Couple more renders - quick series of some of the characters in my old dev file, and a more resolved one of my fav old guy from when PP2012 first touched down. Just to stir the pot.

I've actually just found one of the dev files I was working on for a handful of head sculpts. Some have head/neck transitions so if there were likely to be any changes to topology or rigging that would affect what I'd already done I'd need to know. Definitely up for creating some refined head (& possibly body) morphs though. Would love to see Apollo weight-mapped.

Hi Boni. Problem I have is like that scene at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark - there's a cardboard box in a room, surrounded by other boxes all the same size & shape, in which there's a storage drive with all my old Apollo files. It was a chaotic move to a new house which we're in the middle of renovating.
That said I'd still be up for supporting Apollo if the demand is there, especially with morphs. I'd probably prefer to do custom morph-brush head sculpts these days, but so long out of the software I'd need help getting those into a pose-ready file (I used to do PMDs but my documentation for all that is long gone).
I'll keep digging to see if I can find any of my old stuff in the cloud. I did about 4 or 5 freebies - mostly ADS morph pose sets but also some miscellaneous PMD morph/character sets. Some were better than others. There was a wrinkle displacement map in one (still have that in a texture bin on this PC) that I used for my older characters. I think the werewolf and the alien were put up too. Frankly if they've become unavailable due to hosting changes etc and anyone just has these sitting on their system I'm more than happy for them to be shared (probably need them myself!).
Last contact I had with Anton was on FB some years ago - he'd definitely 'moved on' from 3d at that point but who knows eh.

heh, I had the hair & neck bolts for 'frankie' all worked out at one time too - cant find any renders now. There was a Lugosi Dracula too that never saw the light of day.
Ah, fun fun fun. See ya all at the next Apollo re-union.

That's the fella! Always loved the level of realism & detail you got in that one. Bearing in mind that was pre SSS skin, Gi etc as wall.

ditto Lee - remember that promo animated gif Anton did of Apollo renders? Say, didn't you have a cool render you'd done of Apollo in a wooly hat?

Yeah that would be kinda cool, though things do seem to have moved on somewhat figure-wise (not all for the better). I had a bunch of custom morphs for Apollo I'd made some progress on (refinements of faces, some body morphs) but who knows where those files are now.

Good to hear you still tinker. I've only fired up Poser a couple of times this year - had a chaotic house move - so I'm a bit out of practice. New version of Poser in the works too I hear!
For anyone not too familiar with Apollo, I highly recommend working his face with the morph-brush. I always found his face above all other figures responded to that particular tool. At one time there was also a face-room add on for him (can't remember whether that made it onto the free files list or even still works). Anton always said he morphed 'like butter'.

Hey Lee. How you doing? Nice to see all those renders again and be reminded of the sheer versatility of that figure. Fun times :)

What are the chances....I just happened to take a look at rendo for the first time in ages and who should I find being reminisced but Apollo. Yeah, loved this figure so much. Best fun morphing I ever had in Poser. These were a few custom ones I made - some variants of simpler ones made just with dials and then morph-brushed up a bit. Cred to Anton.

In the Object Properties for each object there's a 'casts shadows' tickbox.

Thread: Weird transparency issues with rendering (some) black/dark hair room hair | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Apropos nothing in this thread, I just want Poser to have a way to make a hair cut with an even edge. I have never seen a real-life hair style where the cutting was done by banging the hair tips between two rocks. That's what long Poser hair always looks like to me.
Yeah, I'd love the Hair Room to have some real development. No idea how realistic a wish that might be.
It may well be possible as it is to style cleaner cuts by using lower length variance settings but frankly I gave up trying to style my own - the tools are just too frustrating.

Wanted to reply to this before but needed to check my old setups. Unfortunately I had to do a complete re-install of Poser combined with other problems that caused delay.
Yes, the softness setting is quite crucial. I used to set it really low (0.02-0.05) depending on the hair and root/tip settings. With very low root/tip settings you can drop it to 0 but then you need to really increase the population density of your hair groups.
Some camera angles can result in you being able to see straight through a style. It's one of the reasons I began using significantly higher populated hair settings too.
Getting good results with DH, like so much in Poser, is a delicate balancing act.
