Y-Phil, so the sad purple devil indicates you are getting no joy with Poser 11 on Apple Silicon and/or Sonoma?
My Intel MacBook died so now I've got an M3, trying to spend as little as possible re-purchasing functioning software.
Poser 11 did what I needed for making animated elements but I'm getting the feeling I'm going to have to upgrade.
Any other opinions on Poser and Apple Silicon compatibility?
Thanks
Thread: Z-depth maps - aliased? | Forum: Poser 11 / Poser Pro 11 OFFICIAL Technical
If the link above worked for you, great. And in any case, feel free to ignore my late reply: Since every grade between white and black is a designation of depth anti-aliased z-maps aren't necessarily functional. Your foreground figure's shoulders for example, if antialiased each grey to dark grey pixel would connote a rapidly retreating value into Z beyond the actual position of the character. This is probably made worse including the floor plane as part of the depth solution. But you want all that if you want the z-map for a faster DOF render rather than doing it in Poser. My recommendation would be just do a separate render without background in order to get just the alphas of the characters. If its a long or complex render, copy your scene, delete all lights, turn off raytracing and render. This way you get the alpha for the cheapest render time. Sorry for the wordiness.

I'm guessing you've googled it by now but if not, see prism-ai.com
free app that iirc uses googles deep dream algorithm to filter photos. Last time I heard there were caveats like; it works by uploading the image to google where it gets processed and it gets a "prisma" watermark. Now, all that may have changed since I last looked. I would say "Buyer Beware" but its free.
That said may not be a workable solution for the work being described originally in this thread. I mentioned it only 'cause it looks cool.

Thanks, Wow, I was so young back then. Since then there are so many advancements in algorithmic filtering solutions, Prisma is enjoying a lot of attention these days. But it still gets down to being able to make choices about your image rather than letting it get fed through a fancy filter no matter how delicious it might be.
Thread: e-on web site not responding (for days) | Forum: Vue
That's where I was navigating but the page would freeze in the middle of loading and timeout. The page looked as official as the official page but now, I go there doesn't seem to be an issue with it loading. So, another mystery.
But one no one need worry about.
Thanks

2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo
2GB RAM
These days I think my iMac uses 2GB of RAM just to idle.
Thread: So, what's the verdict on Vue 11? | Forum: Vue
Very stable on my iMac, quad-core, 16G RAM
So far, haven't pushed it that hard yet; particles etc.
Must find the upper limits, which before was not hard to do.

For those who collect weird information:
The result was rather than type in the address into my browser or hit the link in the mail, I googled e-on and clicked on one of the links there.
The immediate difference is it recognized me and was a secure connection which didn't happen before. After that renewing was SOP.
Just in case it happens to someone else.

Replying to that link was the first thing I tried. I seemed to remember something like this happening last year and I just went directly to the sight and logged in, which hasn't worked either.
Thanks for the feedback. Currently I'm in Australia and won't be back in the States until after my plan runs out next week.

Vue 9-10 were very stable for me on my Mac Book Pro
Vue 11 finally outran it in every way and had to update to an iMac quad-core 16G RAM
NVidia Geforce 680MX 2048MB
I probably break the criteria of your question via the graphics card and by the fact that I'm not a Vue super-user. That said...
Importing from PPro 2012 has been smooth and overall performance has been incident free.
Feels great to be running it on a computer with some horsepower. I've yet to play with particles or anything super extreme like a forest of M4's in full VAP gear in the rain and smoking cigarettes, for example.
Hope this was helpful.
Thread: Why Would Somene Use Painter And Photoshop? | Forum: Photoshop
Your question has been thoroughly answered at this point. I'll underscore some of the previous comments as an update.
Photoshop has really improved its brush system, damn them, and so I often don't feel like I have to leave Photoshop as much as I used to go to Painter for the painterly effects.
For illustrations, graphic novels, storyboards I thought Painter was great for some of the spattering brushes.
Image hose! 1001 uses.
The dynamics of following angle and your motion path were key attributes that PS didn't have back then.
My work path has changed and I don't use those items as much anymore so Painter has fallen in the background. It's been a while since I put both to the test. Painter 10 is my current version.
I loved Painter and yet its PS type tools were clumsy. And yet, I also seem to remember one could import PS plug-ins.
Thread: ??Questions about D|S save options | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Thanks, its good to hear I wasn't missing an obvious solution. It's good to know what I ended up doing was pretty much how its done.
My .cr2 already has the smart prop loaded to it and D|S loads that just fine. It even looks good in GL. I was looking for someway to save the user the extra step of having to go load the prop or go load the prop's material preset. But that's just how it is.
Thanks for the explanation.
Thread: ??Questions about D|S save options | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Yes, but in the same context there are several characters out there that have clothing (chars) that load with props (attached to belts etc) in Poser. I'm sure there is a D|S equivilant I should bug them in the D|S forum at Daz, I'm just used to asking stuff here.
Thanks again.
Thread: ??Questions about D|S save options | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Understood except that the last time I tried that it was not accepted as a market item. I'm not sure why a scene can't be part of a store item but maybe criteria has changed.
More of a known work-around than a solution but the lack of responses suggests there is no other existing method except making the prop part of the character via rigging.
Thanks for your suggestion.
Thread: ? Saving keyframed material nodes in Poser Library How? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
One Correction
The test I started with was on a body part.
The actual scene/problem is with the prop. The props animated material nodes appear in the prop's numeric window, not the body as previously mentioned.
First, thanks for the responses.
Second, the suggestions were pretty much the way I was headed and before I started hacking thought I would ask for a more elegant solution if one was known.
The Result
Using the same syntax as an animated pz2 it pretty much just ignored me except that it did extend the scene the proper number of frames for the animation. What it didn't do was add any keyframe values to the channels.
The attempt to combine the animated channels with the same information that would be in a Mat pz2, well, Poser wouldn't even recognize that.
Multiple iterations of trimming what might be offensive lines or adding what I thought it might lack resulted in no reaction or an error stating that it was not a Poser file.
Thanks for the help. I will have to leave it til after the weekend.
Happy New Year to all
