I wish you good luck in your endeavor to mend the rift but we will see how it goes as time goes by because with some it will be an uphill job and some it will be never. Nick (Beelzebulb)
Thread: final questions | Forum: Community Center
I am not a very active member in the forums here or anywhere else for that matter but stumbled across this by accident. And right on the heels of this apparent mess came the news of the DAZ/RDNA merger so I have had some interesting reading for the last little bit and I can honestly say that everyone especially the current management etc. should pay a little more attention to what the members here are trying to convey to them, I have been here for a long time and over the years have seen this type of thing happen before here BUT never to this degree. I have pulled my gallery more than once here because of something that I disagreed with here (I'm older now and hopefully wiser:) but I do take exception with a few things that after reading every post about these new issues that seems to be prevalent. The dismissive and frankly in some instances insulting manner the members who are voicing their concerns to those who should be listening to them have been condescendingly answered (and there is no way that can be excused) or not answered at all. I can understand Hope that you are facing the biggest problem to come down the pike since you have started here but believe me when I say that these people have a right to be upset. After all you and a lot of the people working here didn't build this site and community WE DID. Now I am not bashing here or picking on anyone specific but simply stating what I have interpreted to my way of thinking and observation. If the management or Powers That Be cared enough they would actually take notice and try to make some sort of accommodation to ease the minds of those who are not happy with some of the changes suddenly being implemented. As this site depends solely on revenue from selling other peoples creations and depends on the community to keep them in business since they have no software of their own like DAZ or SM it would be prudent to keep us happy so as to stay in business for at least the foreseeable future. Who knows, I may even spend money here again like I used to (quit when the redesign fiasco was happening) I have no plans on jumping ship yet but will see how it unfolds over the next little while mainly because I just started to post images again here and I am too lazy to look for another host for them. So I urge the administration and staff to consider carefully what there is to gain and what there may to lose before being too arbitrary when they make decisions that will affect the perception and sensibilities of the members here. We are after all generally an emotional and volatile lot (creative types usually are that way you know). Nick (Beelzebulb)
Thread: I See Why People Complain Here | Forum: Community Center
Wow./ I remember this happening to the site that Renderosity evolved from. The person/people who ran that site were of a dictatorial mind set and it was their way or the highway kind of mentality. I remember it well because at the time I was in a "disagreement " with the "self-proclaimed" founder and "Head Honcho" of that site and her attitude was pretty much the same as what seems to be evolving here by some of the staff. But then we all know that **** rolls downhill so who it is that seems to be behind some of the ridiculous and inept changes happening here over the last year or two here we will probably never find out. And don't give me the "it was a joint decision by all the staff? crap. Any person with authority one would think would be able to explain and truly justify their reasons for this latest bone head move but so far all I see is a couple of "moderators" taking the flak while apparently whoever is really in charge is playing the violin. Now; for those of you who weren't around or belonged to the aforementioned now defunct site I related to at the beginning of my little rant here suffice to say that it is hardly remembered by people here or for that matter anywhere on the internet. The reason is that the owner of Bondware at that time saw what was happening and took measures to rectify the situation. Hence in time Renderosity came into being and we all have had our ups and downs here over the years and this type of discord has happened over the years resulting in more people leaving every time. To me this in ways has an upside. Those people usually end up elsewhere making another site stronger and thereby more competitive with places like Renderosity. Don't worry this site will survive quite well as there are enough new people who wish to become " artists" who will join and use this site until another of these kerfluffles occurs again. Its a shame that this is so prevalent on this site but that is the way it is and will continue to be. So those who find this latest TOS change unbearable to their sensibilities haxe the right to complain and if they feel they are not being heard have the right to leave and go elsewhere. We will find you again as we always do and lets be honest, the "digital art? community is not just limited to this site but is a combination of all the sites like it. Anyone who thinks this site is the be all and end all one is truly limiting themselves not only as a person but also as a creative person and "artist". I particularly am not worried if I ever got banned or whatever from any site since if I am not wanted on that site why bother being there? I have had invites from other sites to post my stuff but being a bit lazy I haven't bothered moving/ But that can change if circumstances warrant. Good caring community minded people like those posting here are actually hard to find so to those of you decide or have decided to leave I wish you all the best and I am sure I will see you pop up on another site soon. But for now I will just shut my big yap:) Nick aka Beelzebulb
Thread: To Bryce and Hexagon Users | Forum: Bryce
Well I started with Bryce many years ago and since then I have acquired Max, Light Wave, Maya. Vue. Daz Studio (which is still a buggy thing in my opinion) , C4D and few others/ I have and do use most of them but I mainly use Bryce because I enjoy it, The lighting is one of the best natural light set ups and I will hold a well done render in Bryce against pretty much any program out there and defy anyone to tell me it isn't comparable if not better than most. Once you learn the little tricks you use getting the most out of it there really isn't much you can't do with it. As far as Daz is concerned I haven't spent any money for a long time there or for that matter here either because lets be honest; they want us to buy the products but they don't give the support they used to. I can spend my money other places that offer better service and quality products which I can use in Bryce with no problem. I will continue to use Bryce and enjoy using it more than any other program and to me it will never die as long as there is people using it:)
Thread: Update on Site Downtime | Forum: Community Center
This is the worst update of a site I have ever seen. Slow and cumbersome navigation along with the search going from bad to worse I think you guys really have your work cut out for you to keep your members.
Thread: Roll Call | Forum: Bryce
I use Large Address Aware and it makes a huge difference in the speed of Bryce. And it does see all 8 cores on my machine. Another thing is that it allows Bryce to use 3 gigs of memory instead of 2 which makes a hell of a lot of difference in render times.
