Well, something is obviously wrong with those Staff Picks - how did my image manage to make the list?Is it Bizzaro Day or something? It's like playing a really easy game of "One of These Things is Not Like the Other..." Heh.
Seriously though, I am both surprised and honored to have one of my images become a Staff Pick. I'll have to raise the bar on all my future images. Thanks R'Osity!
Thread: Collections - saving but not displaying | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm glad that I found this thread, as I was having a similar problem. I like to rename my Runtime folders and nest them in a logical (for me at least) way. That way all my figures and poses are kept in logical groups (like Runtime/Libraries/Figure/Victoria 4/Clothing/Morphing Fantasy Dress) rather than being scattered all over the place causing me to forget what or where they are.
Anyway, I noticed that an empty folder with the original name hung around in the Runtime if I tried to rename/move anything after I had already installed it, and that really bugged me. I found the solution by reading tis thread (putting the Poser program in c/: PoserPro) but IÂ have another question now.
Could I simply move the entire Poser program folder from the Programs folder in Vista to a new location? I have installed a lot of content to my Runtime folder and don't really want to have to install it all over again. I will if IÂ have to, but I really don't want to do that...
Whoops. Forgot to mention that IÂ am using Vista Ultimate as my OS.

Jeeze Paloth. That's a pretty ambitious project for the first model you made. I'm still not comfortable extruding faces and rearranging vertexes!

I realize that I should start with something small of course, but that's not really how I operate. I think I'm a bit like Teyon, wanting to dive right into the deep end of the pool. Problem is, I get frustrated very easily and have a pretty short attention span. ;P
As EnglishBob first did, I've already done a tiny bit of morphing; nothing spectacular of course. Just stretching, twisting, and bending some vertexes and faces on V4's head to make a mermaid fin-crest thingy, and some elven/fae ears. I didn't even finish them because I was so disappointed with how they came out. LOL. Part of that disappointment is due to a lack of planning though. I really should sit down and hash out exactly what I want to make, rather than just staring at Victoria's head floating in my Wings workspace. The computer's a great tool, but it can't provide you with creativity...
Thread: Poser 6 Firefly renders on a laptop PC | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well, I just checked the stuff in my laptop. I've only got an AMD Sempron Processor 3000+ that gives me 1.8GHz of processing power and 192 MB of RAM. Just godawful. No wonder everything goes so slow! I guess the next step is to carefully examine the guts of my laptop and see if I can upgrade the stupid thing. If not, it'll be a while before I have the cash on hand to move up to a proper tower. Darn. Until that time I'll just be stuck doing small, single figure, non-ray traced, non-displacement mapped renders. Thanks for everyone's comments and help.

Hmmm... Yes, it appears that PCs are fickle things. I'll check the graphic settings on my machine and see if that does anything.
Good to know that Poser 6 renders the image bucket by bucket. Sometimes I've gone as small as 8px by 8px when creating an image, but that takes forever. Turning off hidden body parts is a great tip too, though I usually do nude renders or make use of "second skins". With such limited resources every extra figure that I include in a scene increases the chances of a system crash.
Interesting that Poser 7 handles textures differently than Poser 6. I might have to look into upgrading my software.