The problem is that after a while using a water cooled 8 cores and 32 gigs of ram I tend to get used to it and it doesn't seem so fast anymore:) Thats what I found so I got a ATI 7970 Matrix graphic card with 3 gigs of ram. After a while same thing. The need for speed seems to be the thing now and I am no different than most when it comes to that it seems a lot of us seem to be bitten by the speed bug:) no matter what our age or what we use our computer for.
Thread: Roll Call | Forum: Bryce
I don't even know why I decided to look in the forums today:) boredom ??? and I came across this thread.
First let me say its nice to see some of the old timers here in this thread and HI to all of you who may remember me over the years good or bad:) Now to the bad:
Was actually shocked to see how few threads there is here now. I remember when it was a thriving and fun place but now it seems to be going the way of the program itself which is too bad. I know I like others who used to swear by Bryce am one of the ones at fault for this. Although I still use Bryce for my own enjoyment I don't post my work very often as I find it gets buried so fast and also they now archive the work so that peoples pictures good or bad are lost to most viewers. I did a search on the archives and they are not set up very well so most people won't bother. I blame rendo also for the decline since I notice the poser gallery (156 pages) is not archived at 22 pages like the bryce one. And of course the bar in the bryce gallery seems to have dropped dramatically from what I can tell by comments and ratings which are ridiculous for a lot of the crap that is posted in it now. Even some of the people who have been using bryce for years don't seem to be trying to improve themselves. It is like they now think they are "Bryce Gurus" because they get so many favorites and 5's even when they post crap. Some years ago if you posted a picture not up to snuff you got your ass handed to you. Sad situation now but that seems to be the norm in a lot of the galleries here now.
So I guess what I am saying is that we get what we deserve and thats all there is to it.
Thread: Can't Load Picture?? | Forum: Bryce
Actually Bryster I just tried it again and this time it worked:) I guess time really does heal eh? Thanks for checking though. :)
Thread: Can't Load Picture?? | Forum: Bryce
File is definitely not oo large. :) The site seems to be flaky the last while since they worked on it a while back. Will wait and try later.

**On the other hand, maybe my images are just plain bad, stupid and worthless **
I woulbn't say the above:) I just looked at some of your stuff and it beats the h==l out of a lot of the "awesome" ones I see getting so many ratings and favorites that makes me want to get an eye transplant at times:) .
**I know that a lot of my stuff is better but since I don't belond to a "clique" I don't let it get to me. I appreciate the comments etc. I get from the people I admire much more than the "clique" ones. So should you. **
Thread: galleries | Forum: Community Center
maddy, I have to agree with you about the cliques but it has been that way ever since this site was started from what was left of the old poser forum. That was why I was hacked on some time ago when I questioned a picture that received a huge amount of comments about how great a picture it was. Personally I believe that spheres and the like floating over water or anywhere else is just a bit of joke when that type of pictures get outrageously ridiculous comments like wow! wonderful and awesome lighting etc.
But then as I have been told "art is in the eye of the beholder" and so I sometimes have to wonder who is the one with the skewed sight, myself or the seemingly knowledgable critics (who seem to outnumber any of us who question thier judgement on what is and what isn't art) although if one looks up the definition of an art critic they may want to lay back a bit on thier criticism of anyone who questions thier judgement:)
As for the cliques I wonder if a lot of them just don't have anything or anyone else in thier life and have a need to belong to something to give meaning to thier pscyche which is one reason I kind of feel sorry for them :)
And cheers to you!
Thread: galleries | Forum: Community Center
I agree for sure. The only reason I never mentioned it is because some time ago I recieved a lot of "comments" to put it politely and some very blunt remarks to the effect that "art is in the eye of the beholder" although the premise that a piece of crap is art still somehow eludes me no matter how I look at it:)
However a lot of the people here seem to either be learning or have reached thier level of incompetency and that is to be expected on any site that you are allowed to post your work on without a set criteria or reviewing type of system. That said there are a fair amount of people who are exceptionally good at what they do here but it comes back to thier work being buried with the amount of uploads there are daily.
I guess you just have to take the good with the bad :) I often think there should be a kind of "Masters Gallery" that people could submit thier work to after some type of approval by thier peers. Not saying that the work has to be perfect but should have artistic merit and kind of touch people or stir them in some way that art is supposed to do no matter what medium is used. I have seen photography and 2 and 3D stuff here that makes me strive to do better and perhaps a lot of people would feel the same way and try to improve thier work because of it.
Just a thought for what its worth:)
Thread: galleries | Forum: Community Center
My own personal reasons for not posting very often any more are the following ;
1/ too many cliques
2/ When a person posts a picture it gets buried so fast a lot of people don't get a chance to view it
3/ My particular program of choice Bryce( I also use Poser, Vue, Max, Terragen, Blender etc. but just seem to like Bryce) is pretty much stagnant at this time and a lot of people using other programs seem to, in my observations of comments made in forums around the internet, feel that anyone using Bryce is not really that good, Personally I know people who use Bryce but like myself rarely post thier work anymore who can blow a lot of the other programs out of the water with thier stuff.
And I definitely have to agree with moriador regarding his post and also have to admit that I myself and people like me who have cut way back on thier posting are part of the reason. In the case of the Bryce gallery the number of people posting thier work has dropped signifigantly which would explain the similarity and lack of diversion in the types of pictures being posted ( this seems to be happening in some of the other galleries also).
Again these are just my own personal feelings and thoughts on this and in no way do I wish to offend anyone as in the past I seemed to attract a lot of criticism when I did voice my opinion and comment on things like this.
